Fantastic Video! I literally got back from Iceland last week.. In all honesty I'm not really a Boeing fan, I really like Airbus. The only exception I'll make is for the 757 I've loved it since I was a child. It's like a race car sleek and powerful 👍..
Yeah, the RR are always excellent! To me, it's more rare to fly on a 757 without winglets, but I fly often on American Airlines and US Airways which all have them!
***** Yeah, majority of the US carriers are for the most part are on board the 757's other Boeing aircrafts such as the 737's & even some 767's as well. Because the winglets according to what I've heard reduce drag substantially. Less drag means less fuel burned.
NIce video. Curious 1. Are engines straining and struggling on takeoff or that's just how planes sound? 2. What's a tailwind, and if it's "extra windy conditions" how come planes still take off in it? cheers.
Glad you liked the video! The sounds you are hearing are completely natural! A tailwind takeoff occurs when the wind blows in the same direction as the airplane is moving! During takeoff, normally wind is traveling in the opposite direction of the aircraft movement; this is called a headwind! A headwind allows an aircraft to become airborne more quickly than it would if there were no wind at all! This takeoff is unique because we are are taking off with a tailwind! Aircraft are able to takeoff in windy conditions up to a certain level! I hope I answered your questions!
superseiyan No, the engines aren't struggling - in fact, the 757 has always been an overpowered aircraft i.e. it has an awful lot of power for its weight. Regarding the noise, the sound an engine makes varies from model to model, and those Rolls Royce RB-211 engines fitted to that 757 have a very distinctive sound when the thrust is turned up.
Maxmunchy probably longer since it had a tailwind instead of a headwind and used derated thrust. Still only took 34 seconds from maxing thrust to liftoff.
I don't use an extra microphone at all! I happened to choose an awesome camera! Glad you liked the sound so much! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
How do you know there's a tail wind for takeoff, because it's rather unusual for an aircraft to take off with one, rather they prefer to always take off into the wind...
***** I bet you're a pretty frequent biz traveler to get to fly so much, aren't cha? Wish I traveled for work sometimes, because working as a travel agent from home tends to get lonely sometimes. Not to mention my wife and I would go nuts if we had to deal with each other and every day of the week. Love each other ta death, but we drive each other nuts sometimes.
Man, those 757 endings are amazing. Awesome video
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Great engine with great view of Iceland, such an incredible view....
It's quite a unique landscape! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nothing grunts get out of my way like an RB211.
That icelandic translation is hilarious
wonderful footage of this take off and of the beautifuil country! rob
Yes, Iceland is amazing! Thanks for the comment!
Brilliant takeoff! Again the sound is incredible! :D
Yeah, the Rolls Royce RB-211 engines are timeless!

Really nice video! Well done!!
Glad you liked it so much! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Great sound on takeoff. Icelandair does fly to Seattle. I havent fly B757 with winglets yet. Winglets are rare

Yeah, you're right!
What indicates that there is an incredible tail wind ? How would the plane be affected ?
I remember seeing the windsock before we took off! The 757 is powerful enough that a light tailwind shouldn't affect it!
the clouds are like candy.
Beautiful :))
Yeah, it's very unique and beautiful in Iceland!
fantastic! :)
Much appreciated!
80% thrust?
You got lucky with the airplane shadows on this trip didn't you? :)
Yeah, there were several great airplane shadows that I filmed recently! Always a cool effect!

***** Excellent answers... but why all the exclamation marks??!!!

that's a very long takeoff was the plane full?
Mostly full, but not completely full!
Maxmunchy probably longer since it had a tailwind instead of a headwind and used derated thrust. Still only took 34 seconds from maxing thrust to liftoff.
Five star video
Thanks! Iceland is phenomenal!
OMG those engines! I love your videos mate! Do you know what manufacterer the engines are from? RR? GE? P&W?
These are Rolls Royce RB-211! Glad you like the videos! Thanks for the comment!
***** By far one of the best engine grind noises ever! And I truly mean that. Music to my ears!
Great Sound!!
Do u have an extra microphone? The sound is very "clear" :) (Don't know how to describe :D)
I don't use an extra microphone at all! I happened to choose an awesome camera! Glad you liked the sound so much! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Well, I came.
please come to ireland and fly ryanair
I have been to Ireland and taken videos there! You can see them on my channel! Maybe one day I'll fly Ryanair!
Sure iv seen your videos of ireland great as the rest of your videos

I agree, it is not normal! I noticed a windsock on the airfield! Not sure why they had us take off in that direction!
because the 757 is a beast and turn would've wasted fuel :)

Haha, makes me wonder if I should ever get married?!? Perhaps you and your wife should take a vacation somewhere!
i don't see any wind
