Thanks so much for pointing out that "Emphasized REC Display" option. It just so happened during my last recording session at the race track that I accidentally hit the recording button while walking around and when I actually wanted to film, I turned off the recording... In the heat of the moment with not too much sleep you sometimes just don't notice that the small "Rec" icon is missing. 🤦
Thanks for the video. Do you have any tips on shooting 100-120 fps in 1080? The slog3 is unusable in this case. To much noise even in good lighing at base iso and 1- 2 stops over exposed. Am i doing something wrong?
Hello! Do you find it a hassle to use the ND filter when shooting video and taking still images? For example, you might not want to use the filter when you are not shooting videos. Do you screw and unscrew the filter?
Yeah sometimes I do that! It can be a pain haha so I just try to shoot the same ISO for photos as I don't really mind having noise or "incorrect" photo settings as I'm a video first in terms of shooting content!
Good job, Victor! Such great content! I've watched many of your videos about the A7IV, FX30, a6700, and A7CII. I heard you mention that one of the reasons you switched to full-frame was because it gives you slightly more dynamic range. Here's my question: If you had a 100k NTD budget, would you recommend getting the A7CII for both photo and video work, or going with the a6600 and FX30 for both? Sorry, I know the APS-C vs. full-frame debate is always a popular topic, and a lot of people ask the same question. But since you’ve had experience with those cameras, I hope you can give me some advice. 非常感謝!
I'd say do the A7IV if you're gonna do some work with it! The A7Cii has the same sensor but I think the tiny body might get in the way. Plus the EVF on the A7IV is better! If you're gonna do long recordings though like concerts or interviews, the FX30 will come in clutch with the fan (mind you you can always get an external fan for the A7IV / A7Cii as well to mitigate overheating for longer recording times) Hope that helps dude!!!
@@Evgeniy_Shaman oh yes, sorry I thought it was a question! I think it's always okay for 4k60p S/HS at v30 even with a7iv if I remember correctly! V60 is minimum for HS/S 4k120 on the FX3 / A7S3
i saw your video alot, i comented here just want to make sure because i heard alot that the dynamic range on a7iv is better than the a7cii, even though they said it has the same sensor, is that true?
Even if there is, let’s say it’s 13 stops on the a7iv and 12.5 stops on the a7cii, that’s barely anything you’d notice. In my experience, they’re the same. I haven’t had issues pushing the range to the best it can be
Out of curiosity, is there a point to having that VND if you're in shutter priority for video? Is it just to get those extra stops if it's bright out? Do you have a favorite video lens?
yes you got that right! to get the extra stops on high noon / mid day! Video lens would be sigma 24-70mm but it's too heavy for the a7cii. I'm more than happy with the 24 / 50mm g lenses for video though!
@@brettgoulder5208 it's usually pretty smooth when it changes exposure. I usually have static shots so the exposure doesnt change a lot. The more you shoot, the more you know when the camera changes exposure with these settings. It's pretty forgiving.
@@VictorLaforteza is it normal for video mode to look slightly washed out compared to photo mode? Even if I set it to sunny weather brightness/800%, photo mode just looks brighter? 800% definitely better than slog3 alone, but it still doesn't look like it would be if I'm taking photos
Shutter speed is gonna be different so you won’t get same natural motion blur but you can always add it in post (extra step and longer rendering times)
I know it's a stupid question, but how do you make separate settings for each "1,2,3" on the dial? E.g. you want #1 for photog, #2 for videog, #3 for slow-mo, i can't find how to change and save settings for those. Any chance you could assist please?
Yeah! You can find the memory recall in the settings. So you set it up first on dial 1 and after you set it up you register it using memory recall. And do the same for the other numbers! Hope that helps
@@VictorLaforteza Awesome. cant wait to see what amazing cinematic shots you can make with that if you do happened to get your hands on one. Thanks! Yup! VND is another great tool for exposure. If something is blinking, either I need to adjust the VND or ISO and then I'm done with the shot! If I don't have an VND, I'll just let the camera freestyle it as best as it can!
Hey Victor, any suggestions on changing white balance to get warmer tones on my new A7Cii like I get on my old A7C? For some reason, my A7Cii seems to lean cooler with more "pastel" colors whereas my A7C seems warmer which is better for skin tones, etc. Wondering if it's worth doing this in camera vs. in post (lightroom).
I'd match them in post! The A7Cii has a different sensor and it would be troublesome to match in camera to the T. If you do it in post, you can just match it once and then set it as a preset !
Hey victor, I have recently bought the cam and I am unable to touch focus, I am able to touch track and touch shutter but not touch focus. Is it a bug or a problem in general with a7cii? 🙏🙏
you gotta go to the menu and enable touch operation (setup page 5) and then touch function in shooting should be touch focus or touch tracking! should be good to go. Mine's working on those settings could be the lens or a bug in a different version
@@VictorLaforteza Thanks you for ur response. Seems like a bug because I double checked every setting possible but it wouldn't work.
