This actually moved me. Obviously I love Anthony Jackson for a number of reasons. He is about as serious as you can get on this planet in terms of his love for the instrument, as a musician and his views on music. His resume is vast, and his rhythmic convictions are signature and undeniable. This is one of the greatest examples of chordal bass work ever done.
This same bassist, in my opinion, the best living all around bassist, can also get extremely funky AND play this genre of music, among others. Anthony Jackson: Brilliance at more than the 10th power!
Akiko is one stellar musician. She is a superb pianist and has a lovely voice. There aren't many female artists so gifted. Anthony plays a lot with Hiromi, but needs a less virtuosic accompanyment here.
Wow! A.J's playing here it's awesome. So fine and mature, layin' down a great impro! Thanks for uploading this. Greetings from the "rotten" Mexico city! ja ja.
i'm mesmerized with this music presentation cause i have never view any of Mr. Anthony Jackson's bass videos before. not that i've never heard of him though i'm very impressed!
@visog It's Akiko Yano i think she already played a concert with Hiromi. Don't ask me if i know her work cause that's not the case, i just googled the japanese name to see who it was ^^
Ok I love the timbre of the bass. I respect that he has created a new subset of the classical guitar. There is a century of learning that is to be done on what he has created with this instrument. But want a waste putting all of that design and effort into both development and playing such an instrument; which is inherently flawed in terms of intonation. The guitar is an instrument that will always be out of tune by design. So why create a bass with the same flaws. It seems that this genius of a musician and creator as well as the world would have been better served if this bass guitar would have been fretless!. Listen to the chords especially when he has to play a B against them. There is a reason why violins, viola, cello and bass don't have frets! Now before you get crazy, do your self a favor and begin by reading "How Equal Temperament Ruined Harmony" by Ross W. Duffin. There are many more resources on the subject. I am just saying that that bass and the new version would have a much better sound, to better serve this great mind and musician Mr. Jackson.
You'd really have to ask the man himself. I could sit here and either agree or argue with the point you make (a well thought out point I might add) but in the end I think there's a definite line of reasoning that he employed in developing the instrument the way he did and it'd be interesting to hear him address your critique.
To my knowledge, AJ has always played fretted bass. And I don't see it being tremendously harmful playing an equal-tempered instrument in a combo where the only other pitched instrument is also equal-tempered tuned. There are a couple of reasons right there why it was made fretted. And I say this as a double bassist/fretless electric bassist.
Wow he can play! And he's got a great aesthetic. And the tune is pretty uplifting. Well done everyone involved! I don't think it's Hiromni but her name comes up as squares so it's hard to tell.
Come on!!! Akiko Yano is as well known as Hiromi and has an impeccable pedigree playing and singing in the Yellow Magic Orchestra with Ryuchi Sakomoto. She is known as the Japanese Kate Bush for her quirky voice. She has played piano duets with Hiromi.
May I ask you where you got the footage from? Checking for almost half an hour here if there is a DVD available but without luck. So I was wondering. I ecspecially love this version of the song. Thank you in advance.

Anthony Jackson is the Bass GOAT! 🔥
its too bad we don't have a better quality audio of this on YT, the high-end really suffers at this resolution. love this track
De lo mejor del Bass...
Único y mágico!
Masterpiece.
What kind of society do we live in where true art like this isn't played on the radio?
First heard Anthony on Dave Weckl's first solo disc. He is simply amazing.
You've probably heard him before then "For the Love of Money" by the O Jays, that's Anthony, years ahead of every other bassist, as usual!
キリン!!懐かしすぎる!
Wow! A.J's playing here it's awesome. So fine and mature, layin' down a great impro!
Thanks for uploading this. Greetings from the "rotten" Mexico city! ja ja.

Amazing
Definitely: the Andres Segovia of the bass.
Hi Akiko san, Cliff san, and Anthony san. Awesome version!! I'll be in Japan this summer for about 6 weeks and hope to catch a show. Karen (in WI)
Wow.. absolute incredible.
Brilliant!
I think AJ said it best during a BP interview: Most people nowadays are low-brain capacity listeners. Too much audio information to follow...
i'm mesmerized with this music presentation cause i have never view any of Mr. Anthony Jackson's bass videos before. not that i've never heard of him though i'm very impressed!
A true master!!!
Amazing Musicianship!!!!!!!!!!! #i'm a fan of music
Society is in shambles, but I am glad this isn't on the radio. The radio blows.
pitchshifting(octaves)+echo(audiobuffer). the effect reflects the title. great solo anyway!
@Evin07 I think the video was off for just a bit, I noticed that too.
@visog

i was just thinking about how i need another bullshit armchair academic opinion about why Anthony Jackson should do things differently. thank you...
Hendrix was barely in tune at the best of times.... Being in tune isn't everything...

Linndo som !! =)
Anthony's looking thin in this clip.
クロノ・トリガー、回る

does everybody has notes (sheet) of it ?
Really hard but it doesn't move me. Way too cerebral for me.
You better go get your ears checked.
He uses a flanger sometimes as well.
May I ask you where you got the footage from? Checking for almost half an hour here if there is a DVD available but without luck. So I was wondering. I ecspecially love this version of the song.
Thank you in advance.
This video is included in Akiko Yano's DVD "TWILIGHT". Thank you.

最後カマ声!?
アンソニー・ジャクソンとかスティーブ・ガッドみたいな人は確かに上手いけど、感動がないプレイだと思う。
