    It’s so crazy how worldly famous Treehouse Brewing Company. I didn’t even know how big of a deal it was until about a couple of months ago. And it’s two towns over from me. Just became in love with their Alter Ego, Sap and Perfect Storm! So delicious!

    Treehouse is in Charlton Massachusetts. Even though its fairly rural its 15 minutes outside of Worcester.
    Alot of people think Massachusetts ends at Framingham.

    As someone who lives 5 min from Trillium and within 45 min of Treehouse, I am incredibly burnt out by the NEIPA style. I've found myself craving a more balanced BU:GU ratio in my beers with even a bit more in the maltiness direction. That being said, I can't deny how lucky I am to have these nearby and almost always readily availble.

      Late reply here, but you should check out oxbow up in ME. They do more farmhouse style ales instead of NEIPAs. Also ME beer Co has great IPAs that are very refined west coast style IPAs

    Heading to Tree House this Saturday, and looks like Alter Ego will be on tap (we shall see). I had Green at Siptemberfest in Vermont (quite good), and hopefully some day will get some Julius. My favorite DIPA at the moment is Lawson's Sip of Sunshine from Warren, VT (contract brewed at Two Roads.) Lotsa a tropical fruits on the nose, and great balance of bitterness and malt. A lovely brew.

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  7 років тому +1

      Did ya get any Julius?!

    • @bmurray1956
      @bmurray1956 7 років тому +1

      Oh yes! and luckily had three companions in tow (they marveled at the long line when we got there 15 minutes before opening.) So it was 6 cans of Julius, 4 cans of Sap per person, and they ran out of Ma before we reached the counter after an hour in line. The only shocking thing is they required photo ID to purchase, and my 60 year old self left it at home, but the 3 companions had theirs, whew! The Julius is transcendent, and well worth the wait, a melange of mango, fresh orange juice, tangerine, citrus dankiness on the nose and a resplendent, chewy mouth feel and a hoppy bite surprise on the back palate. I'm already ruing the day I'll run out (which is soon :-(

    Heady Topper is always intriguing. Since it was the one that kinda started the NEIPA beer trend, which I love.. It still has hop bite for sure. Its juicy, its fruit and hazy, but its also plenty bitter and resiny.
    Fast Forward a bit, and you've got some of the best examples of NEIPAs today, are straight fruit smoothies. So hazy they pour like Sunny D, so fruity it blows your mind when you find out they're not adding fruit extracts, and so mouth coatingly delicious that I honestly cant believe beer tastes like this.
    I dont want to make it even harder to get.. but.. Industrial Arts brewing. Wrench NEIPA. Good lord. Its just a mango pineapple explosion. No. No its gross. Dont seek it out.

    #TEAMGREEN!! I think Julius is amazing but I prefer Green, as I think its more on the tropical side of things, and Julius is more orange forward. I haven't tried much Trillium yet, but both Vicinity and Headroom were amazing, some of the best DIPA's I've had! They actually also just started canning their hoppy beer. Cool video guys, and your collab didn't sound too far off. Cheers!

I think as far as the NE style hoppy beers goes, my favorite by quite a bit is Trillium. Each and every one of their beers has blown me away. I know this was posted 4 years ago but I've just recently discovered NEIPA's. I haven't had the luxury of tasting those beers in that lineup although I'm so tempted to make the road trip to Tree House. But here in Maine we have a great selection on this style. Having said that I think that you really need to check out Finback's DDH NEIPA's. They are out of New York and are currently my absolute favorite brewery even with all the amazing local Maine brewery's. My second favorite has to be Other Half also out of New York. Must be something in the water in New York. But this is mostly due to the fact I can't get a hold of some of the top NEIPA's as they just don't make it here in Maine.
    Love the video's and am glad I discovered this channel!

    Me and my son were actually hugely inspired by your Gypsy Hill/Drifter brewing session, so we went ahead and re-engineered your recipe, using the same hops types (which by the way were completely unavailable in Denmark, but we managed to get them from Sweden instead). End result (Name: The Gypsy King, Fruity Summer Beer) was amazing and you should definitely taste it !! BUT, I am getting ready to brew batch #2 and now you say you will release your recipe 'early summer' - not good enough, we need it like right now in the next 3-4 days. I'd totally appreciate if you could pre-release it, so we can compare to what we did and maybe make some adjustments ;o) Greetings, Jens in Denmark

    I love craft brewing and trying other people's brews but I'm also old school. A style of beer is a style of beer and if that style requires a lot of IBUs and it doesn't then, it's just not cricket!
    That said, I still want to try these beers because, well.... Beer!

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому

      We're a bit more loose in our styles. I'd rather people tried all the beers at the bar to find the right one than just ordered IPAs all night!

    I'm hyped for the recipe, I'm planning to brew something like that and would love to take inspiration. Sadly in Toronto, there's not a whole lot of examples of that kind of beer, only the Redline Clutch and maybe the Burdock Vermont Pale Ale come close. Really Toronto is heading more for a southern Belgium farmhouse summer with a bit of Munich Helles on the side.

    Epic beers, didn't get to try heady or Julius earlier this year when I went to Boston but had loads of trillium beers including Congress street, all delicious and had Tree house green which blew me and my brewer friends away!
    Definitely check out Other Half Brewing beers from New York next time you go over. Trillium and Tree house are both incredible but for me Other Half was even better when I went to visit. They did a DIPA with Galaxy, Motueka and Wai-Iti hops, 8% and so incredibly juicy, tropical with just the right amount of dankness and bitterness. Probably top IPA of this year if not ever! Cheers!

    my Crowler arrived yesterday.. I kind of want to and also dont want to open it.. sort of treasure it but I guess its best fresh. I also ordered some IHL from Camden after your review videos as well as the other Gipsy Hill and Cloud Water beers. I have to say my cans of IHL didnt really wow me with real hop forwardness. Maybe its not fresh enough, still a good beer though.
    I couldnt wait for the homebrew video so made my own with (Pale, Oats, Cara Hell, acidulated malt) and used Equinox, El Dorado and Motueka (couldnt get Azaaca ) also with London yeast so I am hoping for something close to Drifter... fingers crossed.!!!

    Next time you're in New England if you happen to be in Connecticut again. I'd recommend stopping down by the shore to Beer'd. Its a great brewery, one of Connecticut finest. Outer Lights is very good as well not far from there. If you guys head to treehouse again I could also recommend about a 25 min. drive through back country roads to Ellington, CT. There is a relatively new brewery there called Cold Creek and they're making some amazing beers. Their stouts and sours are fantastic. They're really making a name for themselves with their sours though.

  • @nicolasbertin8552

    I've tried Trillium, Maine, Treehouse, Alchemist, and to me, I'd put Treehouse first, Maine second, Trillium third and Alchemist last. I'm disappointed you haven't found out about Maine Brewing, their Dinner and Lunch beer are absolutely amazing. I like Alchemist but to me they're like Stone: good and properly done, but not "knock your socks off" with the frutiness and complexity that Treehouse brings. Treehouse and Maine are the freshest IPAs I know, alongside a fantastic Quebec brewery called Auval. If you don't know them, seek them out. They're usually only available in Gaspésie, a large peninsula East of the city of Québec, but their IPAs are just amazing for such a small and recent brewery... As for Trillium, I think they're better than Alchemist because they have a strong personality, they try a lot of stuff, and there's like a Trillium "taste", that slight lemon/lime finish in all their beers. Alchemist is doing the same beers over and over and they're incredibly hard to find, like Russian River. I don't like that.

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  7 років тому

      +Nicolas Bertin haha - yeah they are tricky to find but it's down to philosophy and size. Those guys don't want to expand too far and prefer to be local. Trillium I think are a bit more ambitious - nothing wrong with either approach especially as great beer gets more prevalent around the world. We know Maine brewery too - didn't manage to get any packaged for the video though. Had some great beer by them too though.

Also I know a guy who has this wonderful 100% Brett Pale Ale with Orange Zest that is amazeballs for a first batch. I will bugger him to brew a second batch and send you some cause I am sure you´d love it. Zesty Orval IPA Summerdrink to put it in general terms.

    Hey Friends, Which Brewery is Better Beavertown X Cloudwater ? My cousin is coming back to Brazil and I asked her to bring to me a Couple Beers from England. I like IPAs very much, só I am thinking of these two Brewerys.
    Can you advise me Up ?
    Thankssss

      Oooof, well both are world class so depends what you love! For NE IPA, lagers and sessions IPAS, Cloudwater. For West Coast styles and experiments, Beavertown. Get some of both, they are readily available in both Manchester and London.

    I've been both enjoying and appreciating your channel lately. I live in Massachusetts, USA. Home of Trillium and Tree House and not too far from the Alchemist and Hill Farmstead. Lucky me. Please keep up the good work but PLEASE turn off or down the background digital "music "
    It's annoying and distracting. It sometimes makes it difficult to hear what you are saying.

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel

    I've had the drifter and it is definitely a great beer! Any ideas on where i can get hold of the other beers in the video, in the uk?

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому

      Glad you liked it! Sadly none of these breweries ship to the UK. In fact they rarely ship out of the state, and Treehouse is only available in can from the brewery itself! Demand is crazy at the moment but once it dies down and the breweries expand the situation will improve...but maybe not so much it comes over the pond sadly.

    I'll be at Tree House in just 2 weeks now! Do they release Julius often? I imagine their other beers are just as good, but I'll be so happy if I manage to get some Julius. Great video guys!

    • @Arminius757
      @Arminius757 8 років тому +1

      Best bet is to check their website and see what's on tap for the week. Note that they only release what they are canning the day of and that they only sell certain hours on certain days. I know they canned some Julius last week, and from what I observed, there is no real rhyme or reason to what they can and when they can it. More so just luck of the draw.

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому +1

      Yep - what Mark said! Julius is the most common beer so more likely to get that than anything but it's luck of the draw. Glad you liked the vid!

    Definitely need to check out Troegs Brewing Co. if ever in Harrisburg/Hershey, PA area. Perpetual is a classic East Coast IPA (85 IBU, 7.5%). First Cut (seasonal) is a mild IPA with a focus on mango. Also a few solid Bocks and Stouts.

    So the drifter has come up quite clear in the crowler compared with the bottled stuff? Are you making more of this?? And are you gonna put it in a large can?! Because I would certainly buy it. A statement johnny - the beer merchant website isn't very good I don't think. Unfortunately most of the time I go to order- a lot of the beers are out of stock. And finally a question- the cloudwater DIPA v3 - will this be made again? It's impossible to find in pubs or in any quantity on the Internet. Thanks

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому

      Hey - the can had a bit of time to settle as it was upright and chilled in the fridge for about 2 weeks. More has been made and the crowler is in fact on Beer merchants! Speaking of which, the site is experiencing unprecedented demand at the moment so there's a lot of changes going on to keep up - stick with it!
      DIPA 3 will never be made again sadly, but DIPA 4 and 5 come out soon. And 6 might become a permanent beer.

    Do you think we will ever see these beers on the other side of the Atlantic, will Beermerchants get them?... although they seem to struggle to have good British beers in stock (Cloudwater DIPA I'm looking at you!!!!)

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому

      ah it's a tricky one. most of the demand for British beer in the US is for our traditional styles like bitters. You guys are so good at IPAs yourselves! I know some Siren and Cloudwater have made it across (the latter at Modern Times's dank festival) but otherwise I think it's just brewdog!

    Best place to get some cans of Julius back here in the UK? Do I have to buy online?

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  8 років тому

      Literally nowhere! You can only buy it straight from the brewery at the moment. Demand is so high they had to bring it all in house to control where it went. With their new brewery that will change but if it ever made it to the UK I was be shocked. Such a shame for us, but that's why we're hoping more brewers will make this style!

      British-wise there's our beer with Gipsy Hill, any of the DIPAs by Cloudwater and some pales like Summer Wine Juice Facilitator, Pressure Drop Pale Fire, Beavertown Gamma... abroad you should get any Omnipollo IPA. One of those will sort you out! Lots of available from our partners beermerchants.com

      The most loved IPA in the area is Cigar City Brewing's Jai Alai (Hi Lie), then there's Coppertail's Free Dive, then Tampa Bay Brewing Company's Old Elephant Foot and Reef Donkey, and anything brewed by Angry Chair. Cheers.

      The Craft Beer Channel - One is a beer that taste like a creamsicle. One is a legitimate IPA. Has Julius ever been number #1 in the world ? NEVER.

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  5 років тому +1

      So there is only one legitimate IPA? If so it is currently Two Hearted by Bells. Not heady. Either way, the amazing variety in beer is what makes it the greatest drink on earth and makes being a beer drinker now so exciting. You want a juice bomb, have a Julius. You want a dank, resiny bitter ipa have a heady. You want a piny, citrus fresh ipa have a Two Hearted. They are all awesome.
