Interesting. In withington s.Manchester, there was a triangle shape park , called Withington Green, It’s swallowed up now by the massive ‘Christy Hospital complex. A hideous carbuncle on the landscape,as Charles would say. The old snap there of the Victorian scene is beautiful, and the magnificent viaduct in the background is no detriment. What a severe change for the worse.
Buxton still held championship level tennis in 1950 , my late father took the players to their next destination including the ladies world champion Mo Connely at the time .
Your an absolute hero to me iam full of admiration for what you do you deserve to be recognised for what you do keeping our lovely country litter free you are what is best about this country 😊
I was born in Buxton, I remember the only time I ever saw a kingfisher was in Ashwood Dale,. My lovely Dad took me there one spring morning to show me it, a flash of turquoise and orange, I am 73 now and have never seen another one.
Everything destroyed by 'progress'. Now parks are a low priority and grass verges and shrubberies left uncut and overgrown. Or they are round here. It especially saddens me because I worked for the parks department and see almost everything I tended is being left unattended. They blame a lack of money but how much is wasted on other things? About 16 years ago the council installed a beautiful dancing fountain of 22 fountains, it worked for six times in as many weeks. Last year it was looked at and got going for about two weeks but never as good as the original. It no longer works again. I won't mention money wasted on housing and feeding dinghy people. Oops, I just did.
@@Leock Sadly that is "multiculturalism", too many people who come from third world countries who have no interest in our culture or society. We are too over crowded, litter is abundant in our towns and cities, everything is being destroyed. I am saddened by all this.

They’re beautiful birds I’ve been very fortunate driving the train in the Pavilion to see one a few times now but never for very long.
Very interesting and well thought out, shame more people don’t look after the areas they live in 😊
Thank you! It’s certainly a shame seeing the two parks in the state they’re in today
I didn’t mention in the video but the Midland became the Ashwood Hotel before changing back to the Wye Bridge when Wetherspoons took over.
Correct, I lived right next door in the big house on the other side of the bridge, had some good times in the Ashwood Park Hotel pub in the 80 s.
Hedge.

It is a shame how the world has changed like this, I certainly long for the days when we cared about our surroundings.
