Is the angle the horse is standing what causes his rump to look shorter and less rounded?
I'm about done watching part 2 & I noticed the ears in the reference aee in the other direction. Do horses ears go back and forth depending on the direction they are going?
I mentioned in part 1 I was changing the direction. The horse can move its ears normally in the direction of sound. You can tell the attitude though by how the ears move. For example when forward like I made the one in this painting they are alert or looking at something, when back they can be annoyed or angry. Way back is a sign of sickness. Normally when relaxed they are straight up. I always communicated with my horse paying attention to his ear position. If he sees a snake on the trail and I don't. Ears tell a lot what they are thinking.
@JansenArtEducation I missed that in the first video. How fasonating! I've rode a horse twice when I was younger but I'm learning more about the beautiful creatures everyday. I visited sand dunes in CO. when I was 10. Saw park eangera on horses...great memories!
Enjoy your painting style has been very helpful, brushes and paints are great, very organized, westerns are great however would like to see less of subjects face, usually try to redraw, so cowboy is looking down or over shoulder, not the best at drawing, live on a ranch is Montana would like to think it could be my husband or myself.
