I’m not upset about what the Dodgers are doing but let’s not act like all 30 teams can attract free agents like LA. My Guardians sure as hell aren’t in the running for any big time free agents to come to Cleveland.
I don't mind LAD signs Snell. But what is bad for baseball is a team that can sign everybody they want. Luxury tax isn't helping to curb these teams. We need to have more equity.
The problem is they have upwards of 950m in deferred payments. The rest of the league combined is under or around 300m. There needs to be a limit to the amount of players a team is allowed to have a deferred contract
Guardians in 2023 made 315 million in revenue and there payroll was 88 million come on talke about teams don't have the money the dodgers do that's what's bad for baseball

Thinkin Shohei, Mookie, Freeman is probably the best top of the lineup in baseball history. Some great duos in history, but so rare to get three in their prime. Yankees compare if Soto stays, but need Stanton from 2017.
Dodgers literally only had 3 starters available in the post season due to all the injuries. Them signing one of the top Pitchers available was a given. Bringing Buehler back as well and signing Sasaki
There is no parity to a decade straight of playoffs with 2 World Series victories and a setup to now dominate the World Series for at least the next 5 years
I think the objective take here is that there’s nothing wrong with the Dodgers specifically for taking advantage of a broke system. Something needs to happen to make teams spend closer to the same amount of money because it is just a bit ridiculous at this point when the Dodgers have THAT rotation all getting paid and you still have the Triple A’s. I do think it’s important to mention that regardless if it was the Dodgers, Yanks, Red Sox or whoever else it’s an issue regardless
Snell is one if the rare players that is a straight up mercenary (he has admitted this) and is also a great teammate. Usually guys like that are awful in the clubhouse
correction Rosey, all 30 teams have the money, the Dodgers are the only ones choosing to spend theirs like this, as you kinda said a minute later as im typing lol
I get what Plouffe is saying about the Rays, Guardians, and Brewers but the common denominator of those teams is that they haven’t won a World Series( and only the guardians really got close in 2016). I too am a pirates fan and the fact that only about 6 teams can realistically fantasize about the top FAs while my fan base is wondering if we can nickel and dime our way to Tyler O’Neill, to me is a flaw in the game I love most
This isn't actually true. The NFL has the most parity. The reason certain teams dominate is down to how they are run and play more than anything financial.
@@Mictlantecuhtli_83Teams in the NFL are good from good coaching and people making the right roster moves, while the bad teams are bad from incompetence from the GM’s and owner. Teams that are good in MLB usually comes down to whoever spends the most money, while the bad teams are usually the ones that don’t spend much. Now that’s not the case for every team, since there are a few surprises every year, but that’s usually the norm. Clear distinction.
You do realize the last national league team to go back to back World Series titles was the Reds back in the late 70s right? Even with a stacked roster, it’s still difficult but not impossible. The last team to do it, was the Yankees from 1998-2000 and no team has done it since. The reality is just because your team is stacked, doesn’t guarantee a championship every year. I’m not downplaying yall winning the World Series. I’m just being realistic.
The team that is hurt the most by this is the Giants, they signed Snell - payed the extra draft pick - got half a year of production, didn't trade him at the deadline, and failed to make a competitive offer - just absolutely lighting assets on fire for a ~500 team.
The financial situation is out of whack in baseball because you got owners who only keep payrolls of $40-50 million dollars. How do you expect your team to compete when the owners self impose a shoe string budget because they’re cheap? Salary cap won’t stop the vast majority owners being cheap, want owners to spend, install a salary floor.
I’ve never seen a player quite implode like that who wasn’t injured…or was he? Really don’t know it’s a total mystery with that guy but not counting on him going forward

Not all businesses make the same amount of money and it’s strictly based on their business decisions. Dodgers are just good at doing business and it shows!
When the Diamondbacks made it to the WS last year, everyone commented how that's the great thing about baseball. Any team can get there. Same when the Rays got there in 2020. Dodgers sign some players and now everyone is seeing doom for their teams. I'm a Dodgers fan, but I know it's still the same game and no team has repeated a championship in 25 seasons.
I think a lot of the immediate "this is bad for baseball" people are likely still reeling from the WS and then the first big free agent signs and of course its the dodgers and all those things kinda compound. Are they a super team? Sure. Is this good for baseball? It absolutely is, wether or not you think so is up to you. I would be open to having a salary floor/ceiling but until then I will continue to ask, why don't other teams do it? Every team is owned by a billionaire(s) that could easily spend loads of money on a whim. So why don't they?
You realize that the rest of the country already despises LA for the shithole it is, but now you have to destroy the national past time? Tool made an anthem about SoCal. It’s called AEnima.
Everyone else: The Dodgers finally won a legit WS since 1988. Dodgers: Okay… Everyone else: The Dodgers buying championships. Dodgers: Remind us again exactly how many championships we bought since 1988. And that’s a problem for you?
I think the issue about the competitive balance, while I agree w Plouffe's assessment of the Pirates specifically, these smaller market team HAVE to have lightning in a bottle. So many picks need to pan out, every signing they make pretty much has to work out. And this....just to have a chance at competing with teams with money to burn.
First Happy Thanksgiving to all the great Baseball Fans out there that follow this great show and to Chris and Plouffe and to JBM. Not a Dodgers fan but I believe this can be good for baseball. Super teams come and go. Not the first time for baseball. The players will age and perhaps the contracts will handcuff the team. But the Dodgers have a big brand. So good for baseball. TY all.
Whats funny is. Before he signed with the Giants last year. He was looking for a longterm deal and no one wanted to offer him the contract. Even the 182 mill right now. Teams didn’t wanna give it to him but all of a sudden Dodgers said ok we’ll give u a long contract. Everyone is up and arms about it. There were plenty of times other Teams could have signed him but they didn’t...Also, Deffered Payment is not exclusive to Dodgers. All MLB teams can do the same,. Actaully deffered payment has been happening for more than 30 yrs. that's why there was a Bobby Bonilla contract.

Yankees, Mets, Astros and Phillies all had higher payrolls last year. Seems like people get mad because the Dodgers spend their money better than most teams. Although, I will say there probably were not many teams that wanted to give Snell 5 years. That might be the reason he went to the Dodgers.
to everyone who is mad about what the Dodgers are doing "YOUR TEAM CAN DO IT TOO"
I’m not upset about what the Dodgers are doing but let’s not act like all 30 teams can attract free agents like LA. My Guardians sure as hell aren’t in the running for any big time free agents to come to Cleveland.
Dodgers been laughing stock of mlb the past decade and labeled as Choketober, glad they’re pissing on everyone else for a change.
@@am3lagrimas410 fuck the dodgers
The Mets tried and they got handed a tax.
@@jstizzy7 How is it the dodgers fault the players themselves want to play in LA and not in the middle of nowhere?
I don't mind LAD signs Snell. But what is bad for baseball is a team that can sign everybody they want. Luxury tax isn't helping to curb these teams. We need to have more equity.
yeah there needs to be a minimum salary floor across the MLB.
I loved the Thanksgiving segment. Trevor is a criminal for saying stuffing is overrated!!!
I wanted Blake Snell badly to be a Dodger last season but it did not happen..now me very happy!!💯😝😙💙
If you can’t BEAT L.A.
join them 👀
Let’s go back to back
Dodgers are about to 5 peat Trevor is hilarious for playing this down
The problem is they have upwards of 950m in deferred payments. The rest of the league combined is under or around 300m. There needs to be a limit to the amount of players a team is allowed to have a deferred contract
Play Union and Owners wanted unlimited. Never going to happen.
Yo, I think it's really cool that you guys found a question online from a fan and answered it on the show.
We dont want any former Astros on our Dodgers squad.
Guardians in 2023 made 315 million in revenue and there payroll was 88 million come on talke about teams don't have the money the dodgers do that's what's bad for baseball
Larry dolan is literally a top 5 wealthiest owner in all of baseball stop it lmao if he really cared about the team he’d break out the checkbook plain and simple
The dodgers made over 750 million in revenue. Yes it is
@@Michael-tj5bk Dodgers had 549 million of revenue in '23. I don't know where you're pulling that 750 figure from. The point is the Guardians, the Rays, the O's et al. All of them could easily, easily spend more money on their payroll and still be incredibly profitable. The only thing that is bad for baseball is greedy, greedy billionaire owners.
@IPANoah it was on foul territory. Get a clue
@@Michael-tj5bk You clearly misheard. The 549 figure is reported by Forbes and other outlets. But please lamely tell me to get a clue about something that is super, super easy to google and prove yourself wrong about. Anyways the Dodger's team revenue doesn't have anything to do with Dolan not signing FAs at market rate.
22:30 literally got a question about "why should I bother watching anymore" goes on to talk about how its great and people want to watch underdogs lol
Awesome stuff guys, always appreciate the grind you two put in. Even when you don’t have to 👍🏻
Its my first thanksgiving by myself thank you Chris Rose -Twins/AL central fan
There needs to be penalties on owners for being stingy and weak. Manfred and the owners have ruined baseball not the dodgers
Trevor need to be jailed again for the Bregman to The Dodgers comment
There is no parity to a decade straight of playoffs with 2 World Series victories and a setup to now dominate the World Series for at least the next 5 years
Thanks for the upload fellas. Happy Thanksgiving.
What? Bad for baseball? Dodgers, Dodgers nation and Japan are saving baseball. Stop it.
Of course Trevor has an L take on stuffing as a #1 Thanksgiving dish...and the mac n cheese...Thanksgiving mac n cheese rules
I've been a dodgers fan for decades. I am embracing the "Villain" role, after 2017 and 2020, the rest of the league can suck it
Just like you can suck it paying for parking and getting in and out of that nightmare of a parking lot
i think the blue and red mics in the video for soto means LA or Philly im just not sure which.. definitely means something bro
The red is for the angels actually
correction Rosey, all 30 teams have the money, the Dodgers are the only ones choosing to spend theirs like this, as you kinda said a minute later as im typing lol
I get what Plouffe is saying about the Rays, Guardians, and Brewers but the common denominator of those teams is that they haven’t won a World Series( and only the guardians really got close in 2016). I too am a pirates fan and the fact that only about 6 teams can realistically fantasize about the top FAs while my fan base is wondering if we can nickel and dime our way to Tyler O’Neill, to me is a flaw in the game I love most
I Love this show. 👏👏👏 Thanks guys.
Answer for Stephen Bruno: the competitive balance isn’t out of whack at all. In fact, MLB has greater parity than the NFL, NBA, or NHL.
This isn't actually true. The NFL has the most parity. The reason certain teams dominate is down to how they are run and play more than anything financial.
@@zaneplatt3533really? Last ten years eight teams have been champions in the MLB, during that span only six NFL teams won.
Los Angeles Rays (Snell, Glasnow) 😂
Just had Kiermaier too, but now he's retired.
Andrew Friedman.
wait till we sign Adames!
@@marceloloayza4273fuck no I dont want him
People also forget Evan Phillips was also a ray
I’m with you, Trev! Not that into stuffing, but it’s my husband’s favorite, so I’m making it
Before I even watch I know Plouffe is gonna be like "NO, ONE TEAM HAVING ALL THE STARS IS GREAT FOR BASEBALL!!!!"
This is only bad for the rest of the league, good for us! We want to go back to back to back🎉
You do realize the last national league team to go back to back World Series titles was the Reds back in the late 70s right? Even with a stacked roster, it’s still difficult but not impossible. The last team to do it, was the Yankees from 1998-2000 and no team has done it since. The reality is just because your team is stacked, doesn’t guarantee a championship every year. I’m not downplaying yall winning the World Series. I’m just being realistic.
I’m making a pledge, if the Dodgers sign Soto i’ll stop watching baseball
Loving the food debate at the end
Signs with the dodgers AND is friends with Trevor?? Surprised he isn’t automatically considered the best pitcher in baseball with those credentials 😂
18:58 Well put Rose, as a Rays fan, it's a good kick in the nuts with ownership and it does build character as a sports fan. Rays Up!
Way too soon to give up on Bobby Miller.
He's gotta adjust his BRAIN - the pitches are good.
Its definitely an enigma, but theres gotta be something huge thats wrong. -2 war is one of the worst in baseball
@@dannydevito7755he has the tools it’s all mental with him

I’ve never seen a player quite implode like that who wasn’t injured…or was he? Really don’t know it’s a total mystery with that guy but not counting on him going forward
The Dodgers have these things going for them
Obviously, the money
The brand (historic franchise)
The location/environment- weather, Hollywood
Lifelong Blue here. Never have I wanted a pitcher more than Snell since Tampa! Dude is an ASSASSIN!!! Let him FEED in LA and he’ll get hid 3RD CY!!!
🤘🤘🤘🥳
I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD COME THROUGH
28:48 Robinson Cano
Long story short
=> The Dodgers will dominate and build a DYNASTY 🎉🎉❤❤
Just because Dodgers got Snell doesn't mean they're not going after Sasaki lol. Sasaki will be on a minor league contract. Dodgers will go after him no matter what.
He seems to have a little bro mentality, so I think he'll stick with big bro Ohtani.
@@twig4590 Maybe who knows. But you don't come early and lose out on all that money to go to a team that's not good. You might as well wait and make big money in the process.
I would love for him to go the Dodgers, but he has to pick a team where they're good while he's there for the 6 years. Dodgers, Padres, any good team.
All other 29 billionaire owners can do what the Dodgers are doing too.
Well said
you dont have a clue. its about revenue. The TV deals are totally out of balance
Because people overestimate what being a billionaire means when it comes to these major sports teams.
You think Steve Cohen wouldn't sign Blake Snell for More? The league is rigged

humans are crazy. absolutely agree on pumpkin pie being the best, could not despise cheesecake any more than i already do lol
Everyone else: The Dodgers finally won a legit WS since 1988.
Dodgers: Okay…
Everyone else: The Dodgers buying championships.
You get what you pay for. It’s absolutely true with most things in life. I don’t know how anyone can be a fan of a team that won’t spend right up to the luxury tax limit. If you aren’t, then you aren’t trying. Love the move. Back to back in the house baby. Sign Teo please!

It seems it means they arent signing soto more than not going after roki. Seems like it was sign soto to 600mil or a free agent pitcher with roki and teoscar resign.
Trevor said it, the dodgers are just one of the best when it comes to drafting, development, trades, and scouting. Tommy Edman and Kopech, any team could have gotten those guys.
And the Dodgers know you have to spend/invest money smartly as well.
