Great vid. What a man. I can remember his pub,and anytime a parade past . He would always be there meeting and greeting! Same story on a the way to Ibrox Aways theyre amongst the people he loved and loved him!. Legend!.
The older I get, the more I think that this was the greatest footballer I ever saw or am ever likely to see. His vision is astonishing and it was a God given talent.
I met Jim Baxter in 1965 in Fife and got his autograph. I later went to his pub after Scotland qualified against Poland. That night Rod Stewart was in Jim's pub. Jim closed the Lounge so that Rod could have a bit of privacy! Still met Rod, though! And Jim! Legend!
+Stewart Nicol as BILLY CONNOLLY You must have sunk a few that night Stewart cos I can't remember us qualifying against Poland ! maybe 73 against the Czechs ?
This was the day before money took over! Baxter in these days would have been 50+million - he had it all - vision - skill - flair - personality and natural ball skills!

you can't blame the clubs the simple fact its the lifestyle of the kids that have changed we cant play footbal as much anymore because were constantly pressured to study and do well in exams and theres no places i can play either with it getting dark at 4 o'clock in the winter and finally the coaches of young players in scotland are too fxed on ''tactics'' and getting results rather than realising the main application of these clubs is to coach ,develop and improve young footballers
Well said. Here in the States, well were not known to have great footballers (soccer) , but kids are too caught up in cell phones & Xbox, @ as a result are lazy W no work ethic. No wonder places like Brazil have such great talent. Because that's all they do 7 days a week, play football. Or kick the can!
They were conned out of the Champions League final in 93 by the owner of Marseille, who payed off the players of the Russian club in the group, cannae mind the team, to lay down and get pumped, something like 5 goals, essentially not to play and they done precisely that, didn't play and sticthed up their place in the final by cheating. Rangers would have dismantled AC Milan that year. Thats why on official records of Marseille the European Cup wasnt there because it was stripped and Tapier was rumbled on other frauds in the game at the same time. They had a great chance of winning the European Cup and it was snatched away.
