- A massive hit we took this week during the Key West offshore races 2022

My stomach sank ass soon as I saw that hatch rip off, I'm glad they're both alive holy shit!
Brian took a shot to the head. No doubt concussed.
I was the rescue boat the pulled up with the divers
We sure do appreciate you! I was a little worried about Brian at that moment, but we both made a full recovery. Thank you again to you and the rescue crew, everyone was sight for poor eyes

Did they hit another boat? I rewatched multiple times when the hatch broke open trying to see if they got squirrelly & the top of the boat hit the water but I don’t see that in the video. I can’t tell what happened. Does anyone happen to know what caused this incident & if the driver was okay ?

Another boat jumped over them and the impact ripped the cockpit hatch off. It happens.
They were taking a pounding in the cockpit before the accident happened. Still don't really know what happened and if the Driver was Ok afterwards, hope he is OK.
I am the throttleman for this boat "Team Octane" and we both went to the hospital and both of us have recovered.

@@offshoreracer1 But where did that boat come from? You can't see it from the video It must have made a strange trajectory
the boat came around us in turn 1 and spun out in front of us and never got off the throttle and they hit us head on and then up over top of the canopy

What does the second drive do anything or just along for the ride
One drives and the other throttles

@@Str8representing some try but it doesn't work as well. In really rough conditions, it's a lot to hold on to the wheel with both hands.
