Hah! I love this comment! Thanks a bunch for the nice words, man. There might be a download-link on my soundcloud. Shoot me a youtube-message and I will give it to you! :)
@OpenMawProductions HAH! Yeah I was reading the comment in my mail and wasn't sure if you were trolling or not :p I used Fraps to capture it. Dunno why it hitches for you, got perfect 30 fps on the highest graphical settings, so that might be it, that it creates too much of a load on your computer to record and play at the same time..? I also record it to a separate harddrive then the game is run from, no idea if that helps or not, but might be worth mentioning!
I'm currently working on a cover of Grabbag and what you're saying is pretty true. I didn't want to play the same theme everyone else is playing, I'm trying to add some new things, new drum patterns, Guitar riffs, solo's and so far I think I've done it but it is hard to step out of Megadeth's shadow. They laid the foundation that's been remixed and added onto hundreds of times. I dunno.
@@urzi1849 I actually made another cover during Covid when the world shut down XD I released it outside of this project, not nearly as rocking as this one but I wanted it to be different. Funny thing you ask that though, I've been on a "Grabbag" kick for the last 2 weeks and am currently upgrading my recording equipment. I wanted to do a 3rd Grabbag cover to test out the new equipment once it all gets setup lol Maybe I'll just make Grabbag covers for the rest of my life
Well I dissagrew with the history you present there. The version Megadeth did was actually an accidental cover of a cover. The version they were sent to base their work off of was not Lee Jackon's. It was James Grote's version done for the DNF 1998 trailer. They sent that one off to Megadeth and they rendered a verison following that one. So really. The best place to start is the original Lee Jackson version. The version heard particularly on the atomic edition CD deserves more attention.
After extensively searching and listening to differant versions and covers of THE DUKE NUKEM THEME I still conclude that hands down, this is if not the best, amoung the greatest versions. Instead of that secondary guitar though should have used the Megadeaths Version secondary guitar. And maybe a few badass Duke Quotes. Come get some. Im not gonna fight you im gonna kick your ass. Hail to the King baby at the end.
And finish the quote in the beginning, Wait are you waiting for, Christmas? We meet again, minus the doctor Jones part. Oh, add a better and clears Gun Cocking sound. Then you have the greatest version. And yeah I know you used some of the quotes I said but spread them out maybe even use certains more than once but dont over due it.
they would cheese it up methinks, although I reckon if it was marvel or dc'ized it would make for a great movie but would be best in a theme like Deadpool humor
Faustin Vaillant I have a pc, the game is a prime example of what happens when you stick it in development hell for a few years, give it to someone else and then they rush it and DON'T get me started on "sequel factories".
What capture program did you use to grab the footage? Fraps wont let me record without hitching inconsistantly. This is excellent for the record. Fail the kings return! And an awesome track. Love the bit of retro sound you have at the end there too, that's great.
Shit, the finally music fades quiet back ground and you the pig cops say, we got you now Nukem and we're gonna fry your ass. And Duke responds with Im not gonna fight ya, im gonna kick your ass. And music comes back intense maybe even a bit faster or slower for one last round, and the end Hail to the King.
I don't disagree with any of that, I was aware of that too but what I'm saying is, Megadeth did the very first commercial (Keyword) cover that was full band, non midi oriented. They basically recomposed the theme entirely, which has now become almost like a reference guide to other musicians who are creating covers. And by Commercial I mean Very well known, I loved Grote's Version but compared to Megadeth it's a very unknown cover. By the way... /watch?v=ATZN_AAve28 (
Would it be ok if I sampled like 4 seconds of this for my intro? I'm updating my UA-cam channel and this would be perfect! (you would of course be credited if you wanted in the outtro :-)
Ok I know this was 11 months ago but I just got around to re-branding the channel and I have sampled this in the intro for the pilot episode and only just realised I forgot to credit you but I will put it in the description and I definitely will credit you in the outtro in future episodes but obviously only if you are still ok with me using it. Thanx again man :-)
hey Kristofer, have you got a version that doesn't have the duke voice over? I wann add it to my game music workout playlist, if u don't mind :-) I subscribed also :-)
Badass dude. Can't believe it took me 10 years to find this gem lol
Ya only found it now.
I've listened to and loved many covers and remixes of this song and yours is truly one of the best! Very well done brotha
@OpenMawProductions Sorry, I meant HAIL the kings return. I should have the crap beat out of me for that typo.
Finally success, I heard this forever ago, and I have seriously looked. I probably gone through 100 versions. Its about damn time I found it.

+Lance Doggit One la see t thought, slip in a couple of like big Church type bells or a sick, deep sound or gothic-ish type sounding pipe organ.
Why isn't this game a fucking movie yet
they would cheese it up methinks, although I reckon if it was marvel or dc'ized it would make for a great movie
but would be best in a theme like Deadpool humor
SO, SO GOOD! :D :D

This should have been the theme to duke nukem forever
+Lyle Williams The music was the least of that game's problems...
I love this game
Lyle Williams You must love Call of DLC as well.
+NetMoverSitan If you are poor, don't buy a pc.
Faustin Vaillant I have a pc, the game is a prime example of what happens when you stick it in development hell for a few years, give it to someone else and then they rush it and DON'T get me started on "sequel factories".

This is very much tailored after Megadeth's cover. VERY MUCH.
Scanning The Airwaves this statement is true. also went for the original grabbag version.
Job well done. It's a great cover.
This sounds like a remix of the Megadeth cover with added effects.
oh yeahs
Duke Nukem forever wasn't really all that bad imo, aside from the half hour load screens that is...
Is there a downloadable link for this song? I would really roll around town bumping this.

I played it myself!

I always say that...
Would it be ok if I sampled like 4 seconds of this for my intro? I'm updating my UA-cam channel and this would be perfect! (you would of course be credited if you wanted in the outtro :-)
