That's the point, the keep influence and the faster tc work rate are moved to jeanne. Also, losing her in early game is a severe loss in tempo since you have to pay 100g for a revive.
@@ville4090 How easy is it to lose a unit wth 225 HP and regen in feudal though? I mean yeah if you play bad it would be bad but overall the downsides to Jeanne D'Arc faction over French are negligible and the advantages massive.
Didn’t know anything about her. Was dominating a guy while I was French, thought it was basically over and before I knew it my units are getting decimated by a Joan on horseback with buffed units around her. Came here to make sure it doesn’t happen again
Man I wish instead of Jeanne D Arc we would have got Baldwin IV with the civ being called Kingdom of Jerusalem it would've fit so much better with the theme of the campaign the dlc is going for. Hell the aesthetic alone would be way more badass his bodyguards being templars or hospitallers whether on foot or horse and his final level him being carried around on his bed doing his best to lead and support his army. Miss opportunities for a very unique looking variant civ with a combination of European and Middle Eastern architecture. It hurts especially since I just found out the campaign has templars and hospitallers unit models that are only in the new campaign and didn't use them for a variant civ.
Wait, she can capture sacred sites seeing the first permanent buff she has? From what age onward? Relics aren't mentioned, but sacred sites is already priest territory, so...? Or does it just mean being in the vicinity of a priest capturing one to get xp?
is it really best to consecrate TC first? If you're going to be making knights that's a discount of 35 every 28 seconds (with SoC) whereas tc is 13 food discount every 20 seconds so that just feels like way more value
Can that ultimate ability be used on allied units in team games? I'm imagining how powerful it would be buffing some Delhi elephants, or something from Order of the Dragon.
You're pronouncing Jeanne d'Arc well except you pronounce the an like in Jean, but in jeanne both e's are silent. it's like Jane except with a fully open A sound as in Ann. Jeanne. Jann.
Kinda makes original French obsolete not sure if its a good idea. Not so hyped for the new update I feel its going to cause a ton of imbalancing issues and alot of the variants just seem like Old Civ ++
The consecrate ability states it only reduces food costs, but it seems to reduce all costs? Maybe I missed Beasty mentioning this. Is this intended? Also, can you consecrate town centers to reduce villager / Jean d'Arc cost?
First time I played this civ (as a French main), I had heard that she was super strong and capable of soloing a boar. So I sent her to a boar, and continued developing. She died. XD
It seems that I'm missing something. Jeanne d'Arc seems like just a French civ but stronger. So what's the sense in taking simple French civ now? If I understood right, old civs won't disappear, right? So why should I take simple French when there is Jeanne d'Arc which is stronger because of having this kind of a hero unit with buffs?
Cool gameplay design, borderline disrespectful historically. Joan was not a badass girl boss warrior, she was more like a banner bearer who motivated troops. According to herself, she never killed anyone in combat.

If she were lore accurate, the monks would kill her in the castle age.
Brilliant 😂
Too soon.

English heretics.
brother its been 592 years xD@@nikeshinning763
Jeanne D'Arc seems very strong, but I still think they need to buff her resistance to fire damage....
Lol
me using greek fire just to kill jeanne d arc players
She actually can feel a little weak and maybe needs buffs

Something that Beasty forgot to mention here is that, Jeanne d'Arc can also capture sacred sites! Just saw it happen on his stream haha
Castle Age right?
JOHN DARK
imagine convert an elephant and use strength of heaven on it xD
It is worth taking the risk of loosing your relic at least.
I wish they made the normal civs a bit different as well with this patch because if you lay this civ the normal french will feel too vanilla
John Dark seems like a cool civ.
I hope I can buff an allied Order of the Dragon landsknecht with Jeanne, it would be glorious.
Whoa, haha
That would be nuts
some of these new civilizations are just freaking crazy. It seems like all the new ones crush the older civs in like every way.
Idk English longbows + men at arms is still pretty crazy or the Ottomans in general

36:10 knight damage went from 32 to 96 that's *300% damage, not +300% damage, sheesh the dev really need to proof read their tooltip.
Y only +200% so worth than the tooltip suggest it to be
but it seems the downside in regard of regular french isn't that impactful. its SEEMS like better french but harder to micro

Man finally I can’t wait for this series.
Thanks for the guide/preview thing👍
Rus would massively counter her level up in feudal as there would be barely any wolves or boar left on the map
You can get those boar, I believe, about the same time Rus can. About six, seven minutes
They buffed that Holy Wrath ability since he recorded this it does 50 damage now which is kinda insane in feudal
can you buff allied gilded knights?
Awesome vid! Can you consecrate allied buildings?
Jeanne dArc Lv4 probably can solo 100 pop fedual army by herself (including the companions and the strength of heaven buff)
So this civ is literally french, but better in almost every single way, with a way way better late game
Can she buff ally unit? So can she mandate heaven English king??? 👑 Or Khan?

I fear the new civs, although they look great, are a bit over the top compared to current civs. Don't you?
Giving a buff in attack speed to fully levelled up Arbs is going to melt everything.

The only thing I dont understand is why anybody would play regular French. This civ just seems better in almost every way.
faster vil production, cheaper eco buildings
And French can produce units cheaper around keeps. This new "civilization" don't.
@beasty she’s pronounced “Joan of Arc” the French spelling and pronunciation is different but that’s how we say it in English
lucifron will love this
how many building can u concencrate
John Dark best civ

can you buff an ally unit with her ult? imagine that buff on an ally landsknecht
esp a order of dragon landsknecht
Can we use strength of heaven ability on ally unit? Can you imagine that ability with an elephant....
Can she consecrate buildings of Allies?
Seems very fun but very hard. If you keep losing her in feudal then you will end up with no bonus for your civ.
Any reason to play French over Jeanne d'Arc? Dont think so, witch makes it a scam
With boths civs, i only build siege in 4v4(wood trader)
French have increased villager production speed which JDA doesn't have.
Jeanne D'Arcs champion does Ax (melee) damage, but they have swords... literally unplayable
What is the cheat code for Jeanne to gain xp?
Basically french but with a hero
I feel that with Jeanne you're either very aggresive or very dead.
