I have the S670 Dragon Eye and I love the light small body. I practice a lot more because of it. I do have some fret buzz but that happens a lot from wood shrinking. I live in Arizona and the weather is hard on guitars. So this is something I am used to. For the price its an eye catcher if nothing else.
Get the guitar professionally set up with fret leveling. I had to set it up for Sumit. Once done the action is less than 1 mm. The guitar is a shred machine.
@@miguelalejandrocontreras5468 Yes very slim and fast neck with right string height setup. I have 1,5 mm at 12th fret and 1,5 mm at 24th fret. :) Easy to play and shreddddd. :)
Thanks for the nice review. What is your opinion on which is better: ZR or the original Edge, in terms of turning stability and longevity? I have Ibanez S520 with Edge-Zero II tremolo, which I am not happy with, otherwise a lovely guitar. Thinking of RG550 genesis (with OE) or may be getting ZR fit on my S520.
Hey, what's the issue you'ew facing with Edge Zero II ? I've been considering getting an S520 myself, but there are not many reviews of it online. What has been your experience with it?
@@chnacr2 With some occassional tremolo use, it is fine, but with modrate to heavy use, it goes out of tune. It think EZ-II is a cheap quality tremolo. The guitar itself is fine and the USP for me was the slim profile and ligher weight. The pick-ups are average quality. If you are in to Satch and Vai tremolo use, then for guitars with Original Edge (Satch), Lo-Pro Edge (Vai), or the original Floyd Rose. Of course, both tremolo and pickus are changeable on the S502 to higher quality later.
@@gorimus Thanks for the insightful comment! Yeah the original edge and floyd rose probably have the best stability, but unfortunately guitars featuring them are out of my budget (even the Genysis guitars cost more than 2x of an S520). And aftermarket parts (like gotoh) aren't easily available where I live. I was under the impression that the ZE II was the best in the sub $1000 range. Is there any other locking trem system that you think is superior in that budget?
@@chnacr2 EZ-II is fine for moderate use. If your budget is around 40-50k, then S520 is a good option. Check Schecter and Harley Benton with FR terms. You are right, the best cost-effective option is RG550 Genesis. I am eying the Genesis if I can sell my S520. Noting wrong with it but just want a different guitar now.
@@chnacr2 ya it can be hard to find a video on certain guitars, most of these channels cover Ibanez, but the bigger channels might not always have the guitar your looking for. Ibanez has the most range of guitars out of everyone, and it can be tricky looking for different one's. my suggestion would be to the type the name of the model and see what pops up, another thing you can do is type Edge Zero II. im sure something about that is bound to pop up, because Ibanez uses that on a number of there models, but it's most common on the S range and certain RG models as well. i don't know if that helps, but it's the best i can think of. i was thinking of getting an Ibanez, i haven't had one since my Gio which was back in 2008. that's when i started getting into guitar, but there were problems with that guitar. it was all i could afford at the time, it was 169. but i always wanted to try a better one, but RG Series and S series were a little pricer back then. the S Series was the next up from Gio, but they didn't have a S Series guitar under 399, and the RG Series used to start around 499. the Gio Series averaged between 159 to 250.
Hey sumit great video! I would greatly appreciate you're feedback! I have a schecter hellraiser hybrid pt, an ibanez premium az242f, a fender jim root tele, an ltd M-1000 koa...would i still play the s520ex if i have those other guitars? Im thinking of picking one up, but im not sure if it keeps up with my others...
The 520 is amazing when it comes to playability. The neck is fast and the term is unbeatable. The stock pickup suck. In Sumit’s guitar I had put dimarzios. So with good pickups and properly set up guitar you will end up playing the Ibanez more. Sumit has a PRS and I have seem him play the black Ibanez more.
Dude thanks for advice but i ended up getting some more money to play with(im selling a ridiculous bong collection)...i went with an rg521. Not the original but a throwback/reissue. Its MIJ and made to the original spec for spec. It has the same QC as a prestige. It sold for 999.99 cuz it didn't come with the prestige case and Infiniti PUs instead of dimarzio. It came with a prestige case and has a Seymour D. mayhem set when i got it...so it's basically a prestige. I think they left prestige off the headstock cuz prestige was around when the OG 521 came out, and they built that RG a little smaller than today's RGs so it probably wouldn't fit to well...
good choice man. I would say the only difference in your guitar and the prestige would be the fret treatment and rolled fretboard. Since you have Duncan’s in yours, you have a killer shred machine. Enjoy the playing.

Nice guitars. We were hoping to see the tremolo in action. We will have to wait for the next video.
Shall make and post one ASAP
The S actually stands for Sabre and the tuners are not locking
The nut is locking
You got a great collection of guitars there sir! :)
I have the S670QM and its a very nice guitar for the price and it stays in tune. The S Stand for Saber Model. Great video. :)
