Chef John I have watched you for years and you truly are the my favorite chef to learn from. Thank you for being the best and better than the rest…
I couldn't agree more. Chef John has taught me how to cook!
of all the cooking videos I`ve watched chef johns is by far my favorite.
@@keeff8195 Mine too.
@@taylorvanbuskirk8040 you must have a weird relationship with Cayenne.
@@adammchugh5456 No....Chef John has a weird relationship with cayenne. LOL!
Suggestion for those in the comments: try keeping the sauce on the side as a dipping sauce! Then you can preserve the crispiness you created by frying the rolls and keep the crunch while eating
CJ coming through when I was trying to find something to watch. 🥰
As always, your insistence on learning the technique and running with it via your own intuition for what else might work inspires me.
Love the little balooning of the first noodle when it gets flipped. So satisfying. It probably made a snappy bite.
I was mesmerized by that!
After a tough week, that soothing wholesome Foodwishes intro is what I look forward to
Holy crab, Chef John! These look amazing. 🌶🦀🌶🦀🌶🦀
I will be using this technique on Black Friday with Thanksgiving leftovers. Stuffed Rice Noodles with Stuffing.
I love stuffing these with anything, including left overs, including butter chicken, spaghetti (Ok mostly when I make more of a stir fried dish) but also deep frying these is great but double wrap them as they like to split apart, but come out really crunchy, also Air Frying come out ok as well, almost as good as shallow frying.
Cornstarch looses it's thickening power if it's cooled and reheated so if you make the sauce ahead, wait until you're about to serve and add the cornstarch slurry then!
So easy and yet looks like it came from a great restaurant!
These are similar to a Chinese dim sum dish called "cheung fun", which are rice noodle rolls filled with whole shrimp and a sweet soy sauce mixture drizzled over top.
Fun technique. I have about 50 extra sheets from a dish I did last week. I will give this a shot for sure.
That is a tasty sounding stuffing, good amount of chili but nothing crazy. Good call on using only the zest of the lemon. If it were me, I would leave no part of the rolls unstuffed.
Winning my heart and loyalty a dish at a time
Simple and versatile method, awesome. Will try the crab first and then other favourite fillings. Thanks for making it seem so easy.
Lmao was just talking to my mom about making some Singaporean Chili Crab for the wife yesterday. So it's interesting to see chili crab stuffed noodles, albeit not the same style, but close enough. Looks so good!
Also the stove at my place has 2 settings. Barely cooking and the surface of the sun. It's a guessing game with what works when cooking lmao so I'd be afraid cooking rice noodles.
“Surface of the sun”! That’s hysterical
Traditionally, Vietnamese people make cha gio or nem ran (what is known as fried spring rolls or eggrolls) out of rice paper. I think deep frying them like they do in northern Vietnam to make their crab stuffed nem ran would have been better as you'll get that crunch. Mmmm!
What a great idea for using the rice spring roll wraps! After you made the spring rolls, you usually have 1/2 a pack left over. Now I have a great looking and tasting recipe to use them up.
Don't try and pull a fast one on us, I saw that bite at 9:55 almost didn't make it to your mouth! All jokes aside, this (like all others you post) looks like an amazing recipe - can't wait to try it out. I'm making the Peposo today, which I have wanted to make since you released it, and yet it has taken me this long. Anyway, these are on the docket for this weekend. Thanks for everything you've taught me and everyone else about cooking, ten years later and still hands down my favorite food channel on UA-cam.
Thank you for sharing such valuable knowledge absolutely incredible content ❤❤❤
That is the prettiest tray of stuffed rice noodles I have every seen! When are they going to invent smell-a-vision?
I don't think I'd be able to stop myself from just eating that crab mixture straight up!
In Vietnam we have a similar dish called "chả nem" where we stuff rice noodles with fillings (usually shrimp, bean sprout, wood ear and herbs; but it can vary from household to household), fried until crispy and dipped in a sauce. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this, great video as always chef!
Vietnamese food is my favorite food ever!! Sadly there is no restaurants where I live but they just opened a place with Bahn mi in the city a couple hours away so I'll have to make a trip to the city
I guess I know what I'm making for my New Years Eve party, although my in-laws are still reminding me they expect the sausage mushroom strudel I made for them two years ago (based on another Food Wishes recipe).
Can you please post the recipe for the strudel? It sounds amazing!
Can’t wait to give those I try. Being from Eastern Canada I got I lot of crabs around 😊
I just made a version of these using spring roll wrappers and chicken because it's what I had. It worked. How ever, I would've preferred eggrolls. The crispiness was unexpected bonus.
Thank you! I've been looking for a good way to fry spring rolls, and this would work perfectly. :D
Love the way CJ uses his expertise to cut out steps to make it easier for us...
Thx Chef 👨🏽🍳 This Soup 🍲 and hot water cornbread for this weekend is Perfect 💙💙
Gods above I want to make this. I might just grab the stuff I need for it (might be going shopping right now)
This is literally nem rán in Vietnamese. Good looking ones you made.
Looks awesome. Gonna try! Thx Chef John, great stuff
Omg, this looks sooooooooo delicious!
Looks amazing. I can't wait to try them
4:34 Oh ok rolling up a nice little number there! Genius

Now I want it 😭
Add bean sprouts? But look delicious anyway you do them!
Yum... I'm going to try these.
This looks delish
They look so good.
These look delicious!
Awesome recipe. By the way Chef John, chilli crab is a totally unique dish in Singapore. Hope you can check that out!
Your post peaked my interest and I went looking for Singapore chili crab. CJ covered it 8 years ago.😊 I'm going to watch it now if I didn't back then. 🎉
OMG they look delicious 🤤 yum. Thank s Chief
Looks very simple and delicious👍
These look baller. Can't wait to try em and experiment.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I thought, oh there's no way that's not going to be amazing! And I was right. Thanks, Chef!
These will be great steamed too 🤌🏼
These look bomb Chef!
Fill the gaps with shrimps. It'll be phenomenal!
I will be making this.
You are the Labradoodles of your Crab Stuffed Rice Noodles.
these look so good! Question? Why fill them in three sections??
Serving them in "Threes" is traditional. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_noodle_roll?wprov=sfla1
I can relate to this chef when he says things like ,he wants the noodle curb to be against the curb of the pan.cant explain but it just seems tidy😂
You had me at Glistening noodle love.
Hey, Chef John... what kind of non stick skillet do you use/recommend? You've gotten us totally hooked on trying new things by the way. Been a fan for several years now.
OMG! You're doing asian food! Good! Looks so good!
H.R. Puffinstuff reference. 🤣
Exactly 😂
Omg can't wait to make this❤
“The H.R. Pufnstuf of how much stuffing is enough” How do you never run out of these?
H.R. Puff N Stuff, now that dates us. I used to love that silly looking creature. Looks yummy
this should be great steamed
I am the HR Puffinstuff of how much stuffin is enuff!
Chef John, even faster to eat. Clean plate club.
It might be interesting to use 1.5 - 2 ounces so that there are no gaps in the filling, and then refer to them as chili-crab “sausages.”
I really felt my age when Chef John made the H.R. Puff-N-Stuff reference 😂
Yummy!
Deeeeeelicious
So I just happen to have several big Dungeness still in the freezer but that is about the only ingredient I have on hand!! Looks great, sounds great but I guess I'll just have the crab and some of Mexico's finest for lunch!!
Yum
Chef when are you going to do a Ramen video?
"And as alwaaays.....eeeenjoooy" 🎵
I have started singing this after i fart in the presence of others.
Is it me, or is it that he is trying to go OUT OF HIS WAY to avoid using the word "delicious"? Which should be the ultimate compliment for this, since these are that in spades.
Yum!!!
Wait??!! No cayenne!!!!? I'm so confused!! 😅
OCD 😂😅😊 You're always so funny. They sound wonderful
Ground spicy pork, would precook right?
Well, can't eat this personally but it looks great.
😍 Yummy 😍 and 🥰 delicious 🥰 tasty 🥰 healthy 😍 recipe 😍😍🥰🥰🥰😍😍
Chef john always makes me think of Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal. I hope he really used crab in this.
Yummy recipe
Kudos to the HR puff-n-stuff reference
I would add cream cheese, like a Rangoon!!
They look amazing. Easy and fast. Going to save this recipe and try making them. Your the best. 😊
Exceptional self-deprecating patter and "boss" rhyme.
CJ, love you Sir. Unfortunately, as a person allergic to all seafood and fish. Can't try this one. Could it be done with beef or pork?
Dang I'm hungry now... 😕😅
👍👍👍👍👍
❤❤
SHRIMP OR CHICKEN IN THE RICE PAPPERRR
rice rooooooooolls
Could those be eaten cold?
Hmm I wonder if steaming the rolls would work and serve it with a sweetened soy sauce. Just like the shrimp rice rolls you can get during dim sum.
I literally tried a recipe using rice paper wrappers for the first time yesterday and then wondered what to do with the rest. Chef John, get out of my head!
Also, excellent tips that I could have used!
First YTuber I ever Bonged watched! 🤗
So happy to see a new vid
