Bro, I recently bought a Samyang 18mm lens for my Sony A7C II, but unfortunately, the autofocus is really bad. While vlogging, it doesn't detect my face most of the time. I checked the firmware of the lens, and it's on version 3; I think the latest version is 8. I don't have a lens dock to update the lens. Could you please advise me? Would it be better to return the lens, or will updating the firmware make a difference?
I'm sorry to hear that and it's something that seems to be an issue a lot of us are experiencing. I have and love the 18 and I used it in several of the shots and had the same problem however mostly only when prefocusing...with most of my pics were in focus. I personally think it's an issue that maybe both Sony and Samyang need to fix... And I hope they do. There's some forums on petal pixel of people discussing this, so more of us need to be vocal. I also don't have a dock to update my lenses but I might have to get one. Again, my guess is that Sony will put out an operational stability firmware soon... If you make the issues known!
That's a brilliant idea, and you're right as I haven't seen any videos on the subject... Currently traveling abroad so as soon as I get back, I'll see if I can make a Short on it. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for your nice video. How long does this camera take in 4K video mode to warn of overheating? (Actually, I want to know how continuously I can shoot with it).
Thank you so much and that's a great question! I'm currently traveling abroad with my A7CII and have been using it everyday without issue, but when I return home, I will be doing some overheating tests in the studio as I'm curious myself if I can use this as an a-cam. I also have a cheap fan that I will test with it!
Thanks for your response. It will be great if you test both without fan and with fan. So far, no one has posted the heat test of this camera on UA-cam, and it will definitely become a popular video.@@BrianCatalano
excellent video! thanks for sharing. LIke I said the A7c ii is the camera I would pick today, if I didn't have the ZV-E1. I will upgrade when A7C iii comes out with 4K120FPS. :P
I completely agree... And I'm also thankful that the zve1 came out first. However, I really wish that they made a A7CS instead with precisely the zve1's internals but with the A7Cii body. The body on it is special by comparison but the zve1's sensor, specs, and processor are way better for me...
Upgrading from a zve10, I'm confused between a6700, Fx30, and a7cii. Dont want to spend more than what the a7cii is worth. I make music videos and take occasional photos. About 40% of my work is at night time in low light environments. Just wanted your opinion on what would be the best option between these three or if there are any other brand cameras you recommend.
That's a great question and a difficult one, as there are a lot of solid options as that price point! For me, I'd have to consider shooting styles... If you are shooting short clips (not long, hour plus 4k 24fps) in mostly lowlight settings, I'd say seriously look at the Sony ZV-E1. It is the best lowlight camera of the bunch and they make cheap fans just in case you are worried about overheating: ua-cam.com/video/DNF-mxKkQeg/v-deo.html The next best option, for lowlight would be the A7Cii, which in some instances can outperform the ZV-E1/FX3, but it is fantastic in video and photo! Next would be the worst performing, the A6700/FX30 for lowlight, but they are still great compared to everything else on the market at that price point. Now, if you want a camera that is going to look like an impressive cinema camera for clients and will shoot all day because of its internal fan, the FX30 is that camera. I think the FX30 is the best valued camera for client work out there, but it's only real hang up is slightly worse lowlight performance and maybe some rolling shutter issues. It is hard to pick the best of the bunch here as it still depends on your style of shooting, but you won't be dissapointed as they all are huge upgrades to the ZV-E10. Hope that helps!
@@MahiSingh you're so welcome... I currently have both and am working on a long-term review comparing the two, as I want to sell one but I still decide which it will be!
I’m a videographer that enjoys photography. Should I get an A7Cii as a backup to my a7siii to makeup for the shortcomings up photo, or a zve1 for the stabilization/built in mic for travel? I’m getting rid of my A7iv (second camera) since it feels too much like my work camera; and would like to downsize my second camera for travel/hobby.
That is a great question and I'm very much in a similar boat as my FX3 is my main camera and I initially had the A7C as my b cam/travel cam, so I presumed the A7Cii would just be an even better b-cam to upgrade to (which it is), but then the zve1 came out... And I have since realized how accustomed I am to the better dynamic range, dynamic stabilization, and better mic. Yet, the A7Cii has more megapixels, an EVF, and better ergonomics, so it's really difficult to decide which is better. I would also describe myself as a videographer who enjoys photography so in that I might lean towards the zve1, but I still own both with the intent of eventually selling one, but as of today, I really don't know which one! I apologize if that's not helpful, I don't think you could make a bad choice between the two though!
with Sony suprising us with A7C II and A7CR I really hope they release more A7C type cameras my favorite thing about the camera is the small size and design
I'd love that... Honestly, and I know this might sound dumb now, but I would have loved an A7CS instead of the zve1. I think I like the internals of the zve1 better, but the body of the A7Cii is far superior... So I completely agree with you!
@@TRtheLoanGuy I know! I can't imagine Sony would do that, at least in this generation, but maybe down the road, a few years after the a7sV... It's still unlikely, but it's a nice dream!
@@BrianCatalano Yeah. I love the dials and buttons and wished the ZV line had them. Quick question. I currently use the ZV e10 for my mortgage videos. I tried the A6700 for a bit and it was a great little camera, especially when I used the Ulanzi fan on it. Which camera would you choose between the a6790 and a7C II? I do a lot of videos and now getting into photos for my family.
@@TRtheLoanGuy that's a great question...one I've been thinking about lately too. What I think the main advantages of the a6700 is that is almost $1000 cheaper with better frame rate options, a slightly better grip, and a lot more affordable and compact APSC lenses to choose from and for 90% of us, probably more than good enough! The advantages of the A7Cii is obviously that it's full frame, better lowlight performance, and better for photo, more MP and all. So, coming from the zve10, I might save my money and stick with APSC and the a6700. Yet, if you're really itching for full frame and don't mind that everything costs more money (and is bigger) then maybe rent it and see first! Honestly, I don't think there's a bad option between the two as it really comes down to budget and size.
love the comparison you did! may i ask if you know what the dual native iso for the a7cii is? i've been looking online and i've seen different answers :(
Thank you so much...and I'm excited for you, and you're totally right, it's a great combo! I may end up keeping both if I can rationalize the expense to both myself and my wife--but yeah, best of both worlds!
How did I miss this! New camera…. yahooooo! 👏🏻This was great! The stabilization test was a highlight for me😁. Dubai and Mauritius?!! That’s going to be amazing! I can’t wait to see the images and video coming!
@@BrianCatalano The stabilization is so so. I'm often just doing the gimbal thing for work stuff, and some post stab in GyroFlow (or sometimes just in Resolve).
@@chosenideahandle I feel like Resolve solves so many issues like that (stabilization as well denoise, etc) ... That I probably need to switch at some point from Premiere because then limitations of a camera are temporary.
I think it probably works best for photography... Obviously the video quality is extremely impressive, but for me, it's a way better photo camera--especially as a travel cam.
I can't tell you how often I think about this question as I'm gearing up to do a full comparison video between the two, so I can learn in real time which camera I want to keep and which one I want to sell. Some days, I think definitively the zve1's superior image, lowlight performance, and stabilization make it the perfect all around camera... and then I do a photoshoot with the a7c2 and I think about losing the 33mp, and I get sad. It's a perfect hybrid... So I'm still fully unsure!
Hi brian whats up bro Whats your idea about Alpha7c for buy in this time? i'm a beginner and i love photogrhy and videogrphy And which lens you proffer to me for hybrid? Tnx a million time bro❤
Hello! That's a great question and one I answered in the below video and I still believe it's true, especially now that the price has been reduced... As for lenses, that's a hard choice because focal length is very personal. If you want street photography, get a 35 f1.8 (Samyang or Sony)... If you want to vlog, get the Sony 20 f1.8, or cheaper 24mm f2.8... if you want a do it all lens, then look into a 24-70mm f2.8... if you want to do portraits, get a 50mm or 85mm... If you don't know, think about the kit lens as it's cheap and good (28-60mm). Hope that helps: ua-cam.com/video/QWD3kGYHkmo/v-deo.html
@@mohamadrezanosratpoor5085 yes, that could be a great starter lens. I know it's rather affordable as one of Sonys older lenses, so it's not a bad place to start!
Thanks for the viedeo. In the lowlight comparison portion of this video, the labels conflict with which camera you were pointing to. Can you confirm which camera was which?
Hello, actually what I did wrong, in that section, was not the labels as the name under the footage was correct, but the positioning of clips... So I should have swapped the left to the right because thats how they were pointing towards me. I just noticed it too and it was only in that lowlight portion... Sorry! But they are labeled correctly. Thanks for letting me know!!
I tried my Samyang 35 1.4 with my A7CII and CAF doesn't work at all. It just pulses. Is there going to be a fix? My Tamron 28-75 works perfectly though.
Somebody notified me that Samyang is aware and is currently working on it. Yet, you'll need to buying a docking station to update the lenses, which I don't have, so doubly annoying! Thanks for letting me know!
Yes, same exact sensor, dynamic range or two different base ISOs (even though like all prosumer Sony cameras, it's not technically a 'dual native')... Regardless, this sensor is a lot cleaner than it gets credit for!
Excellent review Brian, really good to see the comparisons with the ZV-E1. Clearly the ZV delivers better results in low light, but I think overall, the A7cII is the better all-rounder. That said...I would keep both of them! :)
Ha ha... I would love to keep both, and I might but I am wanting to be a bit more minimal with my set up and as of now, I'm 50/50 on which I'm keeping (if I don't keep both)!
Thank you so much... And that's actually a great question! I'll test it as soon as I can. I had heard some people discuss that slower cards could increase the possibility of overheating, but maybe that's just in higher frame rates, so I would like to see how a v30 card does at least with 4k 24 or 30fps.
@@EXPOwallflower I totally get you... but these are the cards I use and are currently on sale, and I am probably going to buy this as 128gb: amzn.to/48Kes6P
No, it does not... I wish! Yet it's very uncommon for a full frame camera to have that at that price point. The Sony ZV-E1 is the only camera I believe under $2k with those specs
Thanks for this video. I've been considering getting the A7CII or the A7IV as my first Sony (and full-frame) camera. I'm mainly going to use it for hobbies like traveling. I do mostly photography. My concern with A7CII is that it's not a fully mechanical shutter. I'm afraid I might get banding or bokeh issues.
@@humphreylitan thank you! And I get that concern, yet... It's not something that I've had any problems with (regarding banding) and not sure specifically what you mean by bokeh issues but it's also hard to know exactly how you shoot. If you had any reservations about the a7c2 then I'd say for sure get the a74... unless you really want that nominally smaller, more compact body. If thus is your first full frame Sony, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised by either option and you can't make a bad choice. Yet, if I were you, I'd look for an open-box deal or a used a74!
@@BrianCatalano I actually haven’t read much about the bokeh issues. I like shooting in low light which makes me concerned about the banding but so far everyone I’ve asked hasn’t had this issue which is great. I’m coming from Fuji and Canon so I’m excited to experience Sony for the first time. I think you’re right, I won’t go wrong with either since it’s my first time. I will have to visit the store again and see which feels better. Thanks for your response!
After much deliberation I concluded that swapping my ZV-E1 for an a7CII would end in me loosing too many important features from the ZV-E1 just to get a higher megapixel sensor. Loosing Active Dynamic Stabilization and moving into a slightly larger body was a deal breaker for me. ZV-E1 wins for me for now until Active Dynamic Stabilization makes it into another future model. I also don't use EVFs and I love that the ZV-E1 does not have one.
I fully get that... If I'm shooting client work, I prefer the zve1 in almost all cases. The extra MP is nice but not necessary for most instances! They do work well together, but I think you've made the right choice!
@@soholingo I'll keep putting this out there although I know it will never happen, but a zve1 in the a6700 or A7Cii body would be the perfect travel camera for me!
#jealous - love the walk around with the camera (its like your signature move). Well written, love how you "tease" upcoming videos - its keeps me watching till the end - smart production! And you have a trip planned #doublejealous - enjoy the a7c ii!

I am looking forward to actually traveling with these cameras as that's more their intended purpose than just filming my face pacing my backyard!! Thanks you!!
I really appreciate that .. thank you!! As for pp7, on all new 10bit Sony cameras, they removed Slog2 because... well, simply, it's not very good. I know that might not be welcome news if you are accustomed to it, but if you are shooting in LOG, it's highly recommended to shoot in slog3 (so in flexible ISO mode). It's such a great picture profile that it's worth learning about. This might help: ua-cam.com/video/_oKWQTYZo4k/v-deo.html So for me, my default picture profile is 11, S-Cinetone or slog3. Now, if I was trying to match colors to older cameras, I may shoot in Hlog3. Hope this helps... and feel free asking anything further if you need. Good luck!
@@linangoclan you're so welcome! No, pp7 (which I believe was slog2) is more comparable to slog3 (in flexible ISO) or could even feel somewhat related to hlog3 (pp10). Picture profile 11, s-cinetone is a just a very neutral, pleasing to the eye look that straight out of camera is good to go, no color grading or converting needed. If I were you, I'd keep it in s-cinetone for the majority of what you shoot and if you needed more dynamic range or lowlight performance, kick it into slog3 (flexible ISO mode). Does that make sense?
@@BrianCatalano Thanks, Brian! I was in flexible ISO to film but for some reason, my footage are very grainy and not as sharp. Do you by chance know why? :/
@@linangoclan hello! The only reason your footage may have been grainy usually is if you were far outside the base ISOs, so that's why I stick to 800 or 3,200 only in flexible ISO mode or if I'm shooting in s-cinetone (PP11) which is usually my preferred way, I stay at either ISO 125 or 500. If it was really dark and even at the higher ISO and you tried to brighten it in post, it would probably get noisy as well, so that's why I shoot with the lut on and try to expose the scene correctly in real time. I'm just curious, but what are you shooting...and why not use s-cinetone? There's no right answer, I'm just wondering.
Loved it. The compact size and all that is great so it could definitely work as a vlogging camera as well. Actually, I'm thinking about the A7r5 hahahah. Im using the Osmo pocket now as a a main vlogging camera , so maybe get another camera with a little more punch for travel photos! I do like the appeal of the A7cR as well, but it's not much cheaper than the R5 here in Korea. Decisions, decisions!
If I were you, I'd have the a74 or r5 (for photo/hybrid) and the zve1 as your main vlogging cam and then buy the DJI Mini 4 Pro and give it to me!! Seriously, though... That Osmo pocket is pretty impressive!
@BrianCatalano Hahahaah, I was following the line of thought until the mini 4 hahahah. Funny lol. Do you think having the a74 and the r5 would be redundant? The A7s3 is still hanging around too, so I was thinking of selling it finally for the r5!
@@francoismarc3 if it was me, I'd pick one bigger alpha body (get rid of the a7s3) and pick between a74 and R5... I don't think you need both. The R5 is amazing but maybe for me, more than I need. Yet, since you do take a lot of photos, I'd literally get rid of everything else and just have the a7rv and the zve1. You'd really get the best of both worlds and wouldn't need anything else... Unless, you were considering recording weddings or something and then I'd say, just get the fx3 then. Simply, the best vlogging and video camera is the zve1, the best photo cam is the a7r5... Now, the a74 is the better hybrid if you want to save your money.
@BrianCatalano Thanks for this! I have some decisions to make, but yeah, I think the A7s3 has to go before it's value drops any lower...Thanks for this!!!
Interesting, why do you set the monitor to not shut off when closed? Great job on the video again, for me it's no question between these two because I need the EVF for stills. Can't wait to get mine (for some reason Japan doesn't until Oct 13th)...
Thank you...and I completely understand that. My dream camera would be something like the A7CS, so the zve1 internals in the A7Cii body as the EVF, dials, and grip are pretty perfect. I choose to unlink the monitor, so I can shut it and use the EVF without my face smudging the screen or accidentally changing a setting on the touch screen... But that's just my particular way of using it. That is bizarre, I would have thought Japan would get it first. Well, only another week and you'll get your hands on it too, and I'm excited for you! It's even better than I was expecting--especially the form factor!
@@BrianCatalano Ah ok yeah that makes sense, I usually just fold the monitor shut when I'm using the EVF. (I'm left eye dominant so I'd smudge it like no tomorrow anyway) Yeah I'm very bummed and honestly upset that Sony is deprioritizing Japan by this much. It makes very little sense to me. One more week!
@@PhilKnall that's really interesting, I've never considered the user experience of somebody left eye dominant with this range finder style EVF, so would you typically prefer a bigger alpha body where the EVF is center located? Yeah, that is a shame as you guys in Japan should get it first!
@@PhilKnall I would love if they would... For whatever reason, they've seemed to back off from manufacturing these as I would buy one without question!

By no means any disrespect I’m just genuinely curious. What are your thoughts on the stabilization? The short clips of you and your kid you sprinkled throughout looks like the stabe is still pretty bad is why I ask.
No disrespect taken at all and that's a great question...and frankly deserves a whole video on to itself. I only sprinkled in those clips to give a first glimpse into an extreme situation in active stabilization. The rest of the clips I also had active on (compared to the dynamic active in the zve1). I can say that the stabilization is greatly improved from the original A7C... but I have been spoiled by the zve1, so I will have to do more thorough comparisons. If you are shopping for a full frame compact hybrid, the A7Cii is amazing and the stabilization is better than most every other camera on the market except maybe the r62 (and s5ii but...). However, if you're shopping for the best compact video camera, it's easily the zve1. Yet, you think about the canon r8, which doesn't even have ibis, so I still the A7Cii is the best all around full frame hybrid.
@@BrianCatalano Appreciate the thorough response! Funny you mention the R8 because I’m looking at that as a compact/travel option also. I rented it to try out and it’s hilarious that a camera without IBIS is better stabe than my a7iv. That’s only with a Canon lens that has IS though, but most do. Would be kind of a pain to have a different system and different lenses but might be kind of cool too.
@@pdmelectric-ge3wn that's a really good point with R8 and Canon lenses. I also know the headache of switching systems, but also the excitement that you'd get too. (Not sure what you edit on but Resolve has really good post stabe which would help even more). I switched from Nikon awhile back and now, I don't think I'll switch again for the foreseeable future, but I really want to play with the Zf... Or the Lumix. I guess it's time to rent some cameras, but I will do more tests on the A7Cii... Yet, I can't imagine that active stabilization is dramatically different than the a74, so it may be worth considering a different system altogether.
I cant wait to see the comparison between dynamic stablization vs 7 stop IBIS for similar focal length. Also how good it is 120 fps in HD out of A7cmark 2? You can get away with it
I'm looking forward to making that video too and doing a dedicated stability test within that... And that's a great idea to test the 120fps hd vs 4k... Thank you!
By the way, do you take video requests? I would love to know your thoughts on the "low resolution sensor giving better low light performance" myth (or is it?). F-stoppers did an article a few years ago about how its a myth basically. bigger pixels, on a sensor, doesn't actually improve low light that much. What I've heard is that, the main reason for ZV-E1 and A7s3 has 12mp, is to give better rolling shutter, and uncropped 4k120fps. And the great low light performance is because of the sensor, and its native dual iso. What are your thoughts on this?
Yes, that is exactly something I want to look into...and I think I read that same article. In fact, I was expecting much better lowlight performance out of the A7Cii but it may be something I am doing wrong... Or, that I go spoiled by how great the zve1 is. Yet, again I think you're right about the 12mp affecting the rolling shutter and higher frame rates and not necessarily the cleaner noise... Yet, it does also have a cleaner more sensitive image, so I don't know--worth testing further! What's interesting will be with the a93 which will have a higher mp and likely less rolling shutter because of how fast it's read out will be, so it will be interesting to also see how it's lowlight performance will be.
Maybe that would make an interesting video, "i tested the the idea that bigger pixels give better low light, this is what I found" or someting similar. @@BrianCatalano
I could see that perspective... I really love the ergonomics of the A74, and if I still owned it, I wouldn't see a reason to get the A7Cii. However, after owning the original A7C which had a lot of new features compared to the a73, I can say the size is dramatically better if you travel a lot as I have done. The A7Cii also has improved grip as well, but again... You're right. If you're happy with the a74 or prefer the size and better evf, I'd recommend not getting the smaller camera as both do precisely the same thing.
@@BrianCatalano Are there any improvements? i have ordered one for travel and to see if its for me or not but surely they've improved something ?? or maybe not?
@@MrPetebuster1 that's a great question, and yes, I can say the general user experience is improved, better menu (I love using flexible iso and loading in my LUTS) and touch screen features, the ai autofocus chip, better af in crop mode, and as a travel camera, the compact size is really nice. You will notice how much lighter it is and how much easier it is to put in a sling or small bag. My only major complaint now is that it still struggles with some Samyang lenses... @@MrPetebuster1 ha ha! I totally get that... I was thinking of selling the A7Cii to get the Nikon ZF and have changed my mind multiple times since. I think as far as the EVF, honestly if your expectations are it's going to be as good as a bigger alpha body camera or another non compact, non range finder style EVF, you are going to be disappointed. However, if you temper your expectations and realize that it's rather impressive how much tech they squeezed into this little body and still managed to put in an EVF, you will probably be pleasantly surprised as I have been... It's more about managing expectations. For me, I'm just happy to have an EVF and love where it's positioned. I now prefer range finder style... either way, I think you'll be happy you packed light on your trip. Sounds like a good one!
I definitely get that... And I do think it's only a matter of time before AI software will be integrated more thoroughly so these cameras will maintain their quality without the complexity. That being said, the Auto mode will pretty much do everything you need by just pressing record or hitting the shutter button... so it is a good camera for beginners as well!
That's true! However, most new digital cinema cameras are even more complicated... And film cameras are more straightforward, they come with a whole host of other complications because you're shooting on film. That all being said Black Magic cameras have the best menus around (but no autofocus) and you have to rig them up to make them work properly!

Ha ha! Have I convinced you to buy a Sony yet? (Kidding, I know the answer to that question!!)
@@BrianCatalano uak what I got 😭
FIRST!
Love your channel btw, Keep it up!
nope
Haha... Thank you!!
It is the best lowlight camera of the bunch and they make cheap fans just in case you are worried about overheating: ua-cam.com/video/DNF-mxKkQeg/v-deo.html
The next best option, for lowlight would be the A7Cii, which in some instances can outperform the ZV-E1/FX3, but it is fantastic in video and photo!
@@BrianCatalano thanks for this detailed reply, I'll be choosing between zve1 & a7cii now. Thanks
I agree with the A7CS. That would be epic.
Honestly, I don't think there's a bad option between the two as it really comes down to budget and size.
love the comparison you did! may i ask if you know what the dual native iso for the a7cii is? i've been looking online and i've seen different answers :(
Hello...and thank you!
For S-Cinetone it's a 125 and 500, and in Slog3 it's 800 and 3200.
Great video....i have the zv e1 and get the a7cii tomorrow i will be keeping both one for video one for stills. Best of both worlds.
Thank you so much... I definitely need to test the stabilization more (good reason to travel!)
How is the stabilization on the fx30?
@@BrianCatalano The stabilization is so so. I'm often just doing the gimbal thing for work stuff, and some post stab in GyroFlow (or sometimes just in Resolve).
@@chosenideahandle I feel like Resolve solves so many issues like that (stabilization as well denoise, etc) ... That I probably need to switch at some point from Premiere because then limitations of a camera are temporary.
Do you think the a7cii would serve well for mainly photography purposes?
I think it probably works best for photography... Obviously the video quality is extremely impressive, but for me, it's a way better photo camera--especially as a travel cam.
Cool, I appreciate that. I was thinking about what to upgrade to next from my a73.
@@VoicedTV2 it's definitely the most next step up from that or the a74 of course.

Great video! Are you liking the a7cii more than the zve1 so far?
I can't tell you how often I think about this question as I'm gearing up to do a full comparison video between the two, so I can learn in real time which camera I want to keep and which one I want to sell. Some days, I think definitively the zve1's superior image, lowlight performance, and stabilization make it the perfect all around camera... and then I do a photoshoot with the a7c2 and I think about losing the 33mp, and I get sad. It's a perfect hybrid... So I'm still fully unsure!
Hi brian whats up bro
Whats your idea about Alpha7c for buy in this time?
i'm a beginner and i love photogrhy and videogrphy
And which lens you proffer to me for hybrid?
Hope that helps:

Tnx bro
Whats your idea about 24-105 f4

And another question 50 f1.8 good for start the videogrphy?
Thanks for letting me know!!
nice! gonna watch this when I get home from work.
Thank you!!
Thanks for letting me know!
does a7cii has dual native iso?? like a74
Yes, same exact sensor, dynamic range or two different base ISOs (even though like all prosumer Sony cameras, it's not technically a 'dual native')...
Really great video and informative. Is it still possible to shoot in 4K using a V30 SD card?
Thank you so much... And that's actually a great question! I'll test it as soon as I can. I had heard some people discuss that slower cards could increase the possibility of overheating, but maybe that's just in higher frame rates, so I would like to see how a v30 card does at least with 4k 24 or 30fps.
@BrianCatalano Thank you, that's really good info to work on, I might invest a V60 card except they're still really expensive 😭

Thank you so much... I really appreciate that!!
does it have 4k 120 fps?
@@humphreylitan best of luck... You'll have to let me know what you decide when you do...
The lack of the evf was the deal breaker, otherwise I think the zv-e1 is the best hybrid camera in the line up.
Ha ha... You're right, that might be my signature! I think that's what I check for in other videos is stability and since I'm talking, it might as well be a vlogging test! Yet. I am looking forward to actually traveling with these cameras as that's more their intended purpose than just filming my face pacing my backyard!! Thanks you!!
Thank you for the video! I was wondering if you know how to set the profile picture to PP7. For some reason, I haven’t been able to find that :(
I really appreciate that .. This might help:
ua-cam.com/video/_oKWQTYZo4k/v-deo.html
So for me, my default picture profile is 11, S-Cinetone or slog3. Now, if I was trying to match colors to older cameras, I may shoot in Hlog3.
Hope this helps... and feel free asking anything further if you need. Good luck!
Thanks a lot Brian! This is very helpful. Would you say the PP11 can be similar to PP7? @@BrianCatalano
@@francoismarc3 good point! It's a great camera that because of the lack of firmware updates, it isn't holding its value as it should...

(I'm left eye dominant so I'd smudge it like no tomorrow anyway)
Yeah I'm very bummed and honestly upset that Sony is deprioritizing Japan by this much. It makes very little sense to me. One more week!
Also I'm surprised Sony didn't make an external EVF for the ZV-E1, this used to be pretty common!
@@PhilKnall that's really interesting, I've never considered the user experience of somebody left eye dominant with this range finder style EVF, so would you typically prefer a bigger alpha body where the EVF is center located?

I hadn't even considered that, but you're right!!
@@TomScryleus I think that is a good idea and maybe I'll do a separate video or at least a segment in the comparison video... Thank you!
How’s A7Cii vs Nikon’s new Zf?
I really want to test this out... I don't have the zf but I likely will rent it soon enough as I am curious as well!
Its not that much smaller than the A7IV with a much worse LVF whats the point to it??
Other than that, I can't imagine you will be disappointed! If you like it will you sell your a74 or have you already?
@@BrianCatalano Well i have trips to Botswana and Croatia early next year so trying to keep my gear as light as possible, i use Nikon and Sony so sorting which gear for which trip.
Cameras are too complicated today. They need an auto mode with shutter/exposure. Everything else handled by ai.
@@BrianCatalano even the most sophisticated motion picture cameras of old had shutter and exposure. Not 50 menu screens.
That's true! However, most new digital cinema cameras are even more complicated... And film cameras are more straightforward, they come with a whole host of other complications because you're shooting on film.
That all being said Black Magic cameras have the best menus around (but no autofocus) and you have to rig them up to make them work properly!
