    Love my MS-3. This makes me curious about the HX stomp, I hear good things about it. Great video!

    Nice, been looking for a midi/looper that can control the HX Stomp and I think I'm pretty sold on the MS-3.

      If you have any questions before you jump let me know. Also there are the Boss ES5 and ES8 ( amzn.to/2Q11dKz ) if you want more loops (and midi) but don’t need the effects etc on the MS-3.

    Hi, thanks for sharing :) I was wondering how you can send midi when in manual mode. At about 7:43 you switch on both the ms-3 delay and the hx-stomp, how do you do that? I can switch on or off effects on the hx from the ms-3 but only when using preset mode...

    Great video, Neil. Can the Stompbox do the same job as the MS-3 as a controller for external pedals?

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  3 роки тому

      Hey, thanks for that, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes you can, the only difference is that the HX stomp only has one loop block (rather than 3 on the MS-3). You also loose one of the 6 effects blocks on the stomp, as one would be come the 'external fx'. But you can then use the Stomp to switch it on and off etc. Hope that helps, all the best, Neil

      @@NeilSpencerBruce Thanks. By the way, is the sound of the real Rat processed and sort of digitalized when passing through the MS-3? I'm asking because this is the feeling when plugging analog pedals before the GT-001, which has the same effects and the processor as the MS-3, but it does not go though a loop

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  3 роки тому

      @@jfsiqueira7813 Yes it when you run anything through the MS-3 loop it goes through an A-D conversion and then back again.

    Are you powering all that with the CS6? Did you test how much each pedal/unit are using of mA before plugging everything in or? I'm very tempted to buy the CS6 and use it with my HX Effect, Line6 G70 wireless and a TC Electronic Polytune 3.

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  4 роки тому

      Hi there Morten, thanks for watching. I am powering it all with the CS6 and have been since this video gigging weekly with no problems. I did have a quick look at the mA draw but knew thatit would be fine with these pedals. Hope that helps, Neil

    how the boss effects compare with those of the hx stomp? how bad is tone suck with a real amp?

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  4 роки тому

      Hey Zebric, thanks for watching. Good question, personally I like some on the Boss more than the HX stomp and some on the Stomp more than the Boss, but they all do the job just fine. I have not had any issues, just need to watch for buffered pedals in the loops. All the best, Neil

    Hi Neil, thanks for making this video. I have an HX Stomp and an MS-3 and I would like to set up a board similar to yours. I don't know if you want to make a whole video on this, but I would really like to see exactly how you manage the powering of the HX Stomp and the MS-3, with the One Spot. I have a One Spot CS-12 and I would like to use it in the same way. If you don't want to make a dedicated video, would a detailed explanation be possible? Thanks. :)

    Why not just have a Helix floor? Much simpler.

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  5 років тому +1

      HI Andrew, thanks for watching and that is a good question.
      I did have the Helix Floor (there are plenty of videos on my channel) and I ended up selling it. Whilst you could argue it is 'simpler' (which I would agree in some regard), I personally wanted to includ external pedals because I just prefer them, in which case the Floor starts to become cumbersome. Also once you add in the wireless as well, you start needing a really big (and heavier) pedalboard to mount it to. The Helix floor is also larger and heavier than this setup, a real consideration for me when gigging (because I am getting lazier!).
      This set up gives me the option to pick and choose from my existing effects (which there are a lot) and make different boards for different situations. Usually for teaching I just take the HX stomp, I can throw it in a bag and I am off....I couldn't do that with the floor.
      Also I come from learning music tech and gigging in the 80s/90s where midi and controlling set-ups via midi was second nature. So I didn't find it particular hard to set this up. I found that the Helix Floor actually gave me a headache as there was TOO many possible options and signal paths.
      Hope that helps, all the best, Neil

    • @AndrewReynolds1
      @AndrewReynolds1 5 років тому +1

      @@NeilSpencerBruce Yes I agree, as soon as you start adding separate pedals the Helix Floor becomes too much. And yes, it is really heavy too. I used to have an Atomic Amplifire on a pedal board with other pedals in a similar manner, which was quite fun. I am tempted to get a stomp.
      What I like with the Helix Floor is that I can create a setlist on it so that I just go to the next preset when the song changes. I am not good at tap dancing on pedals whilst playing and tend to have just one button to press for soloing on each preset.

    • @NeilSpencerBruce
      @NeilSpencerBruce  5 років тому

      @@AndrewReynolds1 Yes, it isn't super heavy when compared to an amp and everything it is replacing in that kind of set up, but it is a bit cumbersome (sturdy you might say). I had the AA for a while, really loved it. There isn't much between the two, the H has an easier and more flexible interface I feel though. You can do a similar thing with the Stomp, I will do a video on it soon! All the best, Neil
