- Killers from Space is a 1954 American black and white science fiction feature film, produced and directed by W. Lee Wilder(brother of Billy Wilder) from an original, commissioned screenplay by his son Myles Wilder and their regular collaborator William Raynor, and starring Peter Graves and Barbara Bestar. Lee Wilder's independent production company, Planet Filmplays Inc., usually producing on a financing-for-distribution basis for United Artists, made this film for RKO Radio Pictures distribution.W. As someone on IMDB said "were the filmmakers intentionally competing to see who could come up with the most ridiculous looking aliens? When it comes to getting laughs, the bug-eyed beetle-browed killers from space are second only to Corman's conquering turnip. But it's a close second, and they get a good deal more speaking lines and screen time. Modern film makers actually trying to make their monsters amusing have never been able to create aliens as hilarious as this."
Late night with the lights off and a warm drink recommended/
Peter Graves....was in everything in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's eh...what a talent!!!!
Or never learned to save a dime his entire career...🤔?
Peter Graves,...WAY BACK WHEN!!!
50s scifi at its best. There was nothing better than watching these as a kid Friday and Saturday nights as a kid especially on Chiller Theatre
The "Ping Pong Ball" eyes have been embedded in my memory since I was 7 years old.
Reminded me of Buzz Lightyear.
Also, the Outer LImits (TOS) episode, "Mutant," had this, but with much better effects.
Ah the good old days, when men smoked smokeless pipes, guards opened doors to check a room was empty and never looked behind the door, people came home with mysterious scars from surgery they couldn't explain, and fighter jets flew EMP waves...............................LOL. Love these old sci-fi films..............................
I LOVE the youtube postings of these cornball sci-fi movies from the 1950s-1960s when I was a little boy. They were interesting to me as a young boy back then.
Cigarette machines in a hospital, good ol' days.
😂😂😂
Yeah they were
I love sci-fi! Especially from the golden age. Forbidden Planet, Island of Terror, Village of the Damned, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Quatermass and the Pit, Silent Running, Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, Fire Maidens of Outer Space, The Gamma People, et. al. GREAT STUFF!
I grew up with that stuff in the 60s. I'm in my 60s now!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT SCORE these are thee Absolute Best l love it ty
Don't forget The Thing From Another World, The Day The Earth Stood Still and This Island Earth!
And Earth Versus The Flying Saucers!
you have very good taste in movies
The old stock footage of those good old F-86 Sabers are legend
Oh, oh, oh, sweet Peter Graves. He is the reason the word "sensual" is part of the English language.
Peter has aged like fine wine. Exquisite.
Love the cigarette machine in the hospital hallway
I used to do business with several hospitals in Richmond VA. As late as the mid 90's, they still permitted smoking. Of course, the major industry in Richmond is...
Oh no you didn't? LOL oh yes back in the day my uncle was a veteran he was in the hospital talking to the doctor. The conversation went like this mr. Olson I'm telling you one more time you better stop smoking as your doctor I want to make sure you follow my orders a doctor look at what what are you talking about and all the doctor grab his lighter and cigarette self in and go out in the smoke in the smoke break area my uncle said you mind if I join you? The doctor said sure, they both had a good laugh and went out the door well a my uncle's no longer with me now but I remember that story he told me. I'm fucking believable they both went out to the smoke break area and had a good smoke
You mean this?

*OMG---LOL ! ! !* ☜💀
Aint nothing like a medical facility tending to ones needs.
Those aliens look like they've been up for days snorting coke.
Earth; best drugs in the universe.
😂😂😂😂
To be fair, aliens are usually high, literally. Just a bit warped out.
I laughed so hard at that . So funny 🤣🤣
You would know by speaking off your experiences
I like their eyes. So gently, so sincere - and full of emotion. lol
I loved these old movies. Watched them over and over as a kid.
What a hoot! Stock footage, giant mutant insects, Peter Graves running in circles in a cavern, big eyed aliens trying to take over Earth. What more could you ask for? Great stuff....!
If only Spongebob wasn't such a pedophile. If only.
They showed Peter Graves 4 minutes of lizards and insects 4 minutes I'll never get back terrible.
asshole go watch a spiderman movie
@@josephdelatorre3751 you need to go watch a spider boy movie thats more your speed
Such an intelligent comment, good night LITTLE MAN.
A Peter Graves Sci-Fi Thriller for sure !!! Two years before my birth...damn I'm getting old.
im 75 im getting old also
I am certain this is part mystery science theatre 3000
old is only what you make it.
No the feeling
I love these old black and white movies. This one I never saw before. Perter Graves has always been handsome. It was filled with excitement. Those reptiles etc. scared me. lol The creatures with the eyes, were funny as heck. Thank you scifilondon for the enjoyment.
No cockroaches were harmed in the making of this movie
Tar Baby...im loving it....born in 1950s......
I love black and white science fiction. TFS
...at the Late Nite... double-feature... picture show (by RKO)...
Black and white Sci-fi rules.
RIGHT ON.
All it is missing is the fuzz of bad reception, keep adjusting those rabbit ears.

Imagine! A whole race of Marty Feldmans!
HA !
chodeshadar18 Noooooo
chodeshadar18 Yes, the connections are astonishing: Marty Feldman, Mel Brooks, Spaceballs...
"Blucher!"

As soon as I saw those eyes, my memory went back to seeing it was I was very young (like 9 or 10). I remember the theater and exactly where we sat. I was so freaked out by those eyes, I had nightmares. Now, they're just creepy but laughable. I love these old movies
So do I.
we at Frenchman flats approve of this movie from our northern neighbor Soledad flats
The quality never stops with this one, but they should give you a free bowl of soup for watching it.
No soup for you!
Cheese soup!🤣

"Your eye exam is over. You may put the shirt and pants back on."
And to think sci fi like this used to scare the crap outta me in my childhood...
This was scary back then...(chiller theatre back in the 1960’s)
Are you talking about Bill Cardill from Pittsburgh? If you are, I and my brothers religiously watched his show and it used to scare the piss out of us. Nice to know that there are other Chiller Theatre watchers out there.
Chilly Billy Cardilly
Love the old four engine Constellations.
Wish I could have flown on one
There are two Super Constellations still flying, one of them with the Swiss watch manufacturer Breitling together with the Super Constellation Flying Association, the other one with the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society of Australia.
@Elizabeth Frantes who doesn't ?
Peter Graves acted in NUMEROUS films, yet the year he died, when the Oscar ceremony recapped all the industy people who passed away, he was NOT mentioned. That was an unfair oversight.
Anyone else notice that they show a B-47 taking off 0:25 but the bomb carrying plane is a B-29 0:49 ? Probably because it was a lot easier to get stock footage of B-29 showing the bomb bay doors opening, because it was a WW II aircraft was essentially obsolete by this time. Footage of the A-bomb test was probably public domain, and they could pad the move a little with free film. Nevertheless, I love these old 50's sci-fi B movies, and grew up watching them on TV in the 1960s.
Brian Salomon, True, but Hollywood loved them while they were in use, because their spectacular take-offs were very photogenic
"Well, that's a relief! I was afraid he'd become ...a COMMIE!"

Any surprise retro-TV channels and old films are so popular! ... and PC-free!
"Come in Tar Baby 2". "Roger, Tar Baby 7".
Goodness. Haven't heard that term since they used to run the Song of the South on the Walt Disney show in the 50s. Not exactly PC.
Yeah, I was wondering if anyone caught that 😮
@@higgsbosongirl Not exactly 😂
Peter Graves would face that giant locust again in “The Beginning of the End”.
This is the kind of stuff that should be on Svengoli. Excellent film.
Where does Svengoolie get his movies from? He should be showing real korny Stuff like this! Wurd!
Martin Carmen You must be from Chicago or WI.
He does use about a fourth of a second snippet of this movie on his current intro of the show.
*clearing all airlanes, clearing all airlanes*
*make way for the big broadcast*
😁
I probably saw this on Sir Graves Ghastly in Michigan in the 60s.
Never have ping pong balls been so scary
Great movie...........great plot......using horn toads, roaches, lizards, taratulas all grown to super size........good dialog.......overcomes less that stellar aliens with bushy eyebrows and huge eyes. It is refreshing to see an intelligent sci fi movie. Two thumbs up !!!
Just when i thought that the movie was getting stale It suddenly took a leap of Fate and became amazing!!
Oh i like the "stale" parts. Those are those square nerd geek manly man secretary makes coffee hokey pretend contrived serious scientist military journalist no drama drama sections. Very nice for background music while cooking in the kitchen, or as a sleeping companion.
Peter Graves voice is comforting. Helps me to sleep!
Ha ha ha !
I LOVE these old sci-fi movies!
I found a double Spanish Coffee to be my perfect accompaniment. After the fourth one I turned into the Killed Mumbler From Outer Space.
Love these old black and white movies, but Peter Graves makes it better. Wonder where the giant ants are...😉
OMG I love this movie! Those aliens! So hilarious!
They had the good stuff. That's the good stuff from outer space
Their eyeballs actually cast shadows. What a ridiculous movie 😂 thanks for posting this epic mess. Glad I had a chance to see it.
I love these 50s bomb tests where the guys sit in lawn chairs with sun glasses on and think they are protected lol
That's Peter Graves, miraculous recovery from jet crash!!
Turns up in staring roll in TV series "Misson Impossible"!!!
Did anyone notice, one of the army desk clerks says his name is Mandel or Mantrel or Mantel; the latter is the name of that pilot I believe who circa 1948, was chasing a visual UFO, on radar too I believe, but he chased it, said it was huge & fast, but he went too high, probably lost consciousness, airplane crashed, known as first UFO related death...
STARTREK had an episode of the same incident and pilot
Thanx for the heads-up! ☜👽
Capt. Thomas Mantell. Here's the whole story: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantell_UFO_incident
Attack of the bubble eyes... -great view on the zeitgeist of the atomic age!
GREAT movie, really enjoyed this one! Peter Graves is in quite a few of these old sci-fi flicks....
I think there should be a remake or sequel to THIS flick but taking place after those giant lizards and bugs, from that "menagerie", have been UNLEASHED. It would be perfect in the post splatter & action movie age, .. . could depict people fighting those things or struggling to take refuge from them or being victimized by them, and the depiction of them "devouring" people could be pretty gory. There'd be a lot of potential in it, ya know.
I love these classic movies back when actors and actresses had true talent unlike today. Thank you for uploading it ❤
8 min in a Master Sargent on the gate? This really is science fiction!😂😂
They saw old movies about The Phantom and said "Wo, cool. Let's all get spiffy hoodies like that. And wear ping pong ball glasses instead of eye masks. Then we'll be the cool kids!"
Reminds me of being little, early 1970's. Dark living room. Old houses. Adults nodded off or silently watching. Me not understanding the movie but nothing else to really do. No technology back then. Daydreaming. But the old movie sound from an innocent time engraved in my mind forever.
Then what happened?
The wife resembles Elizabeth Taylor and plays up the resemblance with the pouty facial expressions
Great flick!
The aliens and their gadgets look like they were re-cycled from a 1940 cliff hanger serial, e.g. Rocketman.
I always love the sociopolitical aspects of older sci-fi.
Rod Sterling actually used The Twilight Zone to address issues he couldn't get past the censors with non sci-fi. Imho, this is what makes his version of the Twilight Zone superior to all remakes.
I think at least one aspect of movies like this was about us trying to come to terms with our creation of atomic power.
Yes now we're talking!
These are the sci-fi films I was brought up on!! Looking forwards to watching this again....along with the 60s Hammer Horror films I'm in my element!
Do you get ME tv ? See Svengoolie on Sat night
I like the picture of Barnaby Jones hanging in the colonel's office. He must be president in this universe. So much to love about these movies. Go from an imminent plane crash to showing up at the base gate, a bit ruffled up but hairstyle intact. A giant surgical scar. Shrug. Golly, must have got it in the crash. Oh, only ten minutes in. Back to the show!
Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton had a set of those bulging eyes on the Honeymooners. I laughed my ass off
Damnit I wish this was on mystery science theatre 3000.
The doctor is a world-class fighter as well apparently . lol
LOL, the giant insects at 44:00 Same year, 1954, Graves brother Jim Arness starred in Them! about an invasion of giant ants...which ends up in a blazing battle in the LA sewer system, which somehow seems appropriate.
Stephen Dreher I love that movie.
Didn't know they were brothers
Betty Robinson I guess wanted to make sure they didn’t get confused for one another.
And they fixed his heart with big soldering irons ! Gotta
love the 50’s !
I love how they can't believe certain things in the midst of seeing aliens etc 😂😂😂
Many ping pong balls gave their lives to make this movie...
Hahahahahaha !1!!
That's what many people thought. The makeup man, Harry Thomas, revealed that the eyes were made from the bottoms of egg cartons.
Captain Kangaroo was not amused!
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
you beat me to it eddy they come from the planet Marty filedman
the special effect must of cost a lot all of about 10 bucks
I guess most of the people watching these movies aren’t old enough to have read any of the Uncle Remus tales. They are lesson based stories. That’s where the tarbaby reference comes from. I really enjoy theses old movies...they bring back childhood memories.
ua-cam.com/video/yHIhsq9qHPk/v-deo.html :))
Song of the South
Pamela Dipzinski I thought the same thing until I realized that the term 'tarbaby' is referring to the fact that the planes are taking off and landing on tar. To call the planes 'tarbaby 1, tarbaby 2, tarbaby 7' as in the old racist slang makes no sense whatsoever.
@@antidotenyhc6562 Tarbaby is not a a racist slang. It's usage should be obvious if you have ever got tar on your hands. Though I suppose anything can be racist if you try hard enough.
Not a racist slang?
Here's the Free Dictionary definition if you don't believe me. Tar Babies:
"Offensive slang used as a disparaging term for a black person, especially a dark-skinned black child. [After 'Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby', an Uncle Remus story by Joel Chandler Harris']
Which is precisley why Uncle Remus books and movies were banned back in the 80s.
Look it up if you think i'm making it up.
My favorites are Black & White Sci-Fit & Black & Whire Murder Mysteries & also Black & White UFO's.
That is the most awesomeness yes awesomeness movie ever!
My uncle saw this in a theater in Clinton Ok when he was 6 with my grandparents it gave him nightmares we watched it the other day and he laughed at the fact it gave him nightmares.
Not bad, solid sci-fi drama with Peter Graves. ONLY ONE over the top alien cosmetic feature which "they" do explain, otherwise everything else seems plausible.
Not the greatest, but a entertaining diversion.
had a super cozy time eating popcorn and watching this.....thanks!
I will never look at a ping pall ball the same ever again. 😅
"Damn your eyes!" "Sorry, too late!"
LOL! Surgery by welding torch!
Foretelling laser surgery.
The car Dr. Martin (Peter Graves) drives in this film is a 1953 Studebaker Starlite
Thanks for the upload and sharing it with us. Keep up the good work.
Around 38 or so minutes into the flick, one of the aliens gives a 'report." It sounded like reversed audio, so I recorded it and used audacity to reverse it back again.
Yep. It's nonsense, but the guy says a coherent sentence.
"The readings are 25 26 to the right, 27 28 29 to the left, 30 31 up, 32 33 down."
Don't you just love Audacity!!
Thanks for doing that, I was curious.
Dam, what kind of alien numerical secret code is that?
@@jeffaller6190 The "actor is ad-libbing to take up time" kind. :) :) :)
Great movie for it's time!!!
This is a good Sci-fi/Horror movie!
good film
The ”special effects” are incredible...
Notice that Eisenhower’s pictures are everywhere in this film!! Also how these 50’s films foretold the future/investigation of UFOlogy!! As Eisenhower said, beware the Military Industrial Complex! Common sense is needed but an open mind is needed also!!
Warning: many table tennis balls were harmed in the making of this movie.
The Thing from Another World Featuring Actor James Arness as the monster and here on this B-rated Sci-Fi flick featuring his Brother Peter Graves, two great actors with long careers in T.V. & Movies and here they were during the mid 1950's in their early beginning's. I don't recall ever seeing Killers from Space because when I was a kid I use to tune into Chiller Theater or Creature Features and I think I'd remember this one from way back when, but it was fun tuning into this cool oldie on UA-cam.
Neat - Oh !!! LOL !
Totally right... Great comment... Now I'm in bed enjoying this enjoyable flick...
And let me add that these two brothers were underrated actors...
@@sergi339These two brothers James Arness & Peter Graves were very good actors and between the two of them we had Gun Smoke & Mission Impossible and some movie moments. They left their mark.
@@franktheo2055 I knew James from 'Terror...' Unfortunately Gun Smoke couldn't be seen in my country, I never heard about it, but thanks to your comment, I'm gonna watch it!

@@franktheo2055 thank youuu...🙏🍺😊
aliens eyes like fried eggs but i love Pete G
Cheap and low budget but kind of suspenseful and atmospheric. That was especially true in the aliens' underground cavern (the reviving the dead scene was kind of creepy).
Just a bit of film trivia, Paul nudeman tured down the main role in this Hollywood master class because of the arguments he had with its second director John Ford , John Ford went on to direct goastbusters.
400 ping pong balls were sacrificed in the making of this movie.
Not a whole lotta action, but Peter Graves still has the 'it' factor that made him a star, and not just James Arness' brother
3:19 “Control from Tarbaby II...”. wtf?
Great Movie 😍 I have the DVD 💓 Thumbs Up for You😄 Thanks. I watch it often 💓 🎈. Stay Well 🤗😍🎈
For a low - budget, B - grade sci - fi movie , it is very well written with an original plot and not the same old same old
I love this movie. I've seen it many times. Thanks!
Aliens have black and white displays, too.
i like the lizard that goes "blooblooobloobloobloop!"
Okay, *so people who aren't really crazy act crazy as hell to convince others they're not really crazy.* Right. Makes perfect sense to me. He sure is damn lucky he didn't have to prove he's sane. LOL.
He tried but when they didn't believe him, despite the crash and the weird scar, he got so frustrated he "acted crazy". Even after truth serum they refused to believe it might be true.
