How do I find the equation of the ellipse given only that the the major axis is vertical and the graph passes through the vertex of a parabola?
that is not enough information, you would need to at least know the length of one of the axis or both, or given a point
These are the information: center is at the origin, major axis is vertical, length of major axis is twice the length of the minor axis, graph passes through the vertex of the parabola with equation(y − 1)^2 = 4x − 2

at the end isnt the second part of the equation supposed to be (y-2)^2 ???

I guess (y-1)^2 /1 as y is the minor axis
2a would equal 8 units horizontally
