Beautiful song. And if anyone says Ringo wasn't a great drummer, they need to really listen to this song. The drums are incredible, like a melodic instrument.
I think every Beatles song is my favorite, but this one is my favorite favorite. George's masterpiece, among all his other masterpieces. Paul's melodic bass work is fantastic here.
Probably my favourite Beatle's song, which is not easy to say because of the insane amount of brilliant songs they wrote, it's almost like being asked to choose between your children ! But don't forget the role George Martin played in the construction of the recordings, he was often referred to as the '5th Beatle'
I actually agree. Harrison was the soul. Mccartney was the brain. Lennon was the heart...Ringo...hmm...The legs? Solid, consistent, reliable. The stable one who never went through weird phases or obnoxious power trips.
Eleanor Rigby is such pure poetry too. One line talks about an old lady who never married and died alone, but it says, “Eleanor Rigby died in the night (edit- a church) and was buried along with her name. Nobody came.” So beautiful the way they put words together.
Well excuse my unpardonable mistake! Anyway, I thought it was beautiful that in stead of saying she died an old maid who never got married, they said she was buried along with her name. At least that’s the way I interpreted that line. I thought it was beautifully poetic.
And what does George do for a follow up? After The Beatles officially break up, he goes off and makes one greatest records ever. All Things Must Pass. So many amazing songs, some dating back to The White Album sessions. But he was the third man on the totem pole so he had to wait for his time to shine.
Was a triple album because he had so much material back logged from at least four or five years as a Beatle.George was always the peacemaker or spiritual one of the group.
The Beatles were very exceptional in many ways but their song writing situation was amazing ,In most bands the band is begging for songs from any of them ,In the Beatles with Lennon and Mac George had to push in ,,
This is not quite right. George has slowly been able to build up his self-confidence. Certainly understandable given the competition in the band, he was also still the youngest. But look at 'Let It Be' tapes or movie. George is still quite unsure about the direction his songs will take. John, Paul and Ringo talk to him for days and work on his songs together. In the end, his versions on All Things Must Pass are pretty close to what he had worked out with the other Beatles.
So many aspects of this arrangement are worthy of comment. Ringo's drumming, Paul's bass lines, George's vocal and iconic guitar solo. Abbey Road was the signpost for the exit taken by the Beatles. In retrospect, it was the best career move. Nobody will ever accomplish what these four young men did in six years. Ever.
One of the best songs they did. There are so many...my God. No group again will ever be like the Beatles. You guys need to do a video to the top 20 or 30 songs they did. You will love them all. Have fun.
george sang lead vocal, back up, harmonies, rythem n lead guitar n wasa songwriter. beatles were top heavy, 4 lead soingers, 3 songwriters. amzing group of talent.
I think this song is one of the best of The Beatles, most ronantic song ever written, as Frank says, and this video is by far the best of them (especially, four beatles and their lovers, and their loving faces…). As you say, the middle part (transition of key C→ A→ C, and the rhythm!) is epoch-making and so influential, I think.
For young men, I'm blown away how you get them so. We all felt the same way, but they were our peers, we lived this. They were/ are magnificent brilliant funny humble Unique monumental. .They are music. Thank you guys... Mass U.S.
Three of my favorite Beatles songs are George Harrison classics. Something, Here comes the Sun, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Eric Clapton helped out on the Guitar 🎸
The blonde girl in the video was Patty Boyd George's wife the one who inspired this song......then she leave Harrison and married his best friend Eric Clapton one of the all time best guitar player and wrote 'Layla' one of the all time great songs too
James Taylor song Something in the Way She Moves was basically the real inspiration for this because James was the first artist to be singed on the Apple Label ..George defiantly took that one line and made a classic
They started as a boy band only in the sense that they were boys when they started. To me a boy band is a corporate entity of cute boys put together to sell to teenage girls. The Beatles may have had teenage girls screaming when they started but they were a hard-working organically formed band from the start.
Another one from George is When my Guitar gently weeps, superb,.You are so right about George being the soul of the Beatles, he wrote so many fab songs, but struggled to get them on the Albums, because of the other two Geniuses in the band.
Hey guys! The great Frank Sinatra call it the greatest love song of the last 50years and recorded a cover and sang it on his live shows with his orchestra. And he was a guy expert on love songs ✌ peace
At the end of the Beatles John Lennon said that George Harrison because he was two years younger was a late bloomer. John said at the end of The Beatles George was every bit as good as himself and Paul.
ITS CRAZY WHEN THE BEATLES BROKE UP THE OLDEST BEATLES WERE JOHN AND RINGO 29 AND CRAZIEST THING IS GEORGE WAS ONLY 26 WHEN THE BEATLES BROKE UP. HE DID NOT TURN 27 UNTIL FEB 25 1970 AND THE BEATLES NEVER RECORDED AFTER 1969. AMAZING TO THINK
NO NO NO NO NO. George Harrison was an integral part of the Beatles. But most of the songs were written by John and Paul. But 99.9% of what they put out was REVOLUTIONARY!
From first to last record, less than a decade, and nobody in the band was 30 yet when they broke up. Casually changed music, the music business, recording, and a good bit of the world along the way. No big deal, right?
I had forgotten how beautiful a song this was. I've always loved it, but I hadn't listened to it for a long time. "Because" is another masterpiece by them. How not to love these four geniouses.
Please react to more songs from the Beatles. Songs like do you want to know a secret, wait, ask me why, real love, hey bulldog, things we said Today and if I fell
Love Hey Bulldog and Altogether Now which actually prevented me from thinking of taking my own life. I pulled out a Beatles album and Altogether Now saved me. Who could die with such a song playing? Not me for sure.
Patrick and George thanks for this official video, it's my favourite! Yes the guys were very young then, in 1969. Ringo and John, 29 Paul, 27 George, only 26!!!
George Harrison was my favorite Beatle. He had so much beautiful songs.
Absolutely! His first solo album "All Things Must Pass" is a masterpiece (for me, the best solo work by a ex-beatle)...
He performed the best post-Beatles album "All things must pass"
The bassline is one of Paul’s best on any of their songs!
Yeah, it's stunning
It´s a song within the song, that bassline!...
The most melodic bassline of all!... Naturally! Being Paul "The Master of Melody"...
George's guitar playing is pure beauty.
Actually the guitar chords on "Something" were done by Eric Clapton
@@mixmasta262 what a fucking irony isnt it?
@@mixmasta262 No, its George! Eric played the solo of " While my guitar gently weeps."

Nicholas Maxwell, Ringo was the Beat in The Beatles.
No McCartney was the heart, and John Lennon was the brain
I always said Lennon was the mind, Paul the heart (how it hurt him when they broke up), George the spirit, and Ringo the Personality. One total person
Even Frank Sinatra said this was the greatest love song ever written...and he also sang it live...now that's saying something.
Eleanor Rigby is such pure poetry too. One line talks about an old lady who never married and died alone, but it says, “Eleanor Rigby died in the night (edit- a church) and was buried along with her name. Nobody came.” So beautiful the way they put words together.
I agree with you Molly but Eleanor Rigby died in the church and not at night. Unless the church was open at night😁
Molly Price, Eleanor Rigby died in the church.
@@kroakie4 Yes. As I said. But then again churches are known to echo.
The Scott Andrew Brass Memorial Bench, well excuuuse me! There is no need to be snarky.

George was the quiet Soul of the Beatles and a Genius , You're right .
George Harrison, "What is life"
The Beatles,
"Tomorrow never knows"
"I feel fine"
"Ticket to Ride"
Beatles are such a good mix of catchy/accessibility, but still sophisticated, deep and artistic. Groovy too. just the full package really.
God Bless you for saying George was the soul of The Beatles he certainly was a beautiful soul.❤️
hey guys, please react to the fantastic Beatles song called While my guitar gently weeps.
I requested this on Patreon back in December- it's "on their list".
Then the tribute version with Harrison's son, Tom Petty, Prince etc.
Eric Clapton does the guitar work on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, nu?

The greatest song of all time in my opinion. The song has so much depth.
Agree, the melody, the instrumentation, the drum beat, the guitar bass, the solo, man this song is very special.

My favourite beatle George harrison had the most beautiful voice and songs
John Lennon said of the song, "I think that's about the best track on the album".
McCartney knew exactly when to incorporate his voice to accent Lennon's and George's songs.
George's best song, and one of the absolute greatest Beatles songs!!! 100% pure magic from beginning to the incredible end. :)
Musical perfection.
George was my favorite right from the beginning! George was the youngest of the 4 and Ringo was the eldest!

Well George was amazing as they all were. So glad new generations enjoy their music! Something wow whst a great song.
George's "Here comes the Sun" is close second in the Beatles era IMO it would be great to hear take on it,
Bass and drums at their peak in rock and roll history.

I saw them live in Sweden 1963, I was 13 and it was an experince I will never forget.
