    Hi,
    I have upgraded to the same tyre from stock tyres at 51K, Still Stock was Good and 25% Life was Remaining, however i choose to Upgrade to Michelin, 255/55/R18
    1) Vehicle Does Feel More Planted Now and provides extra confidence
    2) Rides Becomes Smooth
    3) Stearing Bit Felt 5 to 8 % Heavy, But it ok with me
    4) Vibration and Jerks Got Reduced to Very Good Extent
    5) Doesn't Look Odd, And Dont get touch anywhere in the wheel wel..
    6) Fuel Economy Doesn't Matter for me at this Level of Car and is very negligible Diff.
    7) Drove Around 850 Kms on New Tyres.
    Thank You for your inputs !!

      Great to know. Regarding point 2&3 - when I changed my tyres, the dealer suggested that I do the low point matched for the tyre and alloy while doing wheel balancing (the wheel balancing machine measures and shows the alignment points between tyre and alloy). This made the steering lighter. You can ask for the same when you go for balancing next time.
      You should now get more confidence in high speed cornering and braking.

      Sir,
      Can you please Elaborate, I could not understand your point Regarding Balancing...
      Thank You...

      It is called 'match mounting'. For match mounting the tyre, the tyre's lightest spot (red/yellow dot mark on the tyre) is aligned with the wheel's heaviest spot. Modern tyres do not come with the red/yellow dot. But a hunter tyre balancer machine can measure and locate the point in the tyre and the point in the wheel/alloy . While fitting the tyre, these points are aligned. You can read this article for more details : www.wheel-size.com/articles/match-mounting/

    Hi, Nicely explained !!
    1) Does Tyre looks slightly out of the wheel arches ?
    2) Any underbody touching on Bad Roads ?
    3) Does it Look Bulky ?

      Hi, thanks for your comment.
      The tyres are not coming out of the wheel arches and do not look oversized or bulky. Neither does it touch the body in any condition. Hope this helps. Would be great if you support our channel by subscribing it. Thanks!

    I have safari 235/65/r17 size , i want to change it to 235/65/r18 . can I upgrade it to this size?

    • @thewanderlusters5973
      @thewanderlusters5973  Місяць тому

      I don't think you can. If you want a R18 tyre, you will have to change the rims. You will also have to reduce the side wall height if you increase the rim size. The idea is to keep the overall diameter of the wheel unchanged. Otherwise you will face issues while driving. The wheel may even touch with wheel arches.

    Sir, Hi few more questions
    1) Have you faced any Changes or troubleshoot with respect to TPMS, as Tyre pressure will definitely change due to change in size
    2) Any Change in Performance of ABS Behaviour in Hard Braking situations you noticed
    3) Any Troubleshoot with respect to EBD you experience, How Many KMS you have completed till now and in how many months
    Your input on above will add more value for others for choosing these tyres

    • @thewanderlusters5973
      @thewanderlusters5973  3 місяці тому

      1. There is no trouble shooting required, we need to continue to maintain 33psi pressure and it is correctly measured by the TPMS.
      2. With the stock tyres on, I used to experience excess vibration and noise when ABS was engaged. With the tyre upgrade the vibration/noise has reduced (an improvement).
      3. No issues with EBD, overall the braking has improved. I have driven 8000 KM with the new tyres including 4k Km long drive in the last 4 months.

    I've covered 78k kms on my safari 2021 (2.5 years) with stock tyres (Bridgestone ecopia 235/60 R18). Didn't feel the need to change for probably another 10k or 15k KMs as I mostly drive on highways and grip and steering feedback is still fine. But I've to travel to Ladakh and there obviously these will not work so I've decided to change tyres. Which tyres you suggest and why? Such off-road trips are rare scenarios but highways and mild off-road trips happen very often.

      Hi, 78K is quite a lot... great to see it runs so long. If you would like to stick to the stock size, I would recommend Michelin Primacy SUV 235/60/R18. These are made for 70% highway and 30% off-road usage which fits your needs including the trip to Ladakh (I am assuming that you are going to target the regular Ladakh circuit not requiring extreme off-roading. I have used it in the past in my Renault Duster and it performs really well with great grip, ride comfort and lower road noise. If you want even better off-road capability then go for Yokohama Geolander AT, these are all terrain tyres which are more rugged with a stronger sidewall but you will compromise with ride quality and road noise. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 255/55/R18is the best for highways, but not recommending you because of your Ladakh trip although it can pull off minor off-roading. If you are little careful and avoid any sidewall damage/cut in the Ladakh trip, these can be a good option provided you are OK with a mileage drop of 1-2 litres and shorter tyre life. Hope this helps you choose the tyre. I think Michelin Primacy SUV will be the safest choice for your needs. Please SUBSCRIBE to our channel to stay connected if you like.

    Did upsizing affected the mileage. Does it increase or decrease

    Can it handle mild to moderate offroading though?

    • @thewanderlusters5973
      @thewanderlusters5973  3 місяці тому +1

      It can very well do bad roads and mild/moderate off-roading . Had no problems so far. However we can't expect the ruggedness and grip of AT or mud terrain tyres.

      @@thewanderlusters5973 Lovely. And do you have any idea if upsizing the same way for an XUV700 is ok? I'm concerned about the tyre touching the inside of the car body.

    • @thewanderlusters5973
      @thewanderlusters5973  3 місяці тому +1

      @@akshayshetty389 this tyre is not taller, but wider than the stock tyres. So would suggest you fit it in XUV700 and test once. The dealer should be ok with that. Request you to subscribe to the channel if you please.

      Overall very happy with the decision. Steering feels lighter, excellent grip and cornering and didn't notice fall in fuel efficiency. On bad roads the car is 20% more smooth. Please subscribe to our channel if you like. Happy and safe driving.
