We sold our house in Kansas and moved to northern California after spending a month camping/swimming along the Trinity river and Helena area. The awesome swimming holes in the region were HUGE factors in our decision to relocate. Thanks for this great guide to fun...we are always searching for more spots.

I used to live in Parsons Ks. and moved back out here because of the ocean and the great swimming and fishing holes in Northern (Humboldt) California. Plus I dont care much for tornadoes, lol.

The next edition is almost done. It will have 20 new swimming holes never reported on before. Paradise pools will be in the book.

Tim, just want to say "thanks man!" I live for this stuff! I have the same passion. I'd love to meet you, if you ever do a book signing. I will have this book as soon as it comes out, just so I can plan this trip to a place i've also searched for... "Paradise Pools".
I'm 52 years old. Not getting any younger either.... I need this one "While I'm Alive".... Great video, and also the one the kids made of paradise on Vimeo. My daughter and I have hunted many, many holes throughout the foothills and Sierras. I need this one! I don't care to tell anyone what I had for lunch, let alone a secret, so please....
We live in Oakdale, so a lot of these we've been too, but I have a thirst for more...

I got a spot for you, just thought I'd mention in case it's not in your book. Which I will soon be buying lol. Take highway 198 east out of Visalia all the way into the Southern entrance to Sequoia National Park. Once in, the road parallels the central fork of the Kaweah River. Drive in from the gate about 1/4 mile, mayble a tad more. The FIRST parking spots on your left side is where you park. Directly across the street towards the river are 2 drainage ponds fenced in. The trail down to the cliffs are started right along side those fences. If you get down the road to the Park headquarters you have gone too far by about 200 yards. Take the trail down to the water. There are multiple safe and solid takeoff spots to jump from 5 to 70 feet into perfectly deep water. The upper bowl is too deep to touch bottom. Then there's a narrow section about 10 feet deep, opening into a lagoon about 30 yards across. The entire pool from upper bowl to where the lower lagoon drops down again is about 130 yards long. It's the best swimming hole on central Cali. I'm 51, been swimming there since 1985. Amazing place worth a visit on a hot day for sure. It will quickly become a favorite.

Over the summer I went on a trip to California and we camped in the mountains and everyday we would go swim at alder slabs but I didn’t know what it was called until now. Thanks so much!

Timothy Joyce do you really have directions to emerald pools? Because no one will give the location because a lot of people get hurt there.

lastlaugh no, it isn’t. Many people have died there cliff jumping and drowning. No one will disclose location. I’m a rock climber and an avid hiker. Does this book have the actual directions?

OneLove OneHeart maybe I was thinking of the one off the 80 Hwy near Truckee. If the swim home is in the book , which I think it is , there is directions. I believe that is how I found it. Great place

Unfortunately, this is human nature with a short term focus. These are all public places and folks don't understand that use means park resources and protection. There are many places to enjoy so why not share them. Failing to use public lands equates to sale to a logging or strip mining company which does longterm permanent damage.
