    Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the seventh most populous city in the world, with a vibrant mix of cultures, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Here are some key aspects of Mumbai:
    Location and Geography:
    Mumbai is located on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbor.
    It consists of seven islands that were merged in the 18th century through land reclamation projects.
    Economy:
    Mumbai is the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India. It houses the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
    The city is home to the Bollywood film industry, one of the largest film industries in the world.
    Culture and Entertainment:
    Bollywood, the Hindi film industry, is a major part of Mumbai's identity. The city has numerous theaters, studios, and production houses.
    Mumbai is known for its vibrant nightlife, with a plethora of bars, clubs, and restaurants.
    Landmarks:
    The Gateway of India, an iconic monument built during the British Raj, is a popular tourist attraction.
    Marine Drive, a picturesque promenade along the Arabian Sea, is famous for its 'Queen's Necklace' of street lights.
    Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic railway station.
    Diverse Population:
    Mumbai is a melting pot of cultures and languages. People from various parts of India and the world have made the city their home.
    The city celebrates various festivals with enthusiasm, including Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, and Eid.
    Transportation:
    Mumbai has a well-developed transportation system, including suburban trains, buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws.
    The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is one of the busiest airports in India.
    Challenges:
    The city faces challenges such as traffic congestion, overpopulation, and issues related to infrastructure development.
    Flooding during the monsoon season is a recurring problem in certain low-lying areas.
    Historical Significance:
    Mumbai has a rich history, with influences from the Marathas, Portuguese, and British colonial periods.
    Mumbai's dynamic and fast-paced lifestyle, coupled with its historical and cultural richness, makes it a city of contrasts and a significant center for commerce, entertainment, and cultural diversity in India.

    The worst thing we do is yellow-black, white black dividers all across everything.. There is simply no need.. In china, they use these strips on dividers where there is alert, or toll naka.. They also use better signs on roads.. Mumbai needs massive upgrade to even reach a level of kuala lumpur.. I think the amount of dust in our roads, sidewalks is incredible.. I have seen dust in other megacities on youtube..

      @bidyutmanna3900 8 місяців тому

      Also you are right, India only has 2.6k nominal per capita and 9k PPP per capita which is very less compared to both China and Malaysia... So how could you expect a city from India can look like them??
      Everyone knows Mumbai and other Indian cities needs a heavy up gradation.

    Why there is no lane marking on Mumbai roads?

    • @romibajwa7153
      @romibajwa7153 5 місяців тому

      1. Lane Dividers will require the use of lanes and signaling instead of horns.
      2. Lane Dividers will require enforcement and hiring of Traffic Police in every major city.
      3. Lane Dividers will require Citations, Traffic Courts and New Regulations.
      4. Lane Dividers will require new Driving Habits.
      5. Lane Dividers will require Reclaiming and Widening of major city roads.
      For that reason there are no Lane Dividers in India.

Markets for Dharavi's goods include stores in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The total (and largely informal economy) turnover is estimated to be between US$500 million, and US$650 million per year, to over US$1 billion per year. The per capita income of the residents, depending on estimated population range of 300,000 to about 1 million, ranges between US$500 and US$2,000 per year.
