Allen Edmonds Strand Restoration | Shoes Go From Throwaway to Brand New
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 лип 2020
- In this video, we give this pair of Allen Edmonds Strand cap toe oxfords a makeover. A customer mailed these in to us to be refurbished. He requested they simply be resoled, but we took it further than that. After this refurbishment, we think he'll be pleased.

It's 10am, in lockdown and I'm sitting in front of my computer watching some guys fix a pair of old shoes. A LIFE WELL SPENT!
Life is good
Its freaking AWESOME!! I wish I could do something like this. The transformations are unbelievable. You guys RULE!!
Your watching this from prison?
I think he got his moneys worth out of them. Keep up the great work guys.
Thank you very much!
@@TrentonHeath Your welcome. GOD bless.
The sounds in these videos is what keeps me coming back tbh. The cracking of the glue, the Stanley knife through stitches, even the sound the shoe mount makes when it moves around is so satisfying.
I’m amazed at how skilled you guys are. You’re truly artisans. Thank you for sharing this restoration with us.
Guys---in all your videos your treatments and re-doing of shoes are so precise and exact with little or no mistakes. I would love to see a blooper or gag reel of some of the accidents you have to deal with . Again, thanks for your channel !!
😂. Thank you very much!
The brother in charge of repairs looks more and more like “Goose” from Top Gun
dammit! they're brothers?! well.. there goes my ten bucks..
@@bgttgb100 I assumed they were married *shrug*
@@bgttgb100 LOL SAME
New to the channel and this is the video I was waiting to see. A complete tear down and rebuild. I yelled "no you're not!" when Heath said he was going to make new welts for these shoes. Then, to top it off he flippin' hand sews them on! OMG! That's some real craftsmanship right there. Complete admiration and respect for the artistry and skill involved in bringing these shoes back to life. Bravo gentlemen, BRAVO!
Great work on these. Hand stitching that welt is no joke!
Something I just thought of: It would be really cool if you guys were occasionally able to get a video from your clients of them unboxing/trying on/reacting to receiving their reconditioned shoes. It think it would add a really nice, even more personal element to these videos. Y’all put a lot of love and care into these shoes, so it would be really cool to see that translate to the person that owns them. Just a thought 😉
Nick Topits Awesome idea! Thank you for that. We are definitely going to do that!
Don’t know if you read comments but I wanted to let you know I stumbled upon your videos recently and been watching almost daily . Your videos truly help , I’m struggling with depression I’m a stage 4 cancer survivor I’m 4 years in remission but now my wife’s having some health issues and your videos are an escape from the hell that life has seemed to create for me . So thank you 🙏
Well that was hella satisfying to watch!
I particularly enjoyed the hot cork (Oatmeal) application. Thanks Guys 👍🏼👍🏼
George White Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. We appreciate you watching.
yeah me too
Looks like peanut butter to me. Nice work. Pls keep them coming. This length is very easy to justify. Thank you.
@@motorwiz2002 Boy, you must be into the ULTIMATE super chunky peanut butter!!😎
Snidley Whiplash favorite - Graham cracker crumbs
The sound of those stitches being snipped is SO satisfying!
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that in several months we’ll be seeing Heath with a waxed and curled mustachio. After that he’ll definitely be riding a giant front wheel bicycle.
😂
@@TrentonHeath or maybe a Hawaii shirt and a red Ferrari???
I was thinking the same thing....looks like he double- parked his bi-plane.....
you just game him the idea XD
Top hat coming too?
Basically, this video just captured why well built, well made shoes are worth the investment. They can be brought back from death’s doorstep by professionals like T&H and start a whole new chapter of wear (and journeys). Fine work, as always.
Thank you very much, John!
Really appreciate how approachable you make the shoe repair process and cobblers in general. I’ve actually passed on going to a few local shoe repair shops because the vibe I got made me feel like they didn’t even want me in the building. Thanks for all your video’s and the level of detail you provide on the process, I’m thoroughly enjoying your videos.
Allen Edmond is not cheap. Very nice job. I'm an artist by trade. You 2 are artists of a totally different kind. Love watching you both.
Back in black..I'm on track, it's really good to be back. Walk on, walk on.
It's so peculiar seeing you guys with sooo much space in your new digs. This dude is lucky to have you guys rebuild his shoes. Haven't seen ironing the oatmeal before... :D
Nice job as always Mr Potter (the elder) and Mr Potter (the younger) with split duties 👍🏻
Thank you so much! It was a fun job!
So lucky!!
"Good" shoes in, "Great" shoes out with a master's level course in shoe repair with 2 true craftsmen who are obviously passionate about what they do. If it gets better than this I cannot imagine how. A pleasure to watch you guys in action. Please keep it up.
It doesn't matter what you do - all it matters how you do it - how good you are at it. Fantastic job gentlemen.
BIG thumbs-up given. It was reassuring and a pleasure to see you two bring your hallmark skill, care, and attention to detail to this pair of shoes in your new location. I was a little concerned about the move, worried that in bigger digs, Potter & Sons would somehow lose some of the magic that has made me a big fan of your business. I see now there was no need for worry. I hope to be sending you a first pair of shoes to work on in the near future. You've taught me so much over the past year. Thank you for that.
Thank you very much for watching our videos!
Man that canned hot cork looks like a treat! Almost like smearing a granola bar.
Frithjof Silden 😁
What does the burning cork smell like?
@@clubdemagiedemontreal It smells a lot like burning cork. You need a special tool to absorb those acrid fumes: The Cork Sucker...
Arthur Kurtz I had one of those once. She moved back with her sister...
It looks like a Clif bar
Wow!!! I could have used a little voice over telling me what was going on, but overall this is the video I've been waiting to see! If there is a UA-cam equivalent to a Golden Globe or Emmy I think this video should be nominated. So educational and what a result!!! Huge thumbs up!!!!
Thank you so very much! You’re too kind!
I have a pair of Allan Edmonds wing tips sitting in a pair of cedar shoe trees. My mother gave them to me for my 40th birthday and they are in great condition. Oh..and I am 73 years old. You guys do skilled craftsman type of work.
I am so thankful for these videos, but not only because of the fine content provided. For watching the level of quality you gentlemen put into your craft. It motivates me to accept nothing leas than the best in the work I do. Thank you for that motivation.
It is a pure joy to see true craftsmen at work. Please keep the videos coming.
I've bought your products and watched your videos, being bedridden I don't walk much anymore but I enjoy seeing skilled craftsmen at their job. Thanks 😁
These video with destroyed shoes are the best. Fantastic job !
Thank you very much!
Always enjoy watching masters at their craft
Thank you very much!
Yay! It’s that time again.
This one has it all! I've watched nearly all of your videos, looking for the one I can share with family and friends to let them see "hot cork time", hand stitching a handmade welt, fully revitalizing a tired leather upper, machine stitching the sole, and even cutting that little corner out of the heel. It's great to see this kind of skill and craftsmanship as you make something old, new again.
Thank you so very much! It was a fun job!
Yay! The intro music is back again!
By far, the most dramatic shoe makeover I have ever seen. You guys are magicians!
Thank you so very much!
You guy's deserve way more followers than what you have really enjoy your guy's videos thanks for taking the time to do this for everyone to watch
I don't see myself ever owning this style of shoes but I sure as hell enjoy seeing you 2 working on them. Thanks UA-cam suggestions
Thank you very much!
It is not a simple restoration of the sole, but a rebirth.
Nice job !
OMG! Rescued from death’s door. Beautiful New Shoes!! Thanks guys.
When I watch these amazing videos, I feel like I'm hanging out in my grandpa's workshop. Great memories 🙌♡
Awesome memories, I’m sure!
Oh dear.. that tash.. chika pow pow
Let me grab that coffee real quick... Perfect start to a Sunday morning! Great work and great video as always!!!
nodieusa Thank you very much! Enjoy the coffee and the day.
I sit here every sunday morning in S.Island,New Zealand, watching shoes/boots being repaired.
Bloody interesting.
Thanks guys.
Always enjoy watching your videos. Very therapeutic and comforting. Trying to get my sons to watch these as well. Thank you for what you do and please continue. God bless
Thank you very much!
Pride in craftsmanship. Well done gentlemen.
SNL original cast shout-out: GIMME SOME OOOAAATS! Also, TEAM STASHE STRONG. Nice work!
😂
I'm impressed at the level of use this gent got from his shoes 😂 as usual, I am sat here dumbfounded by how good the final product is. Especially considering how battered they arrived!
By the way, Heath... The moustache is working for me 😏😂
Thank you very much! 😉
Whoa..... Haven't been here in a while. Was surprised to be greeted by such a Manly Mustache!
I know I'm late on this but, I like the moustache a lot!
I don't know why I watch this channel. I'm not a man, don't have a man, don't ever dress up and I live in sneakers or am barefoot indoors.
But I just like watching you guys work!
I love watching them cobble shoes.
Thank you very much! ❤️
Such a fabulous rebuild more like better than new .
Thank you very much!
I love watching and listening to people who are really really good at what they do. You sirs, are really really good at what you do. If my boots ever need re-soling, I'm mailing 'em across the world to get 'em done by you guys. Phenomenal stuff.
Thank you so much, Julian!
I love to hear the sounds of the equipment there. My fav is probably Heath doing a welt, lol.
WOW...Y'all continue to blow my mind...true artist....
Thank you very much!
You guys are professionals in shoe refurbish. Job well done. 👍👍👍👍👍
Olatusi Jazz Thank you very much!
I enjoyed seeing the welt construction. Thanks for showing this significant restoration.
It seems your new shop is set up in a way that facilitates making videos as well as making and repairing shoes, thank you for that.
GB
Thank you very much! We love it.
Why is it so damn satisfying watching shoes being rebuilt??? ;) Keep up the great work!
I love the subtle expression of your heartfelt pride in your work.
Thank you very much! We love what we do.
@@TrentonHeath -- It shows, it really does. Thanks for sharing your artistry with us. Fun and satisfying at the same time. Educational too.
Nice to have help from friends makes things more fun. Love your home and your videos
Thank you very much!
Oh my goodness what was I thinking wrong favourite. I love your work though haha
Another spectacular job! They look better than new! And glad to see that Heath's stache game is still strong! Looks really good!
Thank you very much! 😉
Guys you're gentlemen, and scholars.
Great, watching it now! Love these restoration videos...
Wow. Well done, as usual. Love the upgrades!
I believe the old boy loved these shoes.
Good Lord! This guy just got some new shoes. :). Thank you for posting this one.
Wish I could have seen the insole instillation process.
Thank you very much!
Great work! Last time I had my Strands serviced, my local cobbler put Goodyear top lifts or heel pads on. Next time they (or my Park Avenues) need work, they are coming to TN! I'll drive 'em over and spend some time at Lenny Magill's new place over there. Perhaps I'll have the pleasure of picking up, in person, a couple of sets of candidate footgear by then?!!
Come on down!
Just finished all the school year-end paperworks and here I am watching again my favorite handsome cobblers do their thing. Love from the Philippines! God bless u Bros! ❤️🇵🇭
Absolutely fabulous job brought those shoes to a back to new condition.
Thank you very much!
Sometimes I need to watch your videos more than once. First time to get the over all feel of what you are doing, then again, picking out stated and unstated details. Thanks for the videos.
Wow!! Great job of breathing new life into that pair of shoes. Love the videos. I always took my cobblers work for granted until I saw you guys rebuild shoes. I know some of my boots he resoled over the years were a mess.
Thank you very much!
Great job guys.....im in Australia and been in the industry 30 years and still love it....still get inspired by watching videos like this one👍
Thank you very much! We enjoy hearing from others in the industry.
Beautiful video guys - real highlight for my Monday morning down here. Really liking the new angles in the new workspace.
Thank you so very much!
Super awesome, your videos are super soothing. Appreciate the craftsmanship and how you explain why you are doing certain steps.
Thank you very much!
Hot Cork the forbidden extra crunchy peanut butter. Love the video guys keep up the great work!

That old stitching machine is so cool!
Top notch work gentlemen. I’m really digging the new shop. Also, Heath keep rocking the stash my man!
Well done on another fantastic video gentlemen! I hope that the channel continues to go from strength to strength.
Thank you so very much!
I know nothing about shoe repair, but the two of you are fascinating to watch.
Ben Hesterly Thank you very much! You’re too kind.
NICE !!!!! Really Love this channle.. not sure why but it is really relaxing to watch you guys take old shoes and make'em new again .. Because of you guys and Preston Soto .. i'm gonna start wearing shoes like this ... Thanks Guys !!!!
Awesome!
I am really digging the mustache, kinda jealous because his looks better than mine haha
👍😉
Somehow I stumbled across your videos and I can’t stop watching them I don’t know why I find them so fascinating makes me wish I was born a cobbler
Thank you so much for watching them!
9:17 Well actually, I was thinking more along the lines of crunchy peanut butter. The new building looks great!
👍
I used to make my own bird feed suet and mixed melted crunchy peanut butter, lard, oatmeal and shelled sunflower seeds - looked eactly like that spread-on cork!
That stash on Heath is awesome!
Beautiful and skilled work!!! Respect!
Thank you very much!
Why do I enjoy these videos so much? 😅
I have work boots that need love, but I can probably buy replacement pair cheaper. Just hate to toss good uppers.
👍
The cork stuff is pretty cool. It looks like German mustard with the seeds in it.
I must say your work is outstanding. Better than new
Another classic
Thank you very much!
I love seeing the complete rebuild videos the best.
With all of the hand work by expert craftsmen, I can't imagine it wouldn't be more cost effective to just buy a new pair of shoes. BUT it's great to experience the work of such talented craftspeople.
WOW, the shoes are better now, then there where from the factory.😳👍🏾👌🏾
Great workmanship gentlemen I’m very impressed.
I'm not a shoe guy, nor do I collect stuff but your content is relaxing af . I'm now a subscriber and am now going for some quality shoes. I've been "enlightened" lol ty love the show.
Was so anxious waiting for this video! Thank you for the great job on my Ebay find! This was more that I couldn’t ever imagined was going to get done, what an awesome surprise!
Thank you so very much!
Angel, are you saying that you're the owner of the AEs in this video? If yes, you are one fortunate fellow. They did an amazing job for you.
M L yes I am!
@@angelbenitez2658 -- Congrats! Hope you enjoy them for many years to come. I have some vintage Florsheims that I'm thinking about sending to them but I checked out the prices and they seem a bit steep, in my opinion. I'd love to donate them to be refurbished and then auctioned for charity but I doubt they'd go for that.
M L never know they might, send them an email.
I am always amazed how you are able to repair these shoes.
Those look fantastic! Another fine job gents!
Thank you very much!
Great craftsmanship and neato machines!
