It's only 255 rooms. You got this. You're PRO Jared. Not Afraid-of-a-challenge Jared.
He's professional Jared, not pro-gamer Jared. But that's okay!
If it's not intended to be complete-able, could there be a Pac-Man-style Glitch Kill Screen?
"How many episodes of this are you willing to tolerate?"
Well, 255, of course. ;P
That's it though, or we'll get an overflow error.
Start of video: Jared welcomes us back
Jared walks to next room and wizrobe is like: Surprise Mother Fucker!
Also Jared: *Dead*
That was a hell of a start :P
Last episode you made it to floor 100... I'd say go for a full run. At lease until you get bored.
Jared: "How many episodes of this are you willing to tolerate?"
Us: As many as it takes to save Zelda!
"How many of you completed second quest without looking anything up?"
Dude... I couldn't even finish first quest with a playthrough...
Yeah we all looked things up cause we all read Nintendo power.
Castlevania music.
Also, this might be the first time he wasn't excited to get the bow.
"Ban the word Startropics." Got it, Hydlide music.
obviously there is only one choice for the music. Hydlide
Personally, I would like a playlist of LOZ music like Zelda 25th Anniversary Orchestra - Gerudo Valley, Main Theme Medley ,Swamp Palace | A Link Between Worlds Orchestral Remix, Zelda 2 Remix - Palace / Temple Theme Remix and the acoustic guitar version of Gerudo Valley. ect.
Torture is illegal dude.
Hydlide... that one should have stayed a prototype. Could Nintendo get sued for plagiarizing the Indiana Jones theme in that one?
@GladeSwope Maybe, if Nintendo had actually made the game. Zelda took inspiration from Hydlide, but the Big N had no part in the latter's creation. Hydlide was a trailblazer, even if it wasn't a fantastic game.
The question of the day about music, the easy answer feels like Zelda Lo-Fi or Zelda remixes.
But yes, I'm enjoying this series and would love more of it.
Two years ago I played the original zelda for the first time. i jumped straight into the 2nd quest because I watched a friend beat 1st quest and wanted to beat it on my own. Beating the 2nd quest without a walk-through or map on my own is one of my greatest personal videogame milestones.
Zelda 1 is my favorite game of all time and the game that made me a gamer as well. i'm 45 and i had no walkthrough either! funny enough my mom beat this long before i ever did. anyways and this was before we ever got the internet. i never the nintendo power walkthrough of this i want to say it's from issue #1 we never had that. but in the late 90's i did print out the map though.
other than reading i think? clues on what to do if i saw them at all i pretty much did it own my own.
As someone that is rewatching all the other Zelda randomizer stuff on your channel; definitely, keep going with this!
You've never given up on a Zelda game before, and you shouldn't start now. ALWAYS SAVE THE PRINCESS!
6:20 Hey, i liked StarTropics music...well most of it. Thats now my vote :P
Giving this treatment to Link to the Past would be real cool too.
"How many episodes are you willing to tolerate?"
Yes
I'd honestly watch as long as it takes for you to beat the game. I find these sorts of playthroughs really relaxing to watch and listen to!
I finished it when I was younger without looking it up. I watched my uncle play through it on second quest and when I got to play, I was so confused that I wasn't finding the walls you walked through until I got to second quest myself.
an A Link to the Past roguelike would rule
I do indeed hope you play through to room 255. Also 100% believe you CAN make it to room 255. And MY vote for music is the Warriors of the Eternal Sun Soundtrack, especially the rocking fire plains theme!
Would love to see this through to the end. I could listen to the default Zelda music all day, but I like most music and could see a lofi fantasy or retro game playlist being used for the series.
Don't think I ever used the wand as a melee, as I would always have the white sword by that point.
ProJared: Why not just expand the game to have stuff that was not there originally?
Developer: *Just posts a link to The Binding of Isaac *
A) I’d love to see this through to the end! You got to 101 on your first run-sounds like a Pro at work to me!
B) For your branding, do whatever motivates you most to continue doing what you do! As someone who’s been around since your dance videos, I sure would miss the classic look, but you do what works best!
C) I absolutely played it without looking it up! … but I also played with my Dad. That said, I never knew there was a “second quest” until college… because we had only ever played the second quest, as we got our copy second-hand without a complete manual. We just thought that was supposed to be the little dude’s name, so we always put that in and only ever played that version. But as an adult I forgot most everything from that time over thirty years prior, and eventually played the original one just a few years ago, liked stuff up, and then was so baffled as weird memories surged forth and everything I’d learned from playing the first one was undone by the second quest. It was hilarious.
D) I like Star Tropics, but I wouldn’t ask you to play that-I might instead recommend Rozen, a UA-camr who does simply incredible remixes of various Zelda musics and has entire albums. Sins of Hyrule is a pretty good one and less distracting than some others.
I can proudly admit that I have completely and legitimately beat quest 2. I use the code to start on it right away but that's all. I was always curious about it when I was a kid and just recently in the last few years I took it on and beat it. It is a challenge, but it's definitely fun!!
You know the only music we wanna hear is Hydlide: Overworld
Like the Besaid Aurochs. We don't play to do our best, we play for VICTORY!! Go all the way Jared
When I was a kid, I beat second quest basically without looking things up. At the time we didn’t have the Internet, but what I did have was an advertisement for Nintendo Power that had a tiny map of the overworld for second quest. I used that to help find the locations of the dungeons.
All the way to room 255? Yes please!
I'm willing to tolerate all the episodes.
Spread 'em out if you need a recharge, of course :)
As for other music, uh.. general relaxing Zelda music, I guess? Some Kakariko, a splash of Hyrule Castle, maybe even some Great Palace from Zelda 2.
ETA: I'm firmly in the "never beat second quest" camp. Started it, accidentally found out about the push-through-walls thing, noped out, never looked back.
Just commenting 5 minutes in on your musing about changing up colors. I say go for it if you want. I also love blues, purples, silvers... so I'm 100% behind it.
Especially if it's just the background. If he stopped wearing his blue shirt though, that would be a bit jarring.
I vote to continue till the end. I've watches a play list of over 100 before and they were mostly over a hour long videos. I'm not afraid of numbers. Yes me and my family have finished the first Zelda game , both quests but never with out looking things up on the second quest. By we I mean My aunt played and ma and my sister and cousin acted as her helpers by reading the map and the Nintendo Power Magazine for tips. She didn't need them after the 4th time we did it but, you know we all (age 5 to 6) had our part to play in playing the game.
I like the idea of you doing runs in between other games. That way, it doesn't get too repetitive.
Also, for music suggestions Hydlide. /s
A random mix of classics would be fun.
I believe in a full run, hell this sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks Jared for sharing those Gems with us.
The Leevers always reminded me of RingPops. TBH, I still call them killer RingPops😂
4:20 if you want to try it till you beat Ancient Dungeon, then yes, we would like to see it ^^ speaking of sprinkling in episodes, i wouldn't mind seeing you doing a MtG Shandalar Run again ^^ or try out the MtG Forge Adventure Mode for a bit ^^
As far as music, I'm down for any Zelda themed music that won't get you copyright stuck. Could be a whole playlists going in the background. Especially remixes
I feel like purple/blue/teal colors for the main channel could be cool. Dunno if you could make the actual change into a funny ProJared type of video somehow. Like an intro section at the start of a video, sorta like what AVGN did with the new Nerd room. Maybe a stupid idea, but just throwing it out there 😅
Jared wants them to add more items so he can finally get ten Arrows in Zelda one.
Go for the end. And if you can do a run where you only exit the room from the door you entered from.
I'm willing to watch until you win. As for what I'd like to listen to, more Zelda music in general could be fun. Maybe a randomized selection of either zelda ost or remix?
Definatly at least go till you win, and as far as other music, you could play SNES Zelda music.
100 episodes, 100 years, jerd radoimizer forever!
Hey thanks for the video man! Glad you're still going strong! This looks awesome haha
I'm down for purple & teal Jared. Also...Doom music (or Hydlide (JK!)).
welp...what a start to an episode hahaha. not even 30 seconds in.
I'd say play as long as you enjoy it, I'm going to watch every episode you put out asap.
255 is nothing for the PROjerd, you got this. Lifetime achievement
Smoothest into ever. 10 seconds in first death.
2:30 Nice my favorite color is Orange and white.
I'm definitely in for a full playthrough. This is such a cool twist on OG Zelda!
Also, Undersea Palace from Chrono Trigger would make it feel more epic in my opinion.
I completed second quest as a kid without internet. The Legend of Zelda is one of the first games I ever beat.
And actually I did it *before* I beat the first quest because I was a stupid kid and I named my character "ZELDA" thinking that's what their name was supposed to be, so I thought it was just the normal game. I didn't realise that I played the game on hard mode until I was a teenager.
I'd say Zelda 2 Palace music, or the Hyrule Temple version from Smash Melee
I like the dungeon music. No harm in going with that.
Yet April by Deep Purple is never even credited.
I'd watch it to the very end of the first run, Projared. You got this!
i didn't beat it, but my parents did. I was six or seven at the time. My dad played the game and my mom made detailed maps for all the dungeons for him. He recently gave me all her old original Zelda notes.
You definitely have to play until the end! Need to see that ending.
Also you've got me thinking, I don't actually think I've ever finished Zelda 1.... I've finished 2 I know I have but possibly never 1.
Wicked Child from Castlevania would be an epic track when exploring dungeons
I’ll watch every episode. Anything Zelda I’m there
I beat Zelda Quest 1 for the first time last year and got softlocked in a room I was unable to escape from. So I had to look it up and it turned out I missed the master key in dungeon eight, which would have unlocked a door for me to leave. That was the one and only time I looked something up when playing through it.
As for the second quest: I don't even know how to access it or if it's even in the Wii U version (the only version I own).
As for Ancient Dungeon, I wasn't so sure of it in the first episode but now I want to see it through to the end. If Jared's happy to continue then I'm happy to watch, otherwise I'll have to spare some time to give it a go myself.
Yes, and as many episodes as it takes. I'll watch em all. Prob(def) watch multiple times too
9:46 that's what she said
I mean your "branding" was always the blue shirt to me. Red is a nice contrast but if you feel like it's change time, go for it.
Bubble Bobble for the nes music. 😂
Music Options: Link to the Past OST is a fantastic on-brand option. Otherwise, I got a nice playlist that has things like FFV's "Battle on the Big Bridge", DOOM's "BFG Division", Payday 2's "I Will Give You My All 2017", Pokemon Scarlet/Violet "Tera Raid Battle", etc. Just pick whatever energy you are feeling.
I will watch 255 Episodes of this if that's what it takes lol. I love seeing you play games you enjoy.
And go for the branding change! I don't associate you with red outside of the background of your game shelves
With your knowledge and skills in Zelda, YES PLEASE! IT would be epic to watch!
I finished the second quest back when this was the only Zelda in existence, but I definitely finished it with the assistance of a certain issue of Nintendo Power. Really digging these randomizers and rogue-like remixes, by the way.
Love all your Zelda let's plays!
I love the nostalgia of this. Please keep going til you beat it.
If you weren't playing Zelda music, the music I'd want to hear would be NSP.
I beat 2nd quest without looking anything up, but I did NOT 100% the second quest.
As for the different music, maybe some OC Remix stuff of various Zelda games. I think they have an album / collection of Z1 remixes? That could be nice, have that on shuffle in the background, or maybe change songs after every boss defeat.
Honestly, the money making game idea sounds like it would fit perfectly for this style of game o.o
I will sit through 255 episodes of this and also would love to see you play StarTropics.
1. Purple and Silver are perfect for your branding.
2. Dark World Theme: Link to the Past
Keep playing till you win. Love this
I want more. This is so cool
Also doom music might be sick
a "full" playthrough of this would be awesome... or... as much as YOU can take >:3
Ngl i could listen to the Zelda 1 dungeon theme forever (well, as long as I'm playing Zelda 1).
Purples and teals would be a neat change ^-^. They are my favorite colors
I figure I could watch 2 or 3 more of these. It’s entertaining so far
And I’m not sure I ever beat OG Zelda 1st quest. I even went back and tried on switch with rewinds a year or two ago and quit somewhere in the last dungeon 💀
Comment for the algorithm. This is a pretty cool rom hack and I enjoy watching you play it. Have a great day Jared.
It would be fun to watch. If nothing else, you could make a stream of you getting to room 255
I absolutely did complete the 2nd quest as a child. But back in those days you didn't have a lot of games, so you'd grind away at the same game for months till you beat it. And honestly, Zelda 1 was one of the easier games on the NES. Zelda 2 was brutal.
Combats aren't the best aspect of Zelda 1, but it's always cool to watch someone who knows what he's doing. 😎 I actually agree about the money-making room. In fact there should be various special rooms now and then. All good rogue-likes have those and it breaks the monotony of the fights. Here the only surprise is the type of enemy and the reward, not bad but not enough.
14:07 When you're done with this, you *gotta* play the zelda classic randomizer (omega) by HeroOfFire. It's just like what you were talking about. It's zelda 1 with optional randomization that has tons of stuff that wasn't there before. it's got the hookshot and spin attack and stuff, and it's (optionally) huge. You can just randomize the first zelda map and make it vanilla as possible but with new items if you want, or you can have up to 4 different overworlds with like 4 sets of 9 dungeons each and you have to get 3 triforces to win. It's as huge or small as you want it to be, so you can tune it to the playthrough length you'd want.
Jared loves the rod🤣
"Why not add items that were not in there before"
Zelda Classic has a randomizer called "Randomizer Omega" that add's hundreds of new items to the original Zelda game.
I love purple so much that my irl chosen-name is taken after a particular shade. I think my stance is obvious.
purple/silver/teal sounds AWESOME
I appreciate the ability to change the background music.
Idea: Pay To Win edition. You don't have hearts, you don't have amounts for bombs or keys, you have rupees. Take damage, lose...say, 20 rupees, with tunic upgrades to make it 10 or 5 rupees. Drop a bomb, 5 rupees. Arrows still 1 rupee. Plenty of money-making games.
For a potential new color scheme maybe do a purple and blue for projared plays channel and do the silver and teal for projared channel. That way you can have both of the colors you like but also lets each channel look unique.
Keep it going.
Plumb and Silver... like what shade of purple.
Cool colors yes; Prefer to red.
I just ask for no more lime rooms.
Music suggestions:Qumu remixes or noble demon arrangements
Music suggestions: Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Kirby, Chrono Trigger.
Also I barely remember some of the games I played as a kid, let alone the games I beat.
I can honestly say I beat second quest legit without looking stuff up. Did it when I was a kid the same way I did first quest, bombing every wall and burning every tree.
I've beaten the 2nd quest by watching my dad play it. He beat it without hints. It was 1988 after all.
Weirdly am not staying for this, i will keep follow you Jared and watch stuff you do but this one...nah...its 30 min of the same stuff , enter a room , beat monster rince repeat. There is no quets, no mystery to unveil, So long you enjoy it go for it still ^^
The best first 30 seconds of any Jerd vid 😂😂
Jared wanting more items.
Dev's add the ability to find 10 arrows
The rod is like a 2H weapon, there's a wind up and a recovery period after using it.
do some runs until everyone get tired of it (but always finish the runs), if you can't beat it, just make some random runs when actualization drop or something like that
for music, put your secret binbocore playlist that everyone know you have
or you know, zelda / nintendo /chill out mix, as I think this game is overall chill
I beat both quests on the original Gold cartridge, on my OG NES. Yes, I'm old.
Keep the channel as it is.. bad make it NEON!
