Appreciated the review and practical game applications for different cards. The pause for thought on the Enterprise-A was good, I overlooked that ship for some reason. This is an amazing pack and does have a lot of stand alone qualities, but is also definitely a good foundation for a new player trying to establish a collection. Thank you too for putting a little more perspective on the topic of erratas. This feels like a bit of future proofing on Wizkids part on the off chance that official competitive events are brought back. Reality is for home grown gaming groups playing what you have and how it's written is totally fine. Good review. One question perhaps, occurred to me as you were discussing Spock and the new card. Is his ambassador engaging ability limited to his ship? The text seems slightly ambiguous when referring to "any active negotiations".
I think it's designed to effect any ambassador in play. Not just ones on your ship. I think this ability will make ambassadors see a lot more play. It's very useful. I can excuse having lots of text on the cards personally. Think at this stage it is ok to add more complex abilities. There's only so many times you can write add one attack dice or take a free action. We have plenty of simple cards.
Regarding the complaint about not clarifying the 'one effect per token' rule on Spock--that is not a rule that is specific to Spock. It is a general rule of the game, which is directly printed in the (updated) rulebook. It's still obscure for a lot of players, yes, but reminder text on individual cards doesn't strike me as necessarily the best way to make the rule more well known. There perhaps could be a tweak to the wording referencing the presence of a particular token, which intuitively makes people assume it can automatically apply to multiple, because the token remains present. Also, to be strictly clear, Spock *can* apply to multiple attacks, you just need a separate scan token for each.
oh, and can you please explain more about the 'enhanced tractor emitters' card? Where is the explanation about how you can 'push' other ships - including out of the game arena (or was that a joke)? 😀
I’d say this for any new players , I’d say one set is enough. If you need to get dual use of some of the limited upgrades, I’d say one card is enough and just use some paper for keeping track of what else is being used. Buying many of some of these sets is silly. For casual games I think it won’t matter if you use some “ proxy “ cards for limited numbers of upgrades. I’d say as well in response to need of more NX enterprises , see if you can find a mirror universe NX 01 , yet again for casual play should be fine it’s the same ship also can be used instead of the gold if you want to. The mirror universe Nx 01 is much cheaper and easier to find out in the wild.
Hi, I really like your video thank you. I think this pack is rather good fun. I think grumbles are relevant for sure. But nothing you can't 'house rule' to play as you like. I don't think they are aiming at capturing new players just now. More serving faithful players. Which is very commendable. It's nice to get Tasha Yar, Enterprise A, Valeris that were only in prize ships. It's weird that they are already running reprints of ships of the line cards already. There is a few new meta changing cards for sure. USS Galaxy is great. Slight shame they changed Excelsior ability totally I still like the free scan. But the new one looks great fun to try. Think this is a great box for reprints. For newer cards which are going to change the meta I think the other two alpha quadrants packs will have a bit more impact. I think is great they are still exploring new rules at this stage. In the game. I would love to see some more. Competitive play personally.
I know that not all of the cards are replacements, so chances are the old Excelsior is still playable, it just won't be as cheap. Seeing a formal competitive event would be a nice way to revitalize the community as well.

@@gcaddo No it's a new rule sounds great fun. Search for Antares ship yard. There box openings of all three new packs cover all the rule changes.
