You gave me courage to actually believe I could put the cage I purchased together myself 😀 It is a crying shame that Midwest Homes/Critter Nation doesn't have such a video on their website. It is also a crying shame that so many of these cages apparently arrive damaged. For the price people pay, Midwest should do better. I HATE putting things together in general because I just do NOT have the spatial skills or hand/eye coordination or whatever most people seem to have and I will struggle and curse my way through putting just about anything together. And after reading so many stories of folks getting damaged cages shipped to them, I was kinda terrified to actually make the purchase. I mean, practically NOBODY is going to try to ship back such a heavy item if it is not just totally unacceptable and I think the company relies on that. Fortunately for me, once I did take the plunge, mine arrived with only very minor issues that did not require me to need to return it. At any rate, I got mine for a couple of rats and only got the single level because I know I can add on if I decide later I want a taller cage overall. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!

I'm just at the 10 minute mark and must tell you how much I appreciate your work here. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I am trying to figure this out for the first time and the one I've got is used, so the little details are already taken care of. Still, I'm lost. I know that I will be buying more of these enclosures though. I think I will take the time to do what you have done here when mine come in. Thanks for this video! I have the same 182 model and I’m getting another double stacked ferret nation cage to merge with my 182. This really helped, since I assembled my 182 millions of years ago and I’ll have to disassemble it to remove two of the sides to connect it to the other cage.

Assembled mine 4 days ago. You need a rubber mallet for tippy tapping and the occasional big push. The instruction booklet is quite good. Its a great product.

Had an emergency with one of my rats eating one it’s cage mates so I had separate the two that where still alive, I think it had something to do with not a big enough cage for them or when I switched there food, just got this cage and was gonna put it together but didn’t get the chance too before the incident, anyways thanks for the help in a dire situation lol
Exactly what happened too our family we had 2 ferret one passed away then the other one was lonely so we gave it too another family that had alot of ferrets so she wouldn't be alone.. that was years ago. We recently just purchased 2 baby ferrets with a crappy 40 dollar cage. I said hell no we are going to get the best cage. We ended up ordering this cage it came Thursday and it was the wrong item. So now we are supposed too get the replacement CAGE today. We ended up getting this exact cage from the research I did..

I just got my Ferret Nation cage this morning. Watching your video helped so far but I can’t get the pegs in the bottom door section to fit in the places they are meant to go! I’m thinking I might have to dremel down the side of both pegs to get them to fully engage, using the rubber mallet didn’t work! I don’t know what else to do to get them to fit. It’s just me here putting it together.
@@BarkingMadLLC oh man, I didn’t see this til 7 months later! Yes I did. I used a grinder to grind the pegs down a bit and they fit nicely. I have 2 ferrets in there now.
I know this is an old video so hopefully you see this but do you know if I can set it up without the bottom storage part with the wheels? I just got one but it’s too tall to fit where I was going to put it so I was hoping to just not set up that part to make space
I do not think there’s a way to configure it without the wheel base. You can change it to not include the upper cage if you need it shorter, but I know that’s not ideal because it takes away living space for your ferret.
Go to the hardware store and purchase a mallet, like I did. They are not an expensive item and a mallet will come in handy to have around the house in general.
imagine buying a 250 dollar ferret cage and it coming defected :'( Im so sorry it came defected, for some reason every video I watched says their cage came defected. I hope mine doesn't, its getting here later today.

A hair dryer to plastic pans will help flatten them or leave them in the hot sun for several hours on flat driveway

@@KopiPuppy I used a metal grinder with my dremel to grind the pegs down. It didn’t take a whole lot of grinding to get it to fit.

i’m struggling with the hooks that go on the ramp, the ramp that connects the 1st and 2nd floor, the hooks won’t line up with the ramp hooks
I’m unsure why that is. Did you get the small metal pieces that help them attach?
How did you get the middle ramp on? I have the same type as yours but i can’t find a way to get it on?
There should have been a couple metal tags that came with it.
