Hi Ajay I am excited that you managed to go to the Myanmar / Burma border. Keep up the good work. The green stuff or veg is called petai in Malaysia and nice to eat mixed with anchovies and chilly . It is also called petai in English too. It is nice to know that Tamils are everywhere all over the world . These border Tamils most of them are originally were from Yangon/ Rangoon in 1960s and had to retreat back to Tamil Nadu due harsh treatment by the Burmese Army.their lands and property were seized . The Tamils were relocated to Burma Baazar in Chennai . Some of them wanted to go back to Burma but were held back and stopped by the Burmese Army at Manipur and could not go back. That’s how the settlement came. Even now if go to Yangon you could see a lot Tamils in Yangon at least 1 out of 10 are Tamils in Yangon. In the 1960s half of Yangon population are Tamils . But now they are doing not well economically and very poor most of them. Very sad to see. There are a lot of temple in Yangon too.. Sadly most of the kids can’t talk Tamil. And the only words they know Anne. They are prevented from talking in Tamil. Even those elders in 50s don’t talk Tamil among themselves . Tamil is dying there . I was there 4 years ago. Proud to be a Tamilian. Valge Tamil. Regards ANBALAGAN Malaysia

Hi Ajay: Excellent video of Indo Myanmar border and the Tamil community there. The temple there is awesome. It is indeed a matter of pride that some Non-Tamils living in the Tamil community have also learned the language and speak it well. Long ago, in the early 70s, in Chennai, we used to have a maid who was a refugee from Burma. She said her name was Thayi and that her whole family had to run away from Burma because of the anti Indian riots there in the 60s.

The green vegetable is called 'petai' by Malaysians. In English it's called stinky bean. The bean is taken out from the long vegetable. The beans are cooked with enchovios or prawn n chilli paste, onion. Cooked as hot n spicy gravy.
Yes... The petai sambal dish is one of our favourite and the local folks in most of south east Asian countries eat them raw like a salad (Ulam) or dip it in a spicy shrimp sauce (sambal belacan). Beware of the toilet smell after eating it, the stinky smell is rather strong which can be a bit embarrassing. The vegetable nuts is believed to have some medicinal properties to ease diabetes.
Bro I am living in Burma. You have to take care bro there were many political problems in Burma. Also have many tamil temple .you must visit Yangon /Mandalay /Pyin oo lwin /Naypitaw.
The green colour beans like vegetable is called "petai" in Malaysia. It is very strong smell in urine, extremely good for diebetes! Very famous in Malaysia, Thai, Burma, etc.
Burma was under Chola Empire upto Thailand,Indonesia and the entire East Asia countries including sone Tibet and part of Chinese land apert from Bothi Tharmar from Pallava Kingdom Near Mamallapuram.
It is a good source of minerals, and is especially high in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron. Petai is high in fibre, and contains considerable amounts of vitamin C and E, as well as the vitamins A, B1, B2, and B3. This makes petai one of the most nutritious local vegetables.
