  • Here's a demo of the new Pegasus and Sentient pickups from Seymour Duncan. They're great metal pickups with lots of fat and warm tone and very articulate.

    Dude this is just what I was looking for! Everyone who demos this set is always doing some djenty stuff or shreding. You demoed this exactly how I would've. Thanks so much!!!

      Thank you! That's kinda why I did it. I don't feel like its a Djent pickup. I thought it was just a great new metal pickup.

    Great review. Playing stuff most of us will play, not all the pro-level leads (okay, some cool leads). Also, straight out of the amp instead of processed through going straight into a DAW. Nice description of the tone. Thanks, brother.

    This is a great video. I tried the Sentient/pegasus set out in an ESP M-II DX yesterday, and REALLY liked them, so planning on putting the sentient in the neck of my E-II SV, with the Perpetual Burn in the bridge. Tonally they seem to match up nicely according to the Duncan charts so I can't wait to hear how they sound together. This coming from someone who has not been a fan of Duncan pups at ALL, and I really liked these pups :)

      tvelt17 you did a really good job, great color. I just got a new axe myself with a green maple quilt (I'm a sucker for quilted maple top guitars) and have been looking at sets to throw in it. one of my favorite guitar players actually uses this set and it sounds really good. Single note definition was on point for both.

    Have these on my ec1000bp and love them. With the coil split they literally cover every genre.

    One of my dudes and I have been in long discussion about new SDs. I suggested alnico over ceramics, and he found the Pegasis. Hence what brought me to this vid.
    I gotta say I really like the tone of both, and didn't know about the Sentient before this. I'm not a metal guy, but they seem like they could be versatile if need be. Thanks for the demo. I shared it with my dude.

      I don't do youtube reviews, but I am on www.sevenstring.org/forum where I will likely do a review sometime in the future in the pickups section.

    Those Peugus pickups sound killer man.I use Nazgals in the bridge and Sentients in the neck of my Les Paul. If your gonna try out the Nazgals im telling you , your not gonna be disappointed, they sound very aggressive and tight.Im probably gonna buy some Peugus's to throw in my Charvel So Cal after watching this video.I also really dig your guitar, you did a good job with it.Thanks

    I love this guitar man! I'm looking at the newly released LTD sn-1000ht for 2018. It runs at 799.99. What did you pay for the neck and body? I love Fender and LTD but I've been toying with the idea of building my own with a Warmoth neck in mind.

    I'd like to get a LTD ec 1000 blue natural Fade with SD sentient and pegasus PU. Is this one enough for playing metal or should I go for EMGs active pickups ? I already have a Gibson tribute with 490 t and 490r. Is the output of the seymour Duncan Sentient and pegasus superior ? Are they too similar ? Thank you for your answer. 😊

    haha funny you mentioned the evo is better in the neck but SD pickup bridges are better.
    When i was buying pickups for my Jackson about 10years ago i for some reason didnt get the jb/jazz set and ended up getting a jb in the bridge and an evo 2 in the neck. I never even checked if they match well or are balanced together but oh well haha

  • @angrytroll27
    @angrytroll27 7 років тому +1

    how would you describe these compared to the jb/59 combo?? im finding the jb/59 set a bit harsh on the high end and want something a bit smoother

    • @luckyg8971
      @luckyg8971 3 роки тому +1

      The pegasus is gonna have better low end than the JB. Not as hot but a more balanced EQ than the JB has. The sentient is a damn good neck pickup

    the sound captured by the microphone of the camera is not faithful, and even less if you put your body as a wall between the cphone and the cabinet

    No offense intended to you at all but I do not care for the tone of those pickups. It doesn't sound like it does anything particularly well. I love metal but I think I like the sound of the APH-1/2 s better. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

      To be fair, this is a poor presentation of the pickups sound. He's literally in the way of the amp and it's not a direct input either so
