A very close friend of mine fell for their trap and he was about to give his credit card info. But fortunately the internet was cut off. He then called me and I showed him your videos. He was really happy that I showed him your videos. Thank you for your help sir.
My question is now.... How can we get rid of these pop-ups? He has Kasperkey Antivirus but that doesn't seem to work. The popups keep coming up. He can barely do any work. Can you provide us with a solution? My friends has a lot of important files in his PC and he doesn't want to lose them. Thank you. 😊

I cannot believe this is happening in India. As an Indian, I feel ashamed for such scams from India. This spoils the reputation of my country all over the world. I really want to say that you sir should take a harsh action on such people. You should contact Indian cybercrime division and make it sure that these fraudsters are put behind bars. The reason why such scammers are successful is the lack of knowledge of computer softwares and essentials. People should watch such videos and learn not to fall for such a scam. Thank you so much for revealing those people. At last, I want to state that do not consider such activities as the global image of India. We Indians are also scammed for such things. Someone should take a major step to stop this. Keep up the good work.

Yes I saw those 2 videos. Actually those 2 were the videos I stumbled upon to first and got to know all about this scamming things going on. And yes, I'm sorry to say that there is a lot of corruption in India. A lot! I'm really thankful to you that you spend time on and work hard to try to expose such scammers to not only make India safe and aware but the whole world. I'm sorry for the lack of acknowledgment from the Indian authorities. They won't realise this until someone is severely hit by such scams and the media reports it in a very dramatic way causing people to protest on streets and do silly stuff. Thanks again✌

Scams and scammers are found all over the world. These scams are running by chain of organizations located all over the world. These guys are low profile figures and getting used by mobs as guinea pigs. The world just have to increase the standards how internet works. This is nothing compare to counterfeit checks and forgery costing billion of dollars in loss worldwide. Also, Jim Browning is indeed a legend. I hope that one day he has his own non-profit security company helping people from these cunts.

Hey Jim! :) Just wanted to say amazing work. :) I have started scambaiting after My Mother almost became a victim. One scam blew my phone up calling every hour on the hour till I picked up. I have been propositioned by up to 15 different companies most in the north of India, and 5 here in The States (Wireshark is awesome). I also had one where the "technician" actually admitted it was a scam. He told me he was sick of it and trying to warn as many of us as possible. There are some decent folks there , at least.

Very interesting. I take it as a kind of hobby to find these numbers and call them just to waste their time. Just a question, are you aware that if you are on a USA VPN, (the one I use is "HOXX VPN for firefox") and you type in misspelled website names e.g. yootube.com, fecebook.com, fgoogle.com etc you'll often get scammer pop-ups? (we don't get them much in the UK from my experience) so i'd give that a go, I often get pop-ups with fake BSODs and sometimes they even make a red screen and call it an "RSOD" with fake errors etc, but be aware if you were to make videos on them, some do show your IP address.

The US does have some serious antifraud laws, I'm curious how all of this turns out with the US based parts of this international organization. If you don't know where to report these go to the Federal Trade Commission's website. www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov though I don't know if this it how you'd report internationally or just from within the US, but I'd definitely try there. Good luck in getting these people busted. :)

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to clear those event logs and change all of those processes to "running" and change your NAP to on before allowing them to connect to your VM? I'd be super interested to see their reaction and if/how they still try to scam you at that point. It would be entertaining if nothing else. Also, isn't it possible that they are hiding behind another IP address using a program such as Peerblock? I would definitely think that this were the case if the IP addresses were showing up all over the globe, but I guess it's unlikely since so many are pinging back to ISPs in India. Just throwing out some thoughts.
Despite being somewhat of a UA-cam junkie, I only "subscribe" to a few channels. You, sir, have earned a subscription.

Hey Jim, thank you for all the great videos. I am quite impressed with your talent and dedication to your art. I usually lull scammers into thinking I am diminished before I regale stories of my imprisonment. I usually ask them if they know what happens to little soft Indians in prison....they keep hanging up on me.I put them on speaker phone so my adult kids and I can get a good laugh.

I think it is really fortunate that they expanded operation to USA, since now you can actually get cooperation from law agencies if you decide to report them. I would keep calling untill i hit next usa based one, record it and report it.

I wish I could teach them a lesson as you have several times over. I usually play with them on the phone for a few minutes and then get nasty but they end up hanging up. every time I call back a number its a magic jack or voip caller so I can't get anyone on the line. Love watching these videos. thanks for the info.

I know for sure why there is a high traffic of scammers at Chandigarh, Gurgaon and Delhi. Guess where banks like Royal Bank of Scotland has outsourced their jobs? They actually moved these jobs from secure countries like Hong Kong and Singapore to countries like India where there is no security and no way of the tracking either culprits or the money trail. Anyone with a fake certificate can enter a call centre and I.T. field in India and within a matter of days they have customer information from all over the world. Once they are in a MNC, they get the customer information and sell it to third parties or organise scams like these themselves. This scam is a syndicate started by one person who may have opened new centres once their scam was established. Others might have sought the opportunity and jumped on the bandwagon. Most Indians would never fall for a scam like this where money is to be paid upfront. That's why online shopping websites were forced to come up with COD (cash on delivery) option. It is highly unfortunate that a lot of people from USA and UK have fallen a victim of the scam, despite wide spread awareness. FYI, I am an Indian just in case a troll calls me racist.

And don't expect police or cyber police would help you with this, they make their bribes out of scams like these.

Interesting. I was scammed by an Indian couple on a "Microsoft Security" cold call. My computer was locked with a password, and a virus installed. The people who helped me out by unlocking my computer and removing the virus while saving all my data (at a very low cost) were also Indian. So, it's about crooks and decent people, not skin color or nationality. Thanks. :-)

that's interesting, so what you're saying is that people in legitimate call centers from big companies and banks are selling customer details to scammer call centers?

There was a story a few weeks ago in the UK where a woman who had closed her account completely, think it was HSBC.
received a bank statement for here closed account as it was active. 16 pounds sterling had been debited.
She went to her branch and enquired why. The manager apologized and revealed that her old card had been used to pay for lunch time coffee's and sandwiches as a reward to the staff at the branch. He subsequently found her card in amongst (she reported about a hundred) And after her demanding, cut the card in front of her.
How many of these incidents take place every day?
So yeah I can believe info being sold off.

The easiest way to stop this sort of garbage (until scammers figure out how to stop it) is for windows to add a message on that page with errors and stops that says it's normal and should not be changed. I figure they'd say something like "Microsoft agents can change them" but they could mention that too.

Regarding the Florida ip addresses, their claimed locations (Boynton Beach and Wellington) are actually very likely to show a North Miami Beach isp address. Both claimed locations are in Palm Beach county, which is 2 counties away from NMB (Dade county). I live in Broward county (sits directly between Palm Beach and Dade) and my IP Addy traces back to either Hollywood or Miami, depending on site doing the tracing (Yahoo locates me in Miami, Amazon in Hollywood). Our infrastructure is not "state of the art" by any means, so such traces tend to end at major isp "junctions" where traffic is redistributed to rather large areas. The ISP is almost always either a phone company or cable TV provider (bellsouth and Comcast respectively), so I assume those "junctions" are pre existing distribution hubs of the core service. Honestly, the locations in India probably have FAR better infrastructure than here, so give far more accurate traces. Ours is "rigged" through 4 generations of communication tech, and evidence of that kluging is everywhere, lol.

Great work Jim, you've inspired me to do the same work.. I've been frantically searching the internet for scam phone numbers I can call from Australia. Should I ever be fortunate enough to do the investigative work you've demonstrated in your video, my next step would be to literally jump on a plane and go to India and confront them in there call center, now that would make for awesome viewing.. Please don't ever stop doing what you're doing!

This is like the worm I encountered about 8 years ago that was posted in the web forum with a person asking, What is this.
The payload was a plain base64 string that when decoded and activated would then deliver a payload.
The strings were very way to find and many websites had this thing as a download, mostly repository sites offering free scripting.
The coders were obviously monitoring posts in the forum because I commented on how to take it apart, find the scritps and then suddenly the scripts were being generated with random variable names to circumvent detection.
This is no different, they have several numbers, several companies, they roll the companies and numbers around so that any complaints that may be made don't link to that number, by the time a number is exhausted, it has been recycled several times.
Its a way of ducking and diving by posing as an alternative company, they can still operate.
Many years ago I was part of a fileshare group (private) and maintaining a server was difficult for most, so I implemented a simple hooking system, users would hook the IP and new connections went to their machine and not mine as it was on 24/7 and we had taken the serve over in time zone shifts.
So it might be a simple case of a company is hooking up to the available number for that day.
Sounds like there is a central server or program that decides who gets what number and what interface that they will be posing as on that day.
