I live in Hawaii also. I’m from Japan originally. My parents are getting really old. Eventually I like to go back to Japan if my husband agrees with me…
Congratulations to Chris. What a wonderful, nicely renovated home in a very desirable neighbourhood (I know it well from many visits). Shu, again you did a great job and helped someone to make his dream come true. Honestly, I envy Chris but can wait for the next opportunity. In the meantime, enjoying Shu's videos.
The prices are indeed very reasonable compared to similar size properties in US or Europe. Biggest drawback is the frequent earthquakes in Japan. Most of the properties unless in or very close to major cities are probably not a good investment. If the property purchase is for retirement or a vacation home then it's a deal.
If Chris ever has this house listed for AirBnb, I'll definitely book it! I remember watching the original video and loving the house. Y'all keep up it up!! :)
Hey Shu, can you make a video on what a typical renovation entails? Like what about insulation? This house I’m living in now is so and so cold every winter. Is insulation and adding floor heating something that’s in your renovation budget?
What a top bloke! Shu out here smoothung things out for the people for real! Trust me if i buy a akiya in japan, best believe ill be doing thru Shu's services. Congrats Chris and keep up the great content Shu! How good is this huh!?
Hello Shu, Small point. People who are from Hawaii but not native Hawaiian are not called "Hawaiian". They are normally referred to as "from Hawaii". Small point but may offend native Hawaiians.
You said it was super hot during the summer, I never see AC in houses in Japan, does everybody just do without AC pretty much. Also in cold areas it seems like there is no heating either. I was just wondering are really hot summers hard for a lot of Americans in Japan to adjust and deal with?
I’m a realtor in Houston Texas and suburbs and if your clients want to find a home in Texas. I can help and offer finder fee. I also do social media and UA-cam videos. I’m planning to go to Japan in summer 2025 and if you are able to show some real estate down there will be awesome!
So he had not seen the property in person before buying it? The 10 other real estate companies that he reached out to, did he try to communicate with them in English or in Japanese? If he emailed them in English, I kind of understand why they ignored him. If he tried to reach out in Japanese then he should have heard back from them. Are Japanese real estate companies avoiding to work with foreigners because they perceive them as being a hassle to work with?
about the title - Hawaiian is an ethnic race, just because you are a Hawaii resident doesn't make you "Hawaiian". Now maybe this guy does have some Hawaiian blood but I see too many media outlets make the mistake of labeling anyone from Hawaii as Hawaiian.
it's correct to call someone from Hawaii "Hawaiian" even if they don't have native roots. However, "Native Hawaiian" refers specifically to indigenous people of the islands.
Would you buy a vacation home like this in Japan?

Wow, I went to school in Yokohama in the 80s, and that's a great neighborhood. I'm really enjoying your videos.

Summer just ended too in california thank god! It was over 100 or 40c for past 2 week. Now is around 29c.
Great house ❤️

Hello Shu! We’re currently living in China, visited Japan a few years ago. We’re very serious about purchasing a property there. How can I get to you?

Alright, Hawaiian!
How much did this Hawaiian pay for these two houses (in USD)? Thanks!
