A league is about 3.4 miles, or 5.5 kilometers. 10,000 Leagues is 55,000 kilometers. The Earth is less than 13 thousand kilometers is diameter. This monster is from so deep in the ocean it was in high orbit on the other side of the planet.

Quaker cereal Comic character Quake tunneled so far underground he ended up on another planet in a story so guess there is supposed to be some kind of space warp down there.
Maybe they measured distance of bowling league's alley.

The picture was such good quality. I never remember B movies being this clear when I would have watched in the 70s. Our TVs must have sucked.
I'm confused what was the point of the sea monster? was made by that doctor and the light was keeping it alive?
I don't like to be interrupted with, or by, unnecessary chit chat, when I want to be paying attention to a movie, or anything else that I am interested in. It can wait until later after the movie is finished.

Yup these and we were close to border so Spanish channels with Santo vs mummies and vampire women there was a whole series anhh puberty n women in cheap movies

The creature in this film is pretty much the same one in a movie done several years later called Horror at Party Beach. In that film, it several of them.

LOL. you get what you paid for in the first 3 mins ! A rubber monster scaring a fisherman to death .... followed up by a man wearing a suit and tie on the beach who describes himself as a beachcomber ... first lines .. The body is covered with burns, the boat is chard too, but there's no sign of a fire !!!!! Great stuff

Unless you've got an anchor for that very small boat to keep it steady, it is going to be swept away by the current and waves, and you
are not going to be able to catch up with it.
I find it interesting that they're on the Pacific coast and not wearing wetsuits that water is quite cold
Bad breaks in life for Cathy Downs. Booted out of big studios at age 21, divorced and alone at 37, out of acting at age 40 and unemployed thereafter, and dead of cancer at age 50.
A sad end to one's film career & personal life.

I like the creature in this movie . It's cross between a saber toothed tiger and a dinosaur . It's a saber tooth asaurus 😄
It’s actually played by Norma Hansen, one of the two only woman to play a monster in film back then, the other being Phyllis Gordon in The Werewolf from 1915

Well the monster does strike right away, you don't have to wait. But you do have a good looking woman, people who think they are intelligent and a monster that looks like baby Godzilla's dorky twin brother. Not bad. Worth watching one time for sure.

One of my all-time favorite sci-fi films .... the actor Rodney Bell that plays the top cop here passed away in 1968 at the age of 52 years young , I couldn't find the cause of death though , does anyone on here know ? I would appreciate it 🤗

The rowboat in the scenes @17:00, @45:00, @72:00 and @1:17:00 is the same boat used by the fisherman in the opening scene. I'm beginning to think the creature had a problem with *that* boat. Either that--or the producers of the film were working within an extremely limited budget.

Poor Cathy Downs. She acted in some classic pictures which included Gunfight At The OK Coral directed by John Ford. Sad to actors willing to do these types of movies. Nice clean copy though.

There was a commercial for dogfood. The dog in that commercial was much more frightening than the monster in the movie. And the dog was a living creature!

Nice quality in video. But movie...beginning wasn't as much scary, but silly. Fisherman who apparently doesn't know how to cast or deploy a net...and a monster who can't drown anyone.
Then on beach, 'stiff from burns', he never said radiation burns? Boat wasn't burned either. Geeze, anyone actually reading the script or noticing the props?

Since a league is about 3 miles, 'The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues' would have to come from the Mariana Trench, since no other trench comes close to that depth. They could'a called this "The monster from Mariana"? (doesn't have quite the same impact, eh?)
