Always start with cleaning harnesses and quickly brush all the dust off all the wires and conduit. You can prevent and spot problems. Then, use a test light to see if the fuse circuit is energized when the computer is not plugged in. If it is, visually trace the wiring and find the short. If that doesn't work..... Next, use a multimeter to test resistance of each wire related to the ecm harness. And backprobe each wire when harnesses are plugged together.... to identify resistance across the harness pins. And buy a smart probe for ten bucks at harbor freight and test each wire related to ecm to be sure it has connection to either positive or negative terminal of the battery. Also, you should be able to pry open the computer housing and check for damage on the circuit board. If you see signs of water intrusion, that's probably what's up. You may also see leaking capacitor tubes . Or insects.

Also, all the ground bolts on the engine and frame need periodic cleaning. This is a good excuse to spend an hour or two and do that.
