I like side-scan. I prefer that over traditional sonar. I run a Garmin 743UHD. It's panopix compatible, that's what I chose this model, but I don't think that's necessary. A decent side scan can give you a lot of information and really help you narrow in on the fish. In my life I have fished at every budget. I worked up to this but I started with $100 finder. Knowing the temperature and depth is important. A basic finder will give you an advantage, an advanced finder will just show you more fish that you are not catching😂
I like the surprise fish! See nothing on the sonar for long periods of time. I use the other parts of the fish pyramid to make educated guess and then ZING fish on. It’s a rush!
