My Dad formed a band and played Herb's music in the mid to late 60's. He was a household name at our house. We would come home from school and my dad would be practicing all day , he got so good at it that we couldn't tell if it was him on the trumpet or one of Herbs records. Miss those days.

😳 Greg, I was reading your comment about your Dad, being a trumpet player and sounded like Herb Alpert. Do you remember if your Dad listen to Al Hirt too?
😳 Al Hirt was very popular aswel!

A rare gem, where the uploader did not erase the live audio and replace it with the studio version.
Too many uploaders think that they are clever by using the studio's audio, when they are actually insulting the artists that performed, live, to be heard -- only not to be heard, because someone with a laptop and editing software replaced their performance's audio with the common studio release's audio.
Studio released audio is available everywhere you turn. It is the audio from the live events that is disappearing, because people are erasing them.
Watch (and listen) to how great it was to not only see the Herb and his band, but to also hear Herb and his band with the sound from the actual event.

I remember watching this, I was five. I also bugged my mother to buy the album for me. Herb always looked and sounded like he was having the best time. And he also always had good lookin' women around him ( oh yea, even at 6 [by then] I knew I wanted to see what was under all that whipped cream). It made such an impression on me, I could not wait to play trumpet in the 6th grade. I even was a music major in college ("French" horn in orchestra and trumpet in jazz band). Funny how thing effect us when we are young. I still really like this album. Reminds me of Christmas 1966, in Diboll, Texas. Very different times then. Still great music.

I first saw Lani Hall, when she appeared as a member of Sergio Mendes and Brazil ‘66 at a concert at my university, many decades ago. I could not believe what a beautiful singing voice, this attractive young woman possessed!
I just recently saw Herb Alpert and his lovely wife, Lani Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Alpert were absolutely superb in concert.
Mr. Alpert said that he was glad to be appearing at the legendary Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ because the “Basie Theatre was older than me.” (Mr. Alpert is a still very youthful 87-years-old.)
After the great Lani Hall performed a medley of Brazil ‘66 songs, concluding with “Mas Que Nada,” the entire audience leapt out of their seats and gave her a rousing and prolonged standing ovation; Ms. Hall seemed to be taken aback and very moved by such an enthusiastic response by the audience.
Mr. Alpert commented that his wife was one of our country’s great musical artists after the standing ovation she received from the concert-goers.
Mr. and Mrs. Alpert are phenomenal musical artists; it was an especially wonderful and memorable night of musical entertainment.

The instrumental form of lip-sync. Actually, Herb is playing all the trumpet parts on the recording, so it's kinda funny that they have some other guy there pretending to play the trumpet.

Why do some people always have to add an extra syllable to "Tijuana"? Sadly, even Herb has done it, when pronouncing his band's name!
    It's pronounced, "Tee-WANNA," NOT "tee-a-wanna."

On one album, the TJB performed “Martha, My Dear.” Also on that album, the great Lani Hall sang a duet with her husband and, listening to them together, you realize that Mrs. Albert is THE singer in the Alpert family.

What sense could it make to compare musicians of completely different genres to finally choose a 'winner'? Aside from the fact that music is definitely not a competition, would anyone like an artist's music more just because it ranked higher in a ranking? Music doesn't work that way, thank god.

Tonni Kalash-2nd trumpet; Bob Edmondson-trombone/percussion; Nick Ceroli-drums; Pat Senatore-Fender bass guitar; John Pisano-electric guitar; Lou Pagani-piano.
It should be noted that Herb used many members of LA's "The Wrecking Crew" (studio musicians) in the TJB's early albums up through "Whipped Cream" and into "Going Places" (2-3 songs), using well-known musicians such as Hal Blaine-drums (his idea for the bass drum "hook" on Taste of Honey), Carol Kaye-Fender bass; Plas Johnson-tenor sax; and Leon Russell-piano (yes - that guy!), plus numerous others.
