  • Morning drive in historic South Mumbai. The richest neighborhoods in the country are here, which command among the highest property rates in the world. Real estate prices in South Mumbai are comparable to those in Manhattan. This is the primary tourist area of Mumbai and home to most of city’s museums, art galleries, bars, upscale restaurants and the Gateway of India.
    Starting Point: goo.gl/maps/Y4... .
Mumbai (formerly called Bombay) is a densely populated city on India’s west coast. A financial center, it's India's largest city. On the Mumbai Harbour waterfront stands the iconic Gateway of India stone arch, built by the British Raj in 1924. Offshore, nearby Elephanta Island holds ancient cave temples dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. The city's also famous as the heart of the Bollywood film industry. ― Google
Mumbai is the financial, commercial, and the entertainment capital of India. It is also one of the world's top ten centres of commerce in terms of global financial flow, generating 6.16% of India's GDP, and accounting for 25% of industrial output, 70% of maritime trade in India (Mumbai Port Trust and JNPT), and 70% of capital transactions to India's economy. Mumbai has the eighth-highest number of billionaires of any city in the world, and Mumbai's billionaires had the highest average wealth of any city in the world in 2008. The city houses important financial institutions and the corporate headquarters of numerous Indian companies and multinational corporations. It is also home to some of India's premier scientific and nuclear institutes. The city is also home to Bollywood and Marathi cinema industries. Mumbai's business opportunities attract migrants from all over India.
Mumbai (also known as Bombay, the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. According to the United Nations, as of 2018, Mumbai is the second-most populous city in India after Delhi and the eighth-most populous city in the world with a population of roughly 2 crore (20 million). As per the Indian government population census of 2011, Mumbai was the most populous city in India with an estimated city proper population of 1.25 crore (12.5 million) living under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Mumbai is the centre of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the sixth most populous metropolitan area in the world with a population of over 2.3 crore (23 million). Mumbai lies on the Konkan coast on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour. In 2008, Mumbai was named an alpha world city. It has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires among all cities in India. Mumbai is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings designed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The seven islands that constitute Mumbai were earlier home to communities of Marathi language speaking Koli people. For centuries, the seven islands of Bombay were under the control of successive indigenous rulers before being ceded to the Portuguese Empire, and subsequently to the East India Company in 1661, through the dowry of Catherine Braganza when she was married off to Charles II of England. During the mid-18th century, Bombay was reshaped by the Hornby Vellard project, which undertook reclamation of the area between the seven islands from the sea. Along with construction of major roads and railways, the reclamation project, completed in 1845, transformed Bombay into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea. Bombay in the 19th century was characterised by economic and educational development. During the early 20th century it became a strong base for the Indian independence movement. Upon India's independence in 1947 the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as the capital.

I said Mumbai is messy... And I want to take it back! MUMBAI IS BEAUTIFUL! Some places reminds me of Barcelona and São Paulo, my hometown... I figured out I love Mumbai and I dream someday I will be having those delicious spicy dishes in India looking at this beautiful Metropolis. Indians be proud of yourself. Mumbai is awesome... And I am sure it will be much better in the future since many new building and subway stations are coming in our way. Love you all! BRICS FOREVER! Chill bro, the whole western media stereotypes us, but lots of slums are treated every year, and also look at the previous Mumbai vids in Utah's channel, lots of skyscrapers(probably 2nd or 3rd most in construction in the world), lots of roads constructions, metros as well, in 3-4 years, welcome to a world class city

Love your appreciation, but Mumbai is extremely messy from an objective perspective. Things may improve once the construction clears, but it still won't match the level of first world countries until Indians learn to follow traffic rules, not litter, not jaywalk, etc. People do not abide by rules in India and nothing will change until they change their mindset from doing whatever the hell they want to being organised and respectful towards the law. The government should invest heavily in education to make this happen, but unfortunately corruption deters progress.
Note: I'm saying this as an Indian myself.

one remarkable thing why buildings in indian cities are so old. I know every city has old buildings like that, but i rarely see the new ones in indian videos. It reminds me of cairo a lot. Indian need to try more to make their cities more organized, especially enviromental pollution issues

Search for video of driving in BKC or Powai, Navi Mumbai to know more about Mumbai. There is a channel called keep on driving 🚗 or of Anujn. Please watch these. Also watch videos of cities like Gurgaon, Surat, Noida, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Goa, Pune, Jaipur etc. You can not judge entire country of 1.4 billion people and hundreds of new and old cities with just few minutes of driving scene. 🙄

Mumbai is always going to beat Delhi

    • @dr.python
      @dr.python 2 роки тому +2

      Yee bois
keep it civil, attack arguments with logic, not hatred
      reasons:
      - Air Quality is better (today Mumbai AQI 136, Delhi 309)
      - overall lower average yearly mean temperature
      - higher densities of amenities like restaurant, hospital, schools, public transport (stops/station), bars
      - entire city of MUMBAI is walkable even without using taxi, Delhi encourages driving and discourages walking
      - More Billionaires choose Mumbai
      - late but still great Mumbai metro to feature more advanced technologies simply because is more recent, Shinkansen and Coastal Road Projects coming soon.
      - Mumbai overall more wealthier and higher GDP
      - Mumbai has a national park smack dab in the middle of the city, which is also the 7th largest urban park in the world, and largest in a megacity (population 10M+)
      - (SUBBJECTIVE) For those who like rain Mumbai receives 3x more rainfall than Delhi, along with more cloudy weather associated with it
      - My hostel is 22 storeys high, only in Mumbai can that happen
      - Higher police presence in Mumbai on the ground ensures civil and orderly conduct throughout the city
these above are 10 points, to argue you can either refute the claims with proof or just provide better points in support of Delhi
