Hai,i'm from India. In my childhood days,i got a 6v dc motor from a cassette player..It was a precious thing in my life in that days..I bring it in school and show the working to all my friends...This exp. hurts me a little bit...Better u giv these motors to some kids..You can see their joy.
Me too , Dennis . I still have my first two electric motors from junior school days. You're right ; very precious and taught me a lot. As for "these motors have a governor in them " . . . ! ! ! . . perhaps he would have been better taking them apart to learn more , rather than just destroying them for youtube "fame". ( UK here )
@bbethan69 true, i just think in india and other poor countries, you cherish these "expensive" electronics muuch, much more than in rich, developed countries. Imagine being dirt poor living in a hut and suddenly you get this cool electronic motor that runs on a battery, i mean even i would be cherishing it lol.

wow, props to that last motor. Didnt even burnout. The rotor flew apart before it burned out. EDIT: nvm, yeah those tape deck motors do have governors in them lol no wonder it flew apart
Oooh, come on maaan! The last guy was my hero, man ! you should not blow it up, but keep it man. the last motor was the last Samurai ! the last Mohawk ! It took freaking 120 volts man!
...I understand doing it on like 1 or 2, or even 4 maybe, but with all those motor I feel like you could make some sort of fan, circuitry set, RC car, or something else cool... Ah well, to each his own.
Kick Ass! Reminds me of the good ole days, Nice. I used to hook up the cordless drill motors to the arc welder, they run good at 60-90 amps, but as you crank up the amp to 140+ they blow flames out the brush vents, LOL!
Nikola Tesla would bring 3 phase induction motors to the party and ask him if he could pop those too with his 5 million Volt Variac, while laughing at those pathetic DC motors and bitchslapping Edison.
I don't want to disagree for the sake of simply doing so. You called that part that flew out a governor. Two issues I have with that. One if they are governed internally then your adding voltage should not have changed the RPM. Two why did that "governor" look like a brush and brush spring?
They actually have brushes, overtime the brushes wear out quickly,,in this case you just need to replace the brushes with new one,,i have a DC motor like this and when i have little fun of them, the brush got wear out,,so just replace with new one and back to normal,,no need to throw to the garbage,,unless the armature Burned out
Breaking decent usable stuff. Can't give a thumbs up for that. If it was just a couple ok, but this is just wasting stuff. Send them to me and ill use 'm in my robots...
You should put a mirror on the other side of the motors so it's easier for us to see what's going on up front and when they stop spinning......just a thought
Can you overvolt an AC induction shaded-pole motor? It's very fun too!! For example, motor from microwave fan. Also very interesting, what will be if remove copper shunts from shaded-pole motor.
Very good. I'm wanting to make a star roller for fireworks. It's a 5 gal bucket that has to spine just fast enough to tumble the stars to bake them round as you add composition to them much like they do making candy M&Ms and such. What kind of motor would you digest. Thank you Dan yost.
I had a bigger motor used for a handheld drill and used 10,000 volts on it. It didn't break, but it made cool arcs inside. It was probably because it ha very little amps that it didn't break.
I think m at right Place to ask a question and sort out my problem facing from past few weaks . The question is i am making a Automated Mechanism "a latch lifter" yes u listen right "a latch lifter" rather than a door Opener bcz it will cost much and i wanted to do it a cheap as Possible i have probably arrange few things but The Question is the latch is about 250-300gm and i was searching for a cheap but effective dc motor with high Torque which can lift that much of weight there is no matter of speed so plz tell me which motor will be the best ?? reply Asap !

All of you were good candidates, sad to see none of you made the cut. You were good soldiers, you went out with honor! Specially you number 4.
LMAO
icri
I cry

MaddoxInc we need to hold a ceremony for the fallen
The little engine that could
fla playa the little crane that could
fla playa not
Destructive science!
The world needs more people like you.
Hate seeing so many motors go to waste. But it is so fun to watch!!!!!!!!!
the last poor motor released a fart and then departed
+Alexandros Sotiropoulos ahahahahahah lol you make me laugh so hard :)
I am glad to hear that!
χαχαχαχαχα αφού το ξεκώλιασε....
a little 12v dc motor handled over 100 volts....?
Sure did! but as you can see.. not for very long.
HL4EHalfLife wow so why r they 12 volt when they can handle a 100
epecally when 12 volt drills are powerless
yea and you just start crying at only 40v.
2:10 What brand was that? Incredible.
I'm 7 years late here but I need to know as well. That thing was a beast and I want to use it in my current project lol
damn, this is like ISIS for Electronics :/
lmao 😂😂😂😂
sweet destruction!!!! that last one was a champ 100 volts+ nice
wow, props to that last motor.
Didnt even burnout. The rotor flew apart before it burned out.
EDIT: nvm, yeah those tape deck motors do have governors in them lol no wonder it flew apart
This man sat and soldered all these motors to leads and put little tape pieces on them so that he could destroy them for you. Thankyou sir.
Glad you enjoyed it!
don't break those perfectly good motors.
Kids in Africa could've eaten that electricity.
The underdog that stood up to 110VDC...damn, who manufactured it?
Toyota!
ah, I can smell the arcing brushes and melting plastic...
Oooh, come on maaan! The last guy was my hero, man ! you should not blow it up, but keep it man. the last motor was the last Samurai ! the last Mohawk ! It took freaking 120 volts man!
here before this starts getting recommended to everyone
Yo
down vote from me until you give the details (brand and model number) of the survivor motor!!!!!!!!!
.
Great Video! What a great way to see what happens to a set of motors in times of failure from overload.
Thank you
Dayum, I used to dig through electronic trash just to find these type of DC motors.
i still do, my newest find was a Mabuchi motor from a Clementoni dinosaur toy.
Soo funny ! The last one refusing to die 🤣
Most of them were ok for up to 30 V. Then they started failing.
That's s pretty nice extra.
If i were you i will give that to less fortunate engineering students, instead of destroying, this will help them design dc motor controls
...I understand doing it on like 1 or 2, or even 4 maybe, but with all those motor I feel like you could make some sort of fan, circuitry set, RC car, or something else cool...

Oh man I felt sorry for the last motor...You should pardon it and let it be...
poors motors :'(
Nicola Tesla would be crying in his grave over this...
Nikola Tesla would bring 3 phase induction motors to the party and ask him if he could pop those too with his 5 million Volt Variac, while laughing at those pathetic DC motors and bitchslapping Edison.
Lol Damn right!
I have the same DC motor model on the third one from the right. I amazed on the last one standing, cool
that survivor motor was awesome.
bravo no4 you gave it your all
They are in motor heaven now...
Cool low old tech meets high voltage and goes pop!
13 motors R.I.P :'(
i know its an old video but damn number 4 impressed me may i ask what type of power supply you are using?
Yhea same thats one tough little motor
This power supply: ua-cam.com/video/OTGlwntoOO4/v-deo.html
Mom... Jimmy and Bobby are bored again. And the fire extinguishers are empty..again
The final defiant act of the last motor to die was to spit a brush at the executioner!
this was funner than i thought
I don't want to disagree for the sake of simply doing so. You called that part that flew out a governor. Two issues I have with that. One if they are governed internally then your adding voltage should not have changed the RPM. Two why did that "governor" look like a brush and brush spring?
It was the governor, what I had in my hand was a tiny weight and the flat spring metal it was mounted to.
that 1 motor was a BEAST...I MUST KNOW WHAT THAT WAS OUT OF
tape deck
As a motor lover, I'm offended.
These are my favourite motors u stolen my mind.
Me too had a 3v, 9v, dc motor from my school time and yes it is still working and preseous to me. INDIA.
they turn into an arc reactor for a few seconds. lol
Fun fact: the motors are wired in parallel.
Why?: if wired in series, some might not work.
Wow! That last one chooched up over 100V!
At least I'll know where to go now when I need more "Motor-vation"
That was awesome!
The real question is why am I watching this?
Only the strongest will survive.
The last one that blew is an older kind with a built in governor That's probably why it lasted so long.
That last one that died would have been good to use in some sorta project.
They actually have brushes, overtime the brushes wear out quickly,,in this case you just need to replace the brushes with new one,,i have a DC motor like this and when i have little fun of them, the brush got wear out,,so just replace with new one and back to normal,,no need to throw to the garbage,,unless the armature Burned out
DOPE video, bro haha!
All that Magic Smoke ! Their souls are lost forever ......
Last one was funny. Shame tho, some of those steel backed ones are always good for models and projects
HOW HAVE I NOT FOUND THESE VIDS BEFORE HAHAHAHHAHAHAH
man i needed that
Breaking decent usable stuff. Can't give a thumbs up for that.
If it was just a couple ok, but this is just wasting stuff. Send them to me and ill use 'm in my robots...
people in africa could have ate em
べがらう Exactly ;-;
You should put a mirror on the other side of the motors so it's easier for us to see what's going on up front and when they stop spinning......just a thought
THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST SEQUEL SINCE HL3!
This was fun !

that last motor is one skookem coocher
terry jenkins Gotta love ave
terry jenkins aaaaaaahh i see what you did there! :-) (Ave)
Grant Harmon darn right!
szili76 Ave is the best you learn new things including potty mouth words lol
what did you power them with? My bench power supply only goes to like 30v and when I put it on 30v the amps aren't real high
this is awesome. subbed
just earned a subscriber!
Made my day
holy fuck that one motor still run up until 120 volts
Very good. I'm wanting to make a star roller for fireworks. It's a 5 gal bucket that has to spine just fast enough to tumble the stars to bake them round as you add composition to them much like they do making candy M&Ms and such. What kind of motor would you digest. Thank you Dan yost.
Great tutorial, Thank you.. :)
And I'm struggling to find rc motors I should have bought those of you for 100 bucks
I had a bigger motor used for a handheld drill and used 10,000 volts on it. It didn't break, but it made cool arcs inside. It was probably because it ha very little amps that it didn't break.

That's f ing awesome
i wonder what will happen if you try that on a tesla motor
...probably would have liked to have the tape decks those came out of...
I can smell the burning motors from the screen
MMMORTY COME ON, WE GOTTA GO BACK TO THE FUTURE.
finally awesome
did the last one break completely or can u fix it
this is beautiful
this makes me saad.. poor motors
the son of Einstein is come.
Talk about a fucking pyrotechnics display lol XD
very good!
You are serial killer.., those motors are scare of you name. 😂
Nice lightshow
are the electromagnetic fields of each motor negatively effecting performance and longevity of adjacent motors?
and the winner is #4.
The manufacture would be proud of the abuse.
i remember when i put too much voltage and cable melted XD
those little regulating caps on the back will blow up when they reach their limit...STINKS!
at 1:20 it sounded like a whoopie cushion hahahah
interesting video
Oh my good İt's very good
Best video
what is the purpose of this "experiment" or demonstration. could you not come up with any better ideas for their use. I am curious.
The purpose is fun, and since posting this video in 2013 I've basically collected an equivalent number of motors that were burnt out that day.
it's like Isis killing lines of people :'(..... why?
douchebag690 Allahu Voltbar
Prismic James you are just stupid, if Isis bad guys, why you talking like that about Allah..
just keep your mouth closed.
Ahmad Rayyan Ahloha Snackbar
just wondering...why are you burning them out?
cuz it's FUN.
its a waste of time and money but is cool to make some cool experiences
