I was watching this on my phone while taking a... You know.. Nice informative video! I did have a hard time listening to you because the music was a bit loud and intense, maybe it's just me.
Thanks for a good summary. One unpleasant issue with ther Mercedes is the the way it deals with cross winds. It applied the brakes on one side to bring the vehicle back into line which can very disconcerting if you don’t expect it. VW/MAN nudge the steering and is not so alarming.
Quite informative video. It would have been better if there was a pruce comparison included along with specs. Thanks for your video. My choice us also Crafter 4M
Thanks for watching pal. I did want to do it but decided there is just so much variation on price between new, used, spec, size and models so just decided it wouldn’t add value to the video.
For off-road use, get the Iveco Daily 4x4 van. It has 3 differential locks, low-range transfer case, big tires, engine block heater, and other off-road specific options.
Epic editing Matty! #youaremyeditingguru 😍 I want to buy a Kia Carnival and convert it to look like the A-Team van!! Just gotta sell the idea to the Mrs 😂
Love it 😂 so the plinth thing is a clear view product but these fires are now 8 years old so I guess they still do them. The hearth is concrete which I made myself 👍
Yep. I have heard that. Our one still looks like it did the day we put it in. I wish I could put one in a van but I think it would be a bit dangerous with little ones.
Still don't know what to choose. Man or sprinter. Both new converted, both auto. Is 1 time purchase and will be used few times/year. I want liability and space. Consumption to be the last worries 😅
Very nice comparison, how are you satisfied with reliability of Crafter? I have just one question. Where did you get the ncap crash test data from? I think they haven't ever made any comparable crash tests for vans, only rated security assistants... But no real crash test. Renault master (resp. Nissan NV400, same van) was only tested like compatibility crash test versus smallet SUV. (only van ever tested in this way by ncap).
Any thoughts on the e-Sprinter? With a 200mile range and useful application of the batteries for camping (not least a/c at night), is it something worth considering?
I want to do a video on this. I love the idea of it But from my initial research. For our use and being off grid I don’t think the range is long enough and then you consider if your using the electricity you could eat through battery. But if you were to only wanted to use n sites and hooked up could be great if the range was slightly more. I think these vehicles really should have 500 miles of range at least. When we drive through France we can easily do 400 miles. I defiantly think there is potential in the future.
This dude exhibits a strong bias towards Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat vans from the Stellantis group. While acknowledging that these vans may not be exceptionally luxurious inside, we find them to be the most reliable and fuel-efficient among all the vans in our warehouse. In contrast, we have experienced numerous issues with Mercedes vans, as well as with the three Ford vans in our possession. Boxer not only are known for its spacious interior but also for its reliability and fuel efficienct that is a factor influencing many professional campervan manufacturers to choose stelantis platform for their builds.
Thanks for the insight pal. I tried to give a balanced view of vans available to us. I have a crafter myself and have owned many fords. I think the boxer platform is a great van but I have had friends with new engine at 70000.
Hi John that’s old news the modern sprinter dose not rust not sure what date I think it’s from 2010 onwards it changed I own two 13 and 15 plate not rust

My ducato is a 2017 with a galvanised body not sure where you saw the rust on a 2019
Thanks for tuning in. It was rear doors and rear arches. Poor thing looked like it had a rough life. Happy new year.
I have the citroen relay and it's surposed to be a galvanised body but I've started getting rust.
I think they all do tbf
@@abucklifeI have looked for alot of relays never been one with rust
Was hoping to see the transporter or is that to similar to the crafter
I was just doing large vans on this one. It’s on my list to do a medium sized vans. Transporter, custom size.
Which one of the lot has the best off-road capeability without mods?
Oooo I’m split. The crafter has a great diff lock from factory. But the merc has the head room.

You sir are to kind. An a team van would be the dream. When brick thinking goes global you won’t need to ask the mrs. 😂
good video man , thank you, I'm really drawn to the Mercedes, it looks class....is it the most expensive to service / maintain also?
@@SillyMonkeys we would love a sprinter too they look great. Not sure in servicing but I assume but from main dealer
It would not be cheap.
Not van related…where did you get the Clearview Log burner plinth from is it a Clearview product.

Crafter 38mpg no chance 😂😂 great video👍
Had to compare them all on listed but real world on my crafter at the moment is 34.4. Although I think that’s gonna plummet as just fitted at tyres. 😂
@@abucklife i was getting 30 then put falken wildpeaks on and now at around 25mpg at 60 on long runs thats a fully converted camper
I’m keen to see what we will get with the ATs on.

If I could pick any engine I would go with a 2021 3.0 sprinter for reliability and power.
Yes but can't find a v6 with low mileages unfortunately @abucklife
@@MihaitaMYG this was our problem and in budget.

We haven’t done that many miles in it so yet to see the reliability. But so far so good. I used the ncap website for information.

Actually you can get a ducato/boxer/... 4wd by Dangel.
You can also improve comfort with improved suspensions for example full air suspension
Did not know that. Good knowledge. I was looking mainly stock from the manufacturer for this comparison.
the Ducato is more prone to rust than and Sprinter?
I believe this is true from the research I carried out 👍
@@abucklife fair play mate just every sprinter I’ve looked at has some sort of rust problem
Yer I guess some may rust quicker than others. What age are you looking at?
@@abucklife 8 years old give or take
I think the new ones fair better.
I just stated a volkswagon crafter LWB high roof
Good luck. Follow my build series as I have just started. 👍
what about the classic hiace
I would class that as a medium sized van similar to a transporter or transit custom. I need to do a video on these.

@abucklife we already changed an engine to a Ford at 38000 and one sprinter already in the shop with a blown engine at 82000

iveco daily?
I couldn’t find one locally to drive but should not be overlooked. 👍

I bet but my crafter is pricey to.
You haven't done your research very well because the transit and sprinter are absolutely terrible for rusting, citroen, Peugeot vans are galvanised.
