    It amazes me all the shade Scott gets. Larussa and Dusty Baker speak of Scott as one of the best ever. Joey Votto speaks reverently of him as well. Heck, Mike Schmidt said that Rolen is a “way better fielder than me.” Ok, let’s look at the numbers. Rolen is in the top 3, all time at 3B, in defensive runs saved and average WAR for a 162 game season. Only Scott and Schmidt had over 300 HRs and at least 8 gold gloves. He could rake in the clutch as well. Just ask Clemons. Definitely in the short conversation of best at 3B.

      It’s only because he’s in and Bonds isn’t. We can argue all day about that, but you shouldn’t bring Rolen into the mix.

      @@Gemnist98 On Bonds, McGwire and the rest. It’s way past time for MLB to stop throwing them under the bus. MLB embraced PEDs because baseball was dying. NFL and NCAA players were making MLB players look like high school kids in comparison. MLB needs to own it. Stop throwing the best players of the era under the bus, and move on.

    Rolen's definitely right about how playing other sports can help you get better at baseball. In addition to basketball and tennis, skateboarding really taught me a lot about balance, weight distribution, and timing - and how those things factor into my swing.

    How can i hate on Scott Rolen, as a Brewers fan, I used to watch him in 2002 2003 2004 2005 and 2006 due to highlights and of course postseason, the way he plays ain't no joke showed himself how het got leather especially at the plate.
    He literally gives me goosebumps.

    You know many people criticize Scott Rolen for being a Hall a Famer, you can’t criticize the man to know the position and how to field it efficiently and successfully. This man should be a good coach with some organization right now that desperately needs to improve their defense.

  • @Lawrence_619
    @Lawrence_619 Місяць тому

    people sometimes forget, Rolen is 6'4"...thats a lot of "beef" moving around at a position that requires more range than people think. He was so much fun to watch, because he defied the big, sluggish 3rd base tag. He just refused to be the slow, awkward guy. But without his offense he never makes to Cooperstown. Its fine that he was elite, defensively...but in his prime he really did strike fear in pitchers, before his bat slowed down with age.

      All star appearances don't mean jack. It's so flawed it's not even funny. Bryce Harper was MVP in 2021 & wasn't an all star. Porcello 2016 Cy Young, didn't make the all star team. Beltré '04 led league in homers, 200+ hits, 300+ batting average, finished 2nd MVP, no all star. And many more examples but you get my point, don't base your criteria on all star voting. With that said, I never viewed Rolen as a hall of fame player, I just use other arguments besides all star games.
