I agree this is one of the best songs on 'God Bless the Go-Go's. It should have been a single. Good song!

Yes. This is my personal number one song on God Bless the Go-Go's album which was very underrated. I bet Belinda is responsible for the most of the lyrics of this song. Anyway, they weren't shy while writing this - as they weren't with "Skidmarks on My Heart" on their debut album. Meghan Trainor should listen to this song and she could learn something about good songs instead of writing annoying earworms such as "All About That Bass" which is about curves too but not as good as The Go-Go's song.

Actually, this was written by the primary Go-go's song writers - Charlotte Caffey (who wrote a little over half the music) and Jane Wiedlin (who wrote about 30% of the music). Link: songmeanings.com/songs/wiki/74086/

@@Buc_Stops_Here Not to seem contrary, but on the album, this song is credited to all five members of the band. Either that wiki is wrong or the album is, and I will assume it's not the album that is wrong.

@@TrackerNeil On many of the albums, they give everyone credit on most of the songs. However, even the others admit in interviews that Caffee was added for her songwriting ability early on, and Wiedlin contributed a lot more over time. The others do contribute to some degree, but the primary duties fall to the two of them across their catalogue.

While it is true that Caffey and Wiedlin wrote the lion's share of the Go-Go's music, it is NOT true that all five were given credit for most songs. There are only two Go-Go's songs I know of in which all five band members are credited, and one of those is "Throw Me a Curve." (The other is "Sonic Superslide.")
In fact, one of the pressures that resulted in the 1985 breakup was that the songwriters--Caffey, Wiedlin and Valentine--were making significantly more money than the others, and they refused to evenly split the publishing monies. (Well, Valentine was more open to this than the other two.) So I tend to believe that credits assigned on the album notes are correct, because the Go-Go's were really touchy on that subject.
