I think the last gentleman is selling stone slate. These ecostar tiles cost about half of his estimate and they are pre-blended at the factory. The unique rubber formulation of ecostar is very heat resistant and they have jobs over two decades to prove it. Stone slate takes much longer to install and can be hazardous if they break off and fall on someone. Ecostar is easier to install as they are light and cut with a utility knife.

why can't you blend the slates in the factory

      That was my first thought!!

@@jeffjohnson9091 the whole point of blending them is so that if you have multiple batches or lots, you dont have noticeable discolorations. Color changes can occur across the same lot, the idea is to mix up the tiles to be used for the job.

@@greggorrell I understand the point of blending the lots. The comment was saying it would be much easier for the customers if they came pre-blended by the factory so the customer would get a uniform look without the hassle/labor of blending on site.

Copper metal, tab nails for underlayment, and $700 per square cost for materials. This roof would cost $800 to $900 just for materials. Add very slow labor and your sales cost would be minimum, 14 to 1600 dollars per square and maybe higher. We don't have many customers in that range. Also, the blending of pallets bothered me. Why are they afraid of this, is there quality control insufficient to guarantee consistent color? Also, the 45 degree thing bothers me. If the tiles cannot tolerate 45 degrees, what is there freeze thaw capabilities. We have temperatures ranging from 100 to 25 below. To many questions and too expensive. At these prices, maybe you should just use real slate.

My experience with this product our company is installing 40sq as we speak in NH .. way to many marks and writing on the tiles theirs a. R I’m every key way and the 3/8th gap lines makes it extremely noticeable if the tile sis even a 1/6 th off !! Witch will create a visible gap line in the key way ! It’s extremely annoying to install . Also some
Yikes have access plastic on them from production so they’re not all exactly the same width . They make the same product in other brands that don’t have All this I will take close up photos and post tomorrow what happens with this stuff

Why is this product so difficult to get roofers to install? They double and triple the cost of the roof. Mean while its a lot
lighter, and easier to work with. Can't buy this product at any local building supplies, making DIY difficult.
