- This camp was the perfect location to divide my 2-day Uwharrie trail hike in half. The campsite is just south of Highway 109 next to “Watery Branch,” directly on the trail. I'm really tempted to go back again this weekend. That was my first solo overnighter years ago and I havent gone solo since, this is a great place to solo.

Looks like a great place to camp! Totally agree about the chair being worth it's weight in gold! I like peak meals as well! Have you tried Trailtopia? I think that they are a better cost option and they taste great!Now following #623!

I was looking at the Peak meals for an upcoming camp. They were a little more expensive but did the quality and quantity make them worth it?
The chicken/rice/mushrooms were excellent. Beef stroganoff had great flavor but beef didn’t rehydrate well. Granola/strawberries were good but probably not quite worth the money. 10/10 on flavor for sure.
Would list the trail circuit you hiked please? I have the Don Childrey book of the Uwharrie Trail guide.

Hey! I'm looking for a place in NC where I can go primitive camping "away from people" and able to make a fire and such, any suggestions?

In my opinion, finding the spot shouldn’t be too difficult… it’s the “away from people” thing that can be tough. I find that if you wait until it gets cold, then you’ll have the place all to yourself. Most people are fair-weather campers and if you are willing to go when conditions aren’t perfect then isolation is easy. Good luck!
