Heart patient Tiernee Gonzalez, 20, a childhood cancer survivor, has had heart problems ever since she went through chemo as a child. She had her first heart transplant at 12 and now lives with an artificial heart while she waits for another heart transplant. She carries her heart in a backpack. But she never goes anywhere alone. Friends, such as Child Life Specialists who work with her through the Josh Cares program at Cincinnati Children's, are always there to lend support.
Update: This story was recorded while Tiernee Gonzalez was waiting for a heart transplant. She has had the transplant and is doing well.
