I got a black winter bridge recently and it's far and away the most diverse high output pup I've ever used. They're amazing for metal but they are not muddy like most "metal" pickups which means you can play all sorts of music with it (them).

Totally agree. I was really surprised how nice it sounds when you roll the volume down a little too. Really versatile pickup. Getting ready to buy another one today actually.
First of all, I gotta say, Rick Graham is definitely one of the sickest modern shredders around and this is probably the most accurate demo of the Black Winters on YT. Secondly, I recently installed both the SD Nazgul/Sentient(6 string) set and Black Winter set in my 2 favorite axes and goddamn, they bucking both sound fucking brutal! Death, slam, thrash, black, "djent"; they sound badass for all metal. There's another comment that points out that in this vid Rick plays mostly leads and honestly, that's what the BWs are better for. IMO go Nazgul/Sentient set for a rhythm guitarist and Black Winter set for a lead player. Either set, you can't go wrong.
I have to agree, although I use the Pegasus over the Nazgul personally, a little more articulate and colourful imho. All great pups by Seymour Duncan though!!
@@OGbrundle I am actually planning on putting the Nazgul bridge and Black Winter neck on my cheap Epiphone SG here soon. I will most likely post a video once I have it done

The cleans are the real surprise. What's neat is this pickup appears marketed towards extreme metal, but they can do hair metal, hard blues, shred, and are very musical sounding even in saturated high gain.
I 'm strongly considering these pickups. Love the way they sound. Thank you for the review. Nice playing by the way. Not just constant shredding like most other reviews I watch, you do some Chord work which I did a lot. You also let the sound ring out so you can really listen. Great job!!!
