- Experience the stunning beauty of the Philippines as I embark on an unforgettable journey from Bulalacao to Panay Island! My day started early with a warm meal shared with the incredibly helpful and kind police officers at the Bulalacao police station, who made my stay comfortable and welcoming. After a peaceful morning, I made my way to the Bulalacao Port at 9:30 AM. Despite its small size and lack of a large terminal, I had to pay a 70-peso terminal fee before boarding the ferry.
The ferry ride itself was quite an experience. The FastCat ferry was massive, with three floors filled with passengers, trucks, and vehicles. Although the fare was on the higher side-700 pesos for myself and 600 pesos for my bicycle-the 3-hour journey was worth every bit. The ferry offered breathtaking panoramic views as we cruised past numerous small islands, and I spent the entire time on the rooftop deck, taking in the stunning scenery. It was my first ferry ride in the Philippines, and I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the surrounding islands and the serenity of the sea.
After reaching Panay Island’s Caticlan Port, I was greeted by the sight of an airport with AirAsia and Cebu Pacific planes ready for takeoff. The island was not overly crowded, but the heat was intense. Despite the heat, I pushed through and cycled 20 kilometers to reach the town of Ibajay. Exhausted but satisfied, I found refuge at the local police station, where I was kindly welcomed and allowed to rest for the night.
This journey has been one filled with incredible natural beauty, kind-hearted people, and new experiences. From island-hopping on the ferry to meeting generous locals and law enforcement, this leg of my Philippines adventure has been truly memorable.
