      Sadly that is what good products turn to when their owners neglect to caring for them over time. Or flaws in the construction process like how the leather is glued on so over time the flexing at the mid would separate from the sole. I don't think the upper is bad either for an expensive sounding shoe so being able to get these (with the leather in great condition) for a decent price and making it easy to repair them from skilled cobblers/leathersmiths is always a treat.

    I taught woodworking for 30+ years, and those nails were always referred to as "ring shank" nails. Threaded would implicate some sort of spiral ridge around it, but these edges are simply a round circle (ring) around the nail shank....hence, the name. Great for these types of applications where you absolutely don't want something coming apart. OH! And "the voice" makes a return.....love it..LOLOL.

      You're very right, it's very very expensive for this job, top level shoemakers in Holland would charge about 150-190 euros for exactly the same work as shown here , using the same top notch materials. 450 dollars for this is insane.

    • @roofchees9

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W 3 роки тому

      The fact you can get shoes like this that can get restored is what takes the cake IMO. Some expensive apparel now just don't age well and disposed of once it breaks down. But well constructed ones will age very well with great materials and still has life to be restored and to be worn once again.

      Taking care of a good pair of leather shoes is not that hard, either. Just a bit of polish and conditioning, along with an occasional resoling when needed. With that little bit of effort and attention, a good pair of leather shoes can last years and years of steady wearing.
