I'll second Fred's recommendation of OGTechNick's review. Really, Nick's whole channel deserves a strong recommendation. He is a kind man who makes chill and informative content primarily focusing on affordable handhelds, like the K36 and R36S among many others, as well as gaming accessories. If you're a "Deadhead", and who isn't - all the smart people are, then I think you'll find a lot to like over at Nick's channel too. In regards to the K36, I'm not sure that it's better than an R36S; but, Fred's reviews (I watched the Kinhank one first) seem to show that it's a worthy handheld deserving of respect. I do very much like the looks of this unit, especially from the front. I'm not sure how I feel about the grips though. They look find; however, it looks like I'd have my fingertips pretty squished together in that little trough between the two grips. The R36S's flatness makes it pretty easy to maneuver and get the grip I need for various games on various systems. I'm not sure how that would work here. Is the OS stored on internal memory like a smartphone? I feel like I saw that in a review or on Reddit, and as a result it's close to impossible to put custom firmware on this unit. Is that true? And, is that even that bad of a thing? One wouldn't have to worry about flashing a new OS card if the stock memory card went on permanent vacation, which is nice. Finally, to Fred; I'm older today than my Mom was when she had me and I'm not exactly young anymore. That's kind of a sobering thought. For a host of reasons, I don't think I'm going to have that much more time with her. I hope that when her time comes I'll be able to handle it with the grace and dignity that you've demonstrated these past few weeks. It can't possibly be easy to lose a parent, especially one that you're on good terms with. I'm sorry for your loss.
There's at least half a dozen of these that are more or less clones of the rgb20s by powkiddy which came out over 2 years ago. It's one of the best for the price IMHO. 1080p doesn't make sense in a screen that small , unless it has HDMI, but I feel that is what's causing the slowdown. However, if this is all you can afford or just didn't want to spend more money, this srrms woth it.
I recently bought the Gaminja K36 handheld. In one of my games, the R1 button does not do anything, when it is supposed to grab. I see that when I am in the game, and pressing SELECT-X, it brings up the menu. There is a controls section, button I do not know how to update the mapping. Are you able to assist me? Thank you.
its been a minute since i used the k36 but if its bringing up retroarch you should be able to choose the selection called input then set all controls and assign the proper controls
@@RetroGamingWithDeadfred Thanks for your reply! Yes, I can get into the Retroarch menu. But, it still does not do anything. Do you know of any support forums? Thanks again.
Hello Deadfred, my wife recently purchased a K36 handheld for me. When cloning the original SD to a new SD I somehow messed up and now it wont boot. I was curious if you would be able to assist me with correcting this error even if it comes down to reinstalling the OS from scratch.
I have a machine with the same performance. RGB20S, V10, or R36S. It is true that Sega Saturn works, but it's not very good. run a latest cores are too slow. I have no choice but to use standalone cores. The picture quality is terrible, and there is no shander function. However, some games have the advantage of curing image bugs, so For example: NiGHTS into Dreams = FPS will be increased a little bit. Tactical Fighter = text bugs a fixed but super robot wars f = Music and subtitles in any core, Severe latency delay... However, Jagged edges quality again...
If the ergonomics are better than the R36S that would be huge. For me the R36S is just so unconfutable it maybe best in it's price range but it is just not comfortable to hold so I rarely use mine
I would say yes its more comfortable but no vertical imo is as comfortable as horizontal. All things considered at a very similar price I would say the K36 is winning.
I think it interesting when you talk about politics in a lite heatedly way it is a bit into your thoughts in this current climate, but it is a minefield out there, so I get it that why I don't talk politics that mush but my opinion Spill out from time to time and some don't like it because we are really live in one of the most crazy times also Al and Socials are here now so it makes harder to know what is real anymore, if you have not seen wag the dog and network and other films etc., it makes you think,Also my condolences, I feel for you nothing can prepare you for that but maybe god and time.
Hey bro, I just happened to find this video while looking to get my firsthandheld of this nature, I appreciate the video but wonder what’s the best one for me to pick up? Thanks in advance.
If you're going to go for your very first handheld, then I would probably try to get the PowKiddy V10. However this is not a bad choice if this is what you go with
Sega Saturn On A RK3326???

I always thought the R36S was a clone of the RG353VS? Great video as always
Probably more accurate since it has sticks
Great video dude, loved the political anouncement intro😜, Sorry to hear about your mom. Will keep your family in my prayers.
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh thanks for the feedback and taking the time to watch

Here's a tutorial for those who want to recover stock firmware for Kinhank K36.

Guys I need help. I change the theme and it's not find any more the games I can't find the settings. How to unlock the interface settings
i tried changing the theme on the console and now i can't find the games. I press start and it says unlock user interface mode
Did you perhaps put it into kid mode? Google kid mode on the r36
If you could try panel 4 it could work with ArkOS :D
Okay I'll try it and let you know what it does on Discord

@@RetroGamingWithDeadfred thanks for the opinion though m18/ R43 Pro is super comfy but if say in general horizontals are better for that

I bought my r36s for less than 45 after taxes with free shipping
No it’s not better than the R36S
