Absolutely wonderful video of you and your beautiful wife! I am the proud owner of a 1950s Hercus model C here in Australia and have found your videos invaluable in learning to run and look after my machine. Thank you good sir.
Mr. Pete you are a very lucky man to have such awesome wife. My wife and I watch your videos all the time and after watching this video, not to be out done, my wife grilled me a 20oz steak. Thanks for your great content.
The expression “they just don’t build them like that anymore” really fits that lathe. What a beautiful piece of machinery! Not to mention your Dad’s modifications really add to it. ❤
that bolbus design is certainly an eye catcher and very pleasing to look at, especially with the vents on the side and south band door there. Most defiantly the pin hinges look the best. What a beautiful machine. I am sure these are rare. And boy o boy I am sure you are glad to have such a beautiful wife as Mrs. Pete. God bless you both!!
Thanks for the video Mr Pete. It was wonderful to see Mrs Pete and she is an amazing good sport for putting up with you all these years. I really like that shop built tray on the tail stock end of the lathe. I will have to try and make one for my old 9” model A. All the best, Norm in Arizona
FINALLY! We gat to meet Mrs. Pete! She's just wonderful! I was waiting for her to surreptitiously swap tooth brushes from the dirty one to a clean one and put the clean one into her mouth and start brushing. THAT would have been a great prank. Especially, if she never told Mr. Pete in advance! That was an interesting and informative video, as always. Thank you for your hard work and to Mrs. Pete for playing with us today. LOL
Thank you Mr Pete and your good wife Mrs Pete. The small inspection 'peep hole' is probably to access the bearing oiler on the rear of the original electric motor. 👍👍
I love the story of your dad holding you when you were just a little kid, and of how strongly the impression of his smelling like the Extreme Pressure Lube has stuck with you for a lifetime. I've got a few 'smell memories' of my dad and grandpas, and I'll cherish them for the rest of my life too. Thank you sir!
Brian from Ma.Thank you Mrs. Peterson your a lovely person. I have to admit I am salivating over this lathe already the upgrades your father has made. We’re just perfect. . I just completed a project on my 10 inch regal LeBlond lathe I am getting ready to rip it apart over the winter and see if I can save it. It is loose is a goose. but it does its job .Anywhoo Thank you
She's the actual machinist, notice how no one ever sees Mr. Pete actually operating a machine - he stands there then the camera zooms in.... I believe she also tells him what to say.
Mr Pete I really appreciate you sending me a pic of you and wife. You are definitely one of my favorite channels. Getting to watch you guys at this most difficult time in my life has been a blessing. This video gets a ten! Thank you
👍🏼…. You sparked a memory of my Pops work clothes smell when You mentioned the CMD / cutting fluid smell on Your Dad as a kid . Mine worked at Westinghouse electric turbine plant in Lester , Pa in the 70’s and 80’s , He was an assembler / fitter as well as a chipper / grinder inside the turbine “ tubes” . He was second shift for 16 years so Mom and I dropped Him off and picked Him up because Mom wanted the car to do stuff ( why didn’t we just get a second car for Her .. I think Dad was kinda frugal ) Dad loved that kinda work ! I still have his starrett mics and pocket scales . Dad would’ve been 84 years old .. unfortunately he Passed in 1999 Thanks for the reminder of days past and the small things ya remember .👌🏼
Mr. Pete how nice seeing you with your beautiful wife besides you, I am a Filipino and learning parts and how to use the tooling machine. I know this is an old blogs, however its nice to know that you have a very supporting wife of your hobbies.
Interesting how different and sturdier that 9" is the 9C I had. It's amazing that you get the chance to relive your family history and personal memories with a piece of machinery. Congrats on a great purchase.
Love your Videos Mr and Mrs Pete. Loved meeting Mrs Pete Today Thanks I have a south Bend Heavy ten lathe i completely restored cleaned and yes i repainted in the origional South Bend Grey paint. South Bend Made Quite the lathes When I finished it in November 2021 I put a Bow on the head stock as it was a present to myself.
@@mrpete222 I bought my lathe at a School Auction in Charles City Iowa and I found it to be in good Shape for being in a classroom it was off to the side and the only one of its kind Not a tool room lathe like yours But the ways were tight and in great shape. I had fun looking and buying on ebay for parts I needed to make this model work for me. I make prototypes on the machine that are later made by other Shops in runs of 150 to 200 Qtys.
Seeing Mrs Pete was a wish come true. Like so many of us I had wondered what the lady was like who indulged his passion and ours. To be honest - and I say this with some risk from my home front - everyone is not so fortunate to have a tolerant head of home affairs. Even my cursory glance at my lathe will often draw a comment from afar ‘now don’t you start with it at this time, there’s so much more for you to do’. God Bless you both.
Thanks for sharing your "Vanna White" with us. . . I've owned a 9" South Bend for over 40 years. It's been quite enough lathe for my needs over the years.
Very enjoyable video. Nice to see Mrs. Pete there making sure you're doing it correct! Lol Enjoyed the Atlas/Craftsman lathe , I have 1 I enjoy using for small hobby turnings. Thanks and God Bless you both.
I really like the modification your Dad made to these lathes. I'm not much of a sentimental person, but I don't know that I would ever get rid of this lathe. Maybe your grandson should have it when you depart this mortal coil (many, many, many years from now). I have two 13" South Bend lathes - one was restored by me, the other I am completely rebuilding. Nice to see you, Mrs. Pete!
Mrs Pete I think Mr. Pete needs to break tradition and paint that lathe pink for all the tool auctions he has gone too and dedicate this one to you. Just a fun idea.
Mrs Pete should have said she’s using your toothbrush, since you use hers. I love the history of this machine and of the South Bend Co. run in to your talk. Great job Mr Pete, keep it up, Thanks.
It was nice to meet Mrs. Pete in the intro. She must be a good sport to deal with you all these years, grin.. Just kidding. I found this a very interesting video and especially liked the story of how your Dad set up the lathes. And the paint color is NOT John Deere green as you demonstrated. Hunter green was a long used color for house trim and it is a close cousin to Oliver Green tractors.
I made the mistake of painting my Champion 20 inch camel back drill press during restoration. I would have finished it long ago if it wasn't for painting. The paint on the lathe looks more like Oliver than John Deere. The cast iron base on my Powermatic band saw is overdone just like your lathe, but I love it! Good to see MrsPete!
Great info. I almost bought the 10" version of this lathe a few years ago. While trying it out discovered the gearbox was bad. The Mrs. is a great sport. Time to get her a new toothbrush.
Neat, I'm looking forward to the series. I've got a just over 70 year old 9" I picked up probably five years ago. Fantastic little machine. The ways are a little worn, and I find myself wanting something with more swing and rigidity, but at the end of the day, I would happily pit it against any of the cheap similar sized mini lathes out there (which are priced about what I paid for this one.)
It is very nice to see the personal connection to this machine and all of the add-ons your dad came up with to keep things going and more usable. You need to get the Mrs a new toothbrush so she can clean things in the shop properly and put that old one back in the bathroom where it belongs...LOL. Nice to see her joining in the fun!
Lyle - Another great video. Interesting differences between your lathe and my 1945 Heavy 10. And we both are lucky to have wives that put up with us for so many years. Have a good weekend.
i agree the rivet is more proper than a bolt in the door hinge . its a nice little lathe you will fix it so it can help with the work for the next 100 years. Thanks Mr.Pete
You've got a special woman there, Mr Pete! How many wives would put up with your (our) crazy passion for these big old dirty machines. God bless both of you!
Mr. and Mrs. Pete - priceless!!
God bless you both.
Nice to see Mrs Pete!
“You can go in and do your house work now…”
You’re playing with fire, Lyle!
I was waiting for a Band-Aid on the head. 🤣
Why do you think the next scene Mr. Pete was sitting on the floor? LOL!
Duck the frying pan 😂
Agree! Pokin’ the bear, Mr. Pete!
Nice to see the boss make an appearance.
Hello Mr P. Great to see your good lady. She realy must have "the patience of a saint".
I believe she has a regular kind of patience and is a saint.
Thank you Mrs. Pete, it was nice meeting you. You are a darling lady. Thank you too Mr. Pete for introducing her to us!
Absolutely wonderful video of you and your beautiful wife!

She's a keeper for sure!

I agree!
Wonderful presentation, thank you Mrs. Pete.

Applause for misses Pete. I had tears in my eyes from laughing. Thanks
This video was an amazing treat this morning. Mrs Pete's appearance and the details of real modifications to make this a working lathe were great.
So nice to see Mrs. Pete ❤

@@mrpete222 Never give up a good chance to prank the audience! Especially since humor is now almost illegal! Glad to be of service. LOL
Good to meet Mrs. Pete, you are a wonderful lady. I was also worried about the right end leg when my 11” was slid on to a roll back truck.
Thank you Mr Pete and your good wife Mrs Pete. The small inspection 'peep hole' is probably to access the bearing oiler on the rear of the original electric motor. 👍👍
Great video! Good to see Mrs. Pete on this episode.
She's got great taste in machines!

Greetings from the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches. Good to see another appearance from Mrs. Pete. Another great video.
She's the actual machinist, notice how no one ever sees Mr. Pete actually operating a machine - he stands there then the camera zooms in.... I believe she also tells him what to say.
My dad smelled like Skydrol! Thanks for the video, and best to Mrs. Pete! Please bring her back occasionally!
Mr and Mrs Pete, you guys are awesome.
You never give too many details! I was very happy to see the Mrs,, you are very lucky!
I'm very lucky!

Nice video Mr. Pete! Personally, I LIKE the green color. At one time many shops had green machines. Makes a nice contrast to "machine gray."

Another fine review of a classic piece of equipment!

What a nice treat to see Mrs. Pete. Awesome show.
I love the short appearances your family make in your videos!
Already my favorite comic duo.
😮 Hello from Ireland Mrs. Peterson 🍀
Thanks for making another great video and sharing the chuck, face plate and tool storage ideas.

Fun concept introducing the woman holding the great Tubalcain together! Joking!
Great seeing Mrs. Pete, she is a wonderful woman. You need to be easy on her or you will be see more TV dinners on your tray. The Lathe is nice to.
Are you suspecting the ribeye steak was a no-show?
Lol
The lovely Mrs Pete !

You've got a special woman there, Mr Pete! How many wives would put up with your (our) crazy passion for these big old dirty machines.
God bless both of you!

I love the family history with the machine! I have lots of equipment from my Dad and it always brings back fond memories when I use any of them.
That is awesome!
Love the stories about the shelves and brackets👍👍
Great vlog very informative & helpful .
Your dad is very proud of what you're doing. I love these videos.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Tubalcain, Thank you for your great videos.
