25:05 I'm not sure how much you've looked into it to see how deep the CRT stuff has really gotten. My ex-gf is a high school civics/history teacher at a very average high school in a swing state and I recently heard her complain about how wild it is that the state has requirements to teach about the Holocaust but they wont make it a requirement to teach CRT in the history classes. We spoke back and forth about why she wants it to be a requirement (and why she seems to think we make too big a deal about the holocaust) I shared my opinion (that CRT is helpful at an academic/meta level to help us look at society and assess the issue of disparities but it's not a fact-of-the-world truth. It's only one possible perspective of the problems. she also wasn't aware that other critical theories were a thing) She told me I better not say that around black people because most black people believe in CRT (she also seemed to believe the "racism = power + privilege" thing which is why she feels like we're too focused on the holocaust, i guess since they bounced back so well it shouldnt be a focus?). Outside the context of this specific topic, she's not some radical communist lefty, she's actually very normal, but she has a degree in education and it feels like this is a widespread sentiment among her peers teaching at a high school level. Conservatives have picked up on it and weaponized it, removing all nuance from the discussion, but to be perfectly honest I think you guys are undervaluing the extent to which this racial narrative stuff effects normal people on a day to day basis. Yes CRT is an academic topic that's taught in colleges, but those students who are taught it as the truth of the world (unironically the original definition of "woke") are becoming teachers, managers, parents, etc. who operate their day to day lives through that framework. I think it deserves more focus from the reasonable left.
he tried 3 years ago to get ready for a crt in school debate, realized how stupid it was (after reading oregon's 8th grade math for teachers), and sat silent the whole debate and realized how stupid it was. since hten hes never talked bout the issue, and wont discuss that republicans actually have points about whats going on in schools.
Yup. As far as I've seen he's avoided most of the criticism of CRT as a because it's probably one of the worst positions the left holds. At least as far as average Americans are concerned. Most grew up and agreed with the idea of civil rights equality and CRT believes that even the positions held by MLK promote and are inherently racist. He knows what the issue is but doesn't want to fight about it.
CRT is taught in law school, not college or elementary school. You, like many other dum dum liberals, do not know what you are talking about, and the only thing critical race theory suggests is that the laws and the justice system were designed to incriminate black people and other second class citizens.
My big problem with O Malley was his answer to white men. That was a huge issue. He made the answer about minorities. And he did mention male suicidality, but he never presented any solutions to bringing white men in to the fold. I think this is the biggest blind spot of the current democratic party. They are unwilling to target white males specifically. Any time the topic is broached, they ALWAYS broaden it to the idea that if we help all people, white males will rise with everyone else. This is an answer that will continue to drive away the white male vote.
Hmmm... I'm slightly working off intuition here, but I think that depends on how they address other demographic groups. During his first campaign, I think Bernie Sanders used the sort of rhetoric you describe to address *everyone,* and I don't recall a lot of white men feeling like they were being left out.
I understand what you're saying, but what are some of the solutions for young men? I understand pointing out a problem, but talking about it adnauseum without solutions is just boring.
A few years back I decided to learn for myself what CRT was all about. So, I went to sci-hub and downloaded tons of papers I had seen cited or recommended. It's indefensible. A disturbing amount of what I've read would be indistinguishable from white nationalist propaganda if every instance of "white" and "whiteness" were replaced with "black" and "blackness." If you are philosophically Liberal you should be disgusted by CRT. And anyone who tells you it's just about teaching black history or opposing racism is either ignorant or lying.

49:27 isn’t the difference between a rebellion and an insurrection that a rebellion is an attempt to split away from a country whereas a in insurrection is an attempt to take over the country. If so, then the 1776 was a rebellion. Or am I being to pedantic? I wouldn’t want to concede on that point.
Not pedantic, and the distinction is incredibly important. Yes, a rebellion would be a lot more along the lines of "rebellious behavior" which is essentially just doing the opposite of what you're told. From a societal perspective, this could include rebellious social behavior all the way to criminal activity (you're "rebelling against laws"), or from a political stance, a political riot would be like a form of rebellion. An insurrection is explicitly, by definition, when you try to overthrow/take control of a country or institution. An insurrection is an extension of a coup. So, you might commit a bunch of coups in order to succeed in your insurrection. The reason why judges and older court documents use the term "rebellion," is because most of these laws came after the civil war. The civil war was NOT an issue of insurrection because the south was not trying to take over America and control the north. The south was REBELLING and refusing to comply with the constitution and laws and they wanted to break away and make their own nation. The south did not try to, nor did they need to overthrow anything in order to be rebellious. Which is why judges and courts during that time tend to use the term "rebellion."
