It is so weird that 99.9% of the world has no idea the greatest drummer on earth drives an Uber and plays drums in his basement in Pittsburgh. Love you, Damon. You have made my life so much better. Glad you’re still doing your thing.
I would love to see a documentary film on Don Cab one day. Hell, if I had the money I’d try to have one made……no matter the cost, it would be small potatoes compared to how much Damon and the rest of Don Cab have made my life better through their music. Keep up the awesome work with these vids!
It's kind of nuts playing this style of music over the recorded tracks. I like that you can hear Damon sort of nudging himself back into timing here and there, whereas normally the band would follow the drum
I can't believe this is real. Thanks SO much for posting these videos, Don Cab remain one of my favourite bands ever and seeing these videos brings joyful tears to my eyes.
Fuck yes dude. This was always my favorite growing up. Damon is a CHAMPION. Still got it 🤟🙏🤙 Edit: WTF is he playing this better than ever??! I'm totally sober too, fuckin A man what a run
Been bumping a lot of Don Cab since you guys started posting videos. Slice Where You Live is my absolute favorite. Props to you for continuing to play and contributing art to the world.
In my mind Don Caballero is the only instrumental band. Thank you for breathing new life into this song and for that matter, creating this channel. Don Caballero 2, June is finally here, please and thank you!!
Saw the original line up at the Beehive in Oakland (Pgh) in the early 90s & have been following ever since. The music always stays fresh sounding with every listen. Love it
One of my prized posessions? I saw Don Cab at Maxwells om what was probably one of the coldest Feb days of that year, and the crowd was slim. Damon was selling signed used sticks for $3 each. OF COURSE I BOUGHT ONE!
i was sick for five days and this made me recover instantly. my favorite Don Caballero song, one of my favorite ever. and seeing him playing it. thank you for this.
I love the dingy wood paneling and water-stained ceiling tiles. Just like the basements we'd go to see shows in back in Pittsburgh in the early/mid 90s to see Don Cab and Hurl etc. Man I miss those days. These videos are so awesome to see, thanks Damon!
Don Cab... My young drum students in the 1990s were just gaga over you guys and you became a favorite of mine too. Glad to see some movement in this band after all these years.
Damon, I don't know what I would've done without your music as a teenager throughout the 2010's, but let's just say it changed my life musically and for the best. I don't think I would be who I am today if it weren't for Don Cab! The way I look at playing drums, guitar and bass is so different than before, and I think discovering Don Cab during the rougher part of my teen years is what made me into the musician that I am today. All I can say is THANK YOU! I'm so happy to see you uploading videos.
@@DonCaballeroOfficial two powerful musicians, Not to knock the other Don Cabs but the fusion of both Ian and Damon's musicality is so unique and soothing to the ears
Could you ask damon a bit about playing guitar? I know he did a little for Don Cab, but I'm just interested in hearing about it in general, as all of these interviews have been done next to that awesome 5150 half stack. I have a feeling he might like EVH haha. I've always kinda seen drums as "his instrument" so I'd love to hear about his experience playing guitar, when he started, why he still does, stuff like that. Edit: Damon uses the same strings that I use!
as in: The National Recording Registry is a list of sound recordings deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress. this is one of them.
amazing, amazing work as always to damon and the krew here. feels amazing to enjoy this performance like this, so intimate and chilled out. thanks for makin it happen.
Can you please do a video of “Room Temperature Suite”?? It’s always been one of my absolute favorites, & no one ever mentions it when talking about Don Cab songs. When the double bass kicks in, you start riding on the bell & it synchs up with the guitar….. goosebumps.
I humbly request Pantless and Dick Suffers play throughs. Some of the densest / amazingly complex drum parts I think. Followed by Puddin, Chief Sitting Duck, and Got a Mile. But this is fantastic. Thank you also Well Built Road is a beautifully moody and melancholic underdog of a track.
Sorry if this is a common question but what sticks do you use? These new videos have made me so so happy, you are one of my favourite drummers and it’s mesmerising to see you playing through these great tracks again!

Yeah bro you get it
Where'd you get he drives an Uber?
@@BrunoOfCanada A podcast interview he did in the past year or so

The Wesley Willis artwork!!! Yes!!

I would sit in my best friends basement in the early 80's and listen to him practice drums and I'm pretty sure he had the same ear protection.
The king returns to his throne.
One of the best Don Cab songs. Awesome that you can still play like this dude
it doesn't change man, you're still literally the greatest drummer of all time.

Ah shucks thanks so much
American Don is so universal musically DON CABALLERO FOR LIFE
Hell yes man! How about mmmmmmmmmmmmm, acting next?
Mmmmmmm !!!!!!!
Must have been quite a challenge to write and play over Ian's loops. Amazing stuff.
A true, singular artist. I miss Damon making music.
After all these listens I am STILL discovering things in the background I missed in this song.
This song has one of the best, most addictive grooves i've ever heard.
If Damon does decide to do another album, a documentary on Don Cab would be a perfect full circle. I think it would be fascinating!
Wow! Haven't Lived Afro Pop is one of my favorite song by Don Cab! So happy to be able to see a play through by Damon Che! Thank you for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@DonCaballeroOfficial I really did! Thank you!

Your use of the Hi hat makes complete sense to your capabilities. It’s actually the most important item.
My childhood! My teenage years!! Ah the nostalgia. Thank you so much Damon.
overjoyed to see another amazing playthrough!! Damon the goat!!!

That looks like an original Wesley Willis drawing on the wall back there
It sure does. Can we hear the story about how that came to be there? Did Damon know Wesley?
What an utter musical genius !!
i spent a lot of time in this basement in the late 90s.

As real as it gets!
The classic low snare
What is Damon up to these days?! Man it would be good to see him play live again!
Damon's still an absolute machine, seriously looking forward to seeing more of this!
Love that pan at about 5:34 - and a brilliant performance-the additional hits during 5:50-6:30 during the open section are just
Lit AF!!!
It’s so great to see this legend back behind a kit!!
That groove at 0:40 has been on loop in my mind periodically since 2000.
The fuckin man. Thank you so much Ash, Damon, William, Eldred, and Andy!!!!
it was a pleasure i hope we get to do it again.
This made my goddamn day. 😊
Awesome thank you!
Hell yeah! B8 cymbals!
I love that he's made them sound so good
One of my favorite Don Cab tracks, thanks for this
Fantastic, Damon. American Don is my favourite DC album. Hearing this particular song played by you sounds perfect!
Definitely killer, really good🙃🐙🙃🐙🐐
I'm in tears bro, thanks

Dick Suffers has been my fantasy football team name for the past 18 years. Ha.
Wild! He’s playing Sabina B8 Pros on the hi hats? Just goes to show that it’s not the instruments in most cases, but the player that make the sound.
Just killing that snare at the section 6 minutes in. Tight work

Did Damon record all the other tracks just for this? The music sounds a tad different.
