Us Gen Xers are in the very end times of still being able to see our rock heroes alive and performing. Def Leppard, Queensryche (or at least Geoff), Poison, Metallica, etc....soon these days will be a memory.

Glad to see the flame still burning 40 years after that monumental first EP

he hasn't been a part of Ryche or Tate's bands for over 25 years now.. he's done w/ it all.

At this point LaTorre and Tate's voices are equally unsuited to properly pull off these songs. LaTorre after a decade or so of longer touring ( at least in Europe ) has lost top end and power and Tate on a likely much lighter schedule has regained a nominal fraction, but hits a wall that he just can't scale anymore. This type of metal singing like it or not is a young man's game.

While I agree it's best suited to young men, Geoff still has the pipes to pull this off. This isn't extremely well-mixed audio, it's recorded with a phone.

Are you really expecting an almost 70yo to sing perfectly a song like Take Hold of the Flame? He's doing a great job!

@@justarandomguy2126 No not at all. These older singers need to know when to step aside tho. In rare occasions,Glenn Hughes and Paul Rodgers,an older hard rock singer can still belt them out. But for the most part no. Its like going to half a show. The musicians can still cut it,actually some even better than before, but the singers ruin the vibe by not knowing when to hang it up. Ego driven mostly. Just facts my friend. I maintain heavy rock, singing in particular,is a young mans game.

Tate has a MUCH heavier touring schedule than QR:
2022 Geoff Tate's # of shows 98 - he had open heart surgery that year so got a late start. Queensryche's # of shows 74
      2023 Geoff Tate's # of shows 130 Queensryche's # of shows 51
      2024 (so far) Geoff Tate # of shows 57 Queensryche's # of shows 46
And I'm not counting all the dates Tate has played with Avantasia or his private shows he puts on for Backstage Pass Travel

Take Hold of the Flame was the first song I ever heard from Queensryche when they were opening for Kiss when The Warning was released. Geoff was about 25 years old when that album was released. Of course he can’t hit the notes at 65 that he could at 25, but he is still a very capable vocalist and very much on top of his game. Compare his live performances to that of a Vince Neil, who always sucked live, or a Stephen Pearcy.
