  • This is part of my experience racing in the Desert 100 for the first time, and my first race ever. I'm in the 50 -59 age group so I did just one lap, 50 miles. I initially raced to be able to finish, but as I went on I pushed a little harder to get a better result. Highlights: 4:45 - first carnage and embarrassing loop-out, more fun carnage at 30:15 , Paul Neff overall winner passes me at 35:18 , at 36:57 Jaden Dahners (2nd place) passes me. 37:30 is the final Rock Garden carnage. Big thanks to the volunteers, race workers, course preppers, you made this weekend one of the highlights of my life!

I admire riders for jumping into these races and testing their skill and determination. No better way to understand your abilities and skill level, regardless of riding level! Good entertainment to watch, good job!

Oh man, I just finished 2023 in vintage class, lost my entire exhaust, bent my subframe, lost a battery bracket and bent a foot peg out so far I can't even start the thing without jamming the kickstart. I love this race, great video!

Were you able to finish? I love the sound of the old two strokes especially as they pass me... I hoped to have a video of this years race but my new go pro was so cold it wouldn't start! I went down at about 40 miles and bruised some ribs. Bent my bars but limped in.

@@dasa5381 That's awesome, I'm glad to hear you made it! I didn't have any crashes this year, but ran out of gas at MP47 and had to have a buddy turn around and fill up an old water bottle from his tank to finish. It was awesome!

@@marialuisaponce18ike a turkey dinner. He cooked done. You got to be in top shape to run that whole race even if you pace yourself. Damm wish I never would sold the old KX 500.

Good video. I have been trying to relate to my friends how insane the dust was this year. I also ran in the second wave (Vintage Class).

Last year I was supposed to have a bike. Bike didnt arrive. I ordered a Beta 390 RR-S. Shipping problems kept me from getting it. I went to Desert 100. Dusty weekend but what a blast. Met some great people while there.

Thanks, I have an Akaso V50X I attached to my chin area on helmet. You might have noticed I pass the same people a couple times as I had to stop for battery changes (and resting :)). I'm working on an external battery setup... Bike is a 2019 TM En250, carb version but w/ Lectron.

My husband and I are thinking of going so he can run the race, my only question is how many hours did it take you to run the race? He is a very good rider.

    • @dasa5381

For the 50 mile classes the fastest riders did it in just over 2 hrs and in the 100 mile classes just under 3 1/2! There are a lot of variables such as weather, blown tires (most common bike issue), going off course ( see the 2:00 to 4:00 minute section). Racing in the desert is different than Motocross and singletrack riding , but has elements of both. If you've never done it do the Ironman on Saturday for a taste. Tubliss or Bib Mousses highly recommended.

You need a BIG bomb run...? Wow who put on this race. In the 70's we had 10's of thousands and our club had 1 to 5 mile bomb runs start line looked like the side of a foot field.
In Barstow to Vegas "last real one" the bomb was over 5 miles away, maybe 10, and we were still three deep. But it was better than this. fun is fun

1 - 3 thousand rider. not 10's type.. sorry I think Barstow to Vegas 3,000. Massive bomb run. Practice on bomb run was an event itself..
